All this Flash business kind of has me wondering what's up on the director front. It's been awhile since that Seth Grahame Smith scoop, but then again, it was awhile between James Wan's name being tossed into the ring and his formal announcement as Aquaman's director.

BTW I suprisingly really enjoyed Jai Courtney in the SS trailer as Captain Boomerang.

Yeah he seems like he is having a lot of fun. Maybe this will be a good role for him.

I'm kind of hoping that he makes it out alive in the "Suicide Squad" film so that we can see Ezra's Flash have confrontations with him in the future, let alone him joining the Cinematic Version of the "Rogues".

Imagine, the possibilities:

You know what I'm kinda dissapointed about? That they're so closely following the recent comics' iteration and the TV version. It would have been much cooler and more original if they had introduced an older, already experienced Barry Allen... with Wally West coming in at the end to save the day (and possibly having him in subsequent movies), because the former had been killed. Like in the Justice League Mortal script which George Miller was developing. That was a brilliant touch. And something like this hasn't really been done before. But... whatever.

I feel like Johns was just explaining the basic concept of The Flash for non fans.

You don't know that they "so closely" following the same origin the TV show had...or, you know, The Flash's comic book origin. Even if they keep the same general idea and it hits some similar story beats, it could still be very different in terms of execution when al is said and done. I'm extremely interested/excited to see it.

Also, what they described in that special might not necessarily be the main focus of The Flash movie. As The Guard said, Johns was simply explaining the basic concepts of The Flash, Cyborg, etc. The whole special seemed to be designed to not only promote the imminent films like BvS, SS, and WW, but also to educate non-fans about who the other members of the Justice League are, what they're like, their history, etc.

I hope they are smart and follow the comic tradition of Boomer making it through Squad missions half through luck and half through his survive no matter what mentality.

They hopefully will have some more ducks in a row to give us a better idea about the Ezra Flash film when BvS hits. I think that the material we are seeing now is early conceptual stuff. I guess I have a hard time seeing Snyder and Wilkinson giving us a Flash suit so different from the classic design in spirit and execution.

A Tweet from Grant Gustin's Twitter Account that I feel some (Ezra's Critics) should read...

I also wholeheartedly agree with Grant's post. Ezra may not have been who people would have imagined to be in the role, but I'm willing to give the guy a chance. I sure as hell don't feel the need (nor see it as something right) to bash the guy because of his appearance or attachment to Grant's version of the Flash.

Personally, I can't wait for the Justice League film to roll around because I'm sure we'll get more intel from Zack on why he specifically chose Ezra. I mean the dude didn't even have to audition for the role.

Yea but dude, he is a phenomenal actor! Ezra is the best actor in his age. So I personally I think he will do amazing.. I am betting he will be the show stealer in the JL film, the most talked about / most likable.. along with AquaMomoa ofcourse..

I'm sure it stung Grant when he found out that the television and movie universes were separate, I mean how could it not? But I like the way he has handled things. I can't say the same for Amell but I don't like Arrow in the first place so whocares?

I am pretty much sure he would've known this long time ago.. Even if it stings, he got himself a huge lottery with the show. He went from a low level glee supporting actor to a prominent lead in a tv series.. But thats how far he is probably going to go, definitely is not good enough for movies.

He is nothing compared to Ezra, like absolutely nothing! In terms of acting capabilities of course….

I don't see why he would be 'stung'. Maybe a tad disappointed at the most.

Actors are actually often just happy to be visible and have a gig that pays the bills.

Plus, to fans that are upset about this and feel the need to kvetch about Ezra and the DCEU... Are you all forgetting about the free form freak out that occurred with Grant, his show and the costume at first? This thing the fan community does ALL THE FREAKING TIME, is just tiring as hell, especially when you've seen this all before.

I myself am not particularly keen on what I have seen of the concept art... But then I WAS ONE OF THE PEOPLE THAT HAD A KNEE JERK REACTION TO GUSTIN'S COSTUME REVEAL. I REALLY did not like that reveal, felt it was bad, poorly done, all the usual... Then later that very day I saw it in a BTS picture of Gustin wearing it and in the span of a few hours it won me over, just as Gustin has himself won over many fans who were upset at him being cast, often for being too young or not light haired enough or something. So... I am giving Miller a lot of benefit of the doubt along with the project in general. Still though... Not loving the suit in the concept art. I hope Miller sports the wings/bolts on the side of the head, and gets some proper gloves.

I think it's basically because we're told in general that film > tv. Especially a minor network show no matter how popular.
So for some people it may come off like "Okay, you were The Flash for a while but now here's the real Flash because it's in the movies."

I'm not saying that's how I feel or trying to put words in anyone's mouth, but it's an idea as to why it might take the wind out of someone's sails.

Grant and Amell signed a mutli-season contract to play the characters on the CW. I doubt their contract said they would be the only actors to play the roles or that would get to play the roles in million dollar movie spin offs.

I don't know why people can't wrap their heads around the fact that a movie starring these CW actors would only work if it was a spin off of these TV shows. You can't have an actor play the same role on film and television with completely different ongoing continuities.

These shows are popular but they aren't amongst the most watched shows on television domestically or internationally. Neither of them have the kind of wide scale popularity to justify a blockbuster movie spin off.

I enjoy these CW DC shows but I find a large section of the fanbase that supports them irritating and immature. They become abuse and have tantrums if things don't go the way they want them to go. The fact the lead actor on one of these shows had to reluctantly address their stupid behaviour doesn't do these 'fans' any favour.

Classy response from Gustin.

Ezra Miller is IMO a very talented actor who should be given support from all Flash fans to put his own stamp on the role.

I'm glad that DC has taken a different approach from Marvel and kept the feature and tv universes separate. My only gripe is that they have hindered the tv shows in using certain characters.

It's sad he even had to respond. Fanbases can be rabid and it's a little unnerving honestly.
