It's certainly a possibility considering ASM2 is staring down Godzilla and DOFP.

I think it's going to take a decent hit from Godzilla and and massive one from DOFP. Hell, I think even Neighbors will take a little of its business.

Talking about competition, it is still very early, but after 14 reviews Neighbors is 100% fresh, with a 7.4. This could end up being big competition for TASM 2's second week.

Yeah, that was definitely a dark horse

TASM franchise can't catch a break. Both movies now have been sandwiched tightly between at least two big, successfull movies

It would depend on how much both films make. If Neighbors is #1 with a total in the $40m range, that will not be good for Spidey.

I think Neighbors has a shot at a 35-40mil weekend. I think it will be a close race for number one if Spidey opens under 90mil. If it opens with over 100mil I think it keeps the number one slot.

I think Neighbors will effect TASM the same way that Bridesmaids did for Thor in 2011. Spidey will win the weekend but the weekday numbers for the 2nd week will be dramatically down and he'll drop to 3rd place when Godzilla come out.

That is a very sound outlook, and probably the most likely outcome imo. Though if Spidey opens lower then $100m, I think it could lose the top spot like SPIDEY said.

It seemed inconceivable weeks ago that it could happen, but now I think it is a real possibility. The reviews and 2 week gap will not help.

Like I said, if you would have said what was going on now two weeks ago people would've said you were trolling lol it does not look to be a very good year for Spidey. It's been about 10 since he's last had one.

Haven't seen the film but I expect it to clearly get over 100 million. The mixed reviews may affect word of mouth in the following weeks.

$300m for a film that is drastically reviewing worse then the first film that wasn't all that well received by critics and general audiences? You really think that is going to happen? A near 3x multiplier with the heavy competition it will be facing?

While I still fill like the first movie put people off more then this one and had more cobitiaon then this one. But at this point nothing would surprise me. If I came away felling a big dissopetment then nothing will convise me that we will have a great spider man movie again because both this and spider man 3 looked like the greatest thing sences slice bread. They all ready fowed me once with spider man 3 and you know the saying. Fowel me once shame on me fowel me twice.

On the other hand you've got some of the worst stuff going on here, like Emo Peter, the disco dancing, and Kirsten Dunst who was just flat out annoying in this film.

I actually like Emo Peter in Spider-Man 3. Peter Parker really shouldn't have a bad bone in his body so I kinda picture Emo Peter being what Peter Parker envisions being a bad boy as.

Maybe but a total waste of potential of what a black suited Peter Parker could be. They could have gone for drama but instead went for laughs.
I thought the whole thing was funny at the time of watching but in retrospect I should have been apoplectic with rage.

I bet Avi wishes he'd never uttered Venom because technically it was the beginning of the end.

I liked it too. And when he does go too far (in the club with MJ and Gwen), he realizes it pretty quickly.
