It's not doing perfectly fine in North America but overseas, yes it's doing perfectly fine.
I always thought Spidey would overshadow everyone else (maybe even Iron Man) if he ever showed up in The Avengers movies, I'd love to see that though.

Wait. What? Like overpower the Avengers in popularity...or overpower in a movie. Because the only X-man I think would give the Avengers trouble is Magneto.
Anyway that will never happen. Bad blood between Marvel and Fox due to a TV show Marvel had called Mutant X. Fox sued Marvel and Marvel sued Fox. The only thing Marvel wants is their property back.
I just started watching X-men, but yeah, wouldn't magneto just crush everyone?
Plus, you know, they already have Ironman to do that
Seriously though, Spidey being in the Avengers is a good idea as Garfields Spidey deserves to be in a better movie than its currently getting, but its mute point as will probably never happen but it make sense for Sony to do it, but judging by this franchise Im not sure how much "sense" they actually have.
I got a kick out of that yesterday too.RDJ's reaction...

The key to any cinematic universe is a main lead. Having Wolverine and Iron Man as these leads is a great idea BUT I do think both have been over exposed, in my opinion anyway.
As far as the Spidey franchise goes, SM1,SM2,ASM and ASM2 are all considered various degrees of good. While the fan community loves Spider-Man 2 in the eyes for the larger audience it's just a very good film. SM2 has the highest % of likes on RT with 81% and ASM has 78%... But a higher average score. I don't know where ASM2 is but it probably isn't going to be in the range of TDK trilogy, The Winter Soilder, Iron Man or The Avengers.
Always hope for Sony's f***ing 6th time with the character![]()
Yeah, Avi Arad said that .Wasn't there some guy from Sony management saying the only way they would collab with Marvel is if Spidey is the main focus because Spidey is more important than the Avengers. Probably, yes man talk but I don't think that leaves much to negotiate with.
Spidey does better with his own stories. Maybe a cameo here and there but I don't think he should be the focus of an Avengers team-up. We'll see what leverage Sony has when the box office begins to play out over the next few weeks.
I didnt realise even A listers were prone to trollin' LOL!
Still Spidey still going to make 600-700 million not exactly broke.
Still funny tho!
they didnt, they f???ing up story, tone and direction to make better movie. Is this movie overall good like SM2? No. Will it get Oscar? Probably not. Was it great comicbook movie translating perfectly comicbook pages as they are coming into life? Yes. But most people dont read comics and watch animated series too see this and appreciate it. This movies will always be compared too live action movies portrays of other superheroes
That is pure nonsense. So how do people like me fit into this little bubble of yours, who have read multiple volumes of Spider-Man comics, have seen nearly every incarnation of the character across various forms of media, and was still underwhelmed by this movie? Am I just an anomaly? That is one of the most ridiculous false dilemmas you could've drummed up.
It's time to call a spade a spade. The people who disliked this movie are neither uninformed nor do they have ulterior motives. Stop telling yourselves this crap so that you feel comfortable in your own skin.
You're exactly right, and I sort of liked this movie. I gave it 7/10, but I said in my review, I was being very, very generous, and I said this movie is a mess and deserves every bit of negative criticism.
My liking of the film comes solely from Garfield and Stone. The rest of the movie was a complete cluster ****. I'm not going to blame Garfield and Stone though for a director run amok, and bad script writing.
I guess it's overall disappointing because what this movie could have been with a good script and a focused story, we'll never know.
I'm just tired of people asserting that if you don't like this movie, you're not a "true Spider-Man fan", whatever the hell that means. What gives anyone the platform to say something like that in the first place? I don't think any of us can speak intelligently on the background of anyone's fandom or "comic book street cred" to be able to come to such a conclusion, but it keeps happening, over and over. Reminds me of another disappointing superhero blockbuster from...last summer.

Well, I'm not a fan of that character. What does that make me? A hater? A troll? An idiot? I think I've heard it all. There's no getting through to that fanbase, looks like this one is becoming the same.Yea only last time it was the; if you don't like the movie you're a true fan.
heroes(said hero in particular) don't kill and all that mess.

I agree totally.
Amazing Spider-man 121 (Death of Gwen Stacy) was the first comic I bought with my own allowance money. I have many sporadic issues but I seriously bought Amazing Spider-man straight from about 1979 until OMD where I dropped it. I still consider myself a Spider-man fan and can totally get why other Spider-man fans don't dig this flick.

In all honesty, i haven't seen that many people say that if you didn't like this movie, you are not a true Spider-man fan. Maybe in IMDB, but not over here.
I have no idea what that's supposed to mean.If makes you someone that needs to be careful which reviews you read cause clearly they won't all be for 'you'.
That's the world we live in now it seems.
