Just see this schedule. 2016 is gonna be the biggest year of all time for movies

Yeah, well clearly some of those films will be moving to 2017. Don't be surprised if Spidey doesn't make the cut. My guess is WB moves back to July, with Spidey getting sandwiched again or moving out. I can also see Apocalypse being the odd man out. With the way they are talking about that film, they may want to take some time to get the casting and the script perfect.

Finding Dory and Dragon 3 comes out one week after ASM3. That couldn't be more damaging. Two highly anticipated animated films. Already one comic book film two weeks before with Xmen and then CA3 and BvS would have already come out. Can people stomach another comic book movie by the time ASM3 comes out?

I don't know guys. I think ASM3 could move to early-mid April of 2017. They can take a page out of TWS's book and release it in April. 2016 seems to be a massive year for movies and ASM3 may even fall to 4th place in its 2nd weekend if they release it between two big tent poles like they are planning to. It'll be reduced to ashes internationally as well. Even if the flick gets generally positive reviews, people will prefer to watch BvS or Cap 3 and not isolated movies like Spidey. Expect 60-70 mill as the first weekend cume if it debuts at this release date.

Sony has to be rethinking their strategy as we speak. That will be disastrous for them.

Unless you have Spider-Man fighting the Sinister Six, Venom, & Carnage; it will probably be the least grossing superhero film.

Superman/Batman will be massive. No question about it.
Cap 3 is coming off Cap 2 which did big and was praised by fans and Avengers 2.
X-Men Apocalypse has a great cast plus Apocalypse.

What can TASM3 do to put asses in the seats? They need to be like the Dark Knight and have just a great script and story to tell that isn't studio influenced.

TASM3 also needed 2 to be good. Even it's great now it will struggle. TDK coming straight after B&R wouldn't have done what it did.

I'm pretty sure TASM3 will not reach 200 dom/700 WW. What they need to do is cut the budget and make a movie that is universally loved. Only then they will see an increase for other future Spider-man movies.

A good TASM3 might help out with future films after it. But it will probably finish lower domestically than TASM2 however good it is, overseas is a bit harder to predict.

This film needs to make $119 just to match the gross of the first Amazing Spider-Man. The odds are long that this film will outperform its predecessor. This week sees the release of Days of Future Past. Then next week is Maleficent. I know that many expect Memorial day to bail this film out, but Memorial Day Weekend will likely belong to Godzilla and the X-Men. TASM2 was not front loaded enough, and its legs are in doubt up against such fierce competition. After all, the film couldn't even retain its number one position up against an R rated comedy.

I'd like to see Kraven but I think he'd be hard to get right.

Guys, the film is on track to make Sony $150 million dollars. They are fine.

All they need to do is keep the budget to a reasonable level in the next movies and they can make a ton of profit. There is no reason to stop the series now. The franchise is still one of the biggest they have.

There would be cause for concern if they broke even or lost money, but they are seriously fine.

You must not know must about the movie industry...

$150 million dollars (which they aren't going to make anyway) is not a good thing when your film cost between $200-255 million. I don't know what universe you're living in where that makes sense, but it ain't in this one.

That is a loss, plain & simple. Sure, on the back end they make make a little more due to merchandise & eventual DVD sales, but this is a poor ass box office performance.

No amount of denial is gonna change that.

And putting TASM 3 against Superman/Batman & Captain America 3 is murderous. Point blank, if they stick to that slate they are going to get slaughtered. There is no way Spider-Man (at this juncture) can compete with two juggernauts of that magnitude.

Sony doesn't get a cent from merchandise sales, Disney does.
But the rest is pretty accurate. If deadline is to be trusted the film needs 755M to break even. It won't get there.

Marvel makes all the money from merchandise anyways (only exception is dvd/bluray I think).

Sony really needed strong tickets sales in proportion to what they spent to make it all truly worth it, they are not going to get it this time around.

My advice to Sony? Go watch the new GotG trailer and see how to do it right. Who wants to bet that the budget for Gaurdians is less than what they did for TASM2?

I really hope Guardians is great. This will probably be Marvel's riskiest movie to date considering it's not utilizing Cap/IM/Hulk/Thor etc.

If GOTG outgrosses Spidey somehow, thats ****ing checkmate plain and simple.

GOTG is something brand spanking new and not done before. It will at least have the audience curiosity and it will also tease Avengers plot lines. What does Spiderman offer after 3 films and a reboot that will excite the GA?

No I could just let Avi do that for me.

All seriousness. I got nothing. All I got is do Ultimate Spider-Man stuff. Raimi did more early Spidey stuff. Besides Rhino as a robot, there isn't much Ultimate. I mean in Ultimate, Electro was badass and cool.
