I'm not gonna lie. When I was on CBM, I did predict MOS would make a billion. Grif screengrab bed tons of comments that said MOS would make a billion. One was mine and I felt like a dumbass.

That was just brilliant.

The best part about it was people were convinced it was going to destroy the box office... It had a decent start and then just died so quick, the boards were devastated... Lmao, it was hilarious.

The sequel may very well destroy the box office though. Batman vs. Superman is a movie that people have been waiting for over the past number of years. It was basically canned and it seemed that it would never happen. Then the Avengers came out, and, well... y'know the rest.

A billion gross,90% at RT.Anyone dared to say anything below it and they would eat him alive
I even saw guys predicting a 98% RT and a Best picture nomination

I think Maleficent is a slam dunk hit. Now whether it will really affect Spider-Man due to the varying demographics I'm not sure. But don't underrate Jolie+Disney+familiar tale.

I guess with Godzilla I'm basing it more on the reactions I've heard when I've seen a movie that had both Godzilla and TASM 2 trailers. With TASM 2 I just got the sense that people felt like "Oh, another one." Whereas at least Godzilla really seems to be trying to distinguish itself. Hell, Cranston's presence alone gets people chattering.


And as far as TASM 2 vs. DOFP, I never said DOFP would make more than TASM 2. TASM 2 will obviously earn more. I said under-perform.

All the last 3 X-men movies have under-performed at the box office,and Fox has hardly promoted DOFP so I am not sure how you got to that conclusion..

Thought this was interesting, imagine if Cap America 2 makes near 900 mil.

Looks like Captain America The Winter Solider is going to give TASM 2 and X-men DOFP a good competition in terms of Box Office collections.

I don't think it will be close to 900 million but maybe 600 to 700 but not 900 million.

And the success of Captain America won't hurt Spider-Man and X-Men. I think it will just encourage more people to watch more comic-book movies this year!

I don't think Godzilla and Maleficent are really going to be stiff competition for Spider-Man.

Frozen, a classic Disney movie with the whole Disney machine behind it, managed to claw its way straight into a billion. I wouldn't underestimate that audience.

I didn't know Maleficent was opening on May... then again, there's almost a whole month between that and TASM2, so it's not the most direct of competitors.

Frozen is also an animated film, so I think it has a higher advantage than something like Maleficent. We'll see.
