It's pretty obvious that they are having some problems with the shaping of this movie. It's not the end of the world, lots of great movies had troubled productions. TASM 2 can still be a good or even great movie, but it's not realistic to say that, on the day when we hear a character was cut from a movie and may be recast in the next one, that people won't talk about those problems. Just sayin'.

My department in the office have been wrapping up lately cause we have other movies to work on now that it's almost the end of our job, but...

There is absolutely NO COINCIDENCE that Shailene Woodley was "cut" a couple of days after the announcement of 2 more films.

When a plate is full of good food, and you cooked it, and you only own one plate, and you have a freshly made cheesecake ready for you, do you put it on top of the plate and let the steak/potatoes/juices/gravy ruin the cheesecake or do you finish your plate and save it for when the plate is empty again.

Think about it long hard and deep folks.

All superhero movies except for ASM 1 both felt like their own individual story perfectly well crafted AND a part of a greater whole. You can do both.

To you it wasn't overcrowded, to me it wasn't focused which is largely and probably due to deleting integral moments (it worked LEAGUES better on page than what it turned out to be on screen).

On page, I mourned for Captain Stacy's death, on screen it felt like a foot note.

And that still has nothing to do with it being over crowded or not.

The cast in AMZ was rather small...

And in all honesty the cast for 2 isn't much larger. .

And I should have clarified over-crowded with scenes and relevance with no stream-lining or focus present. They have Peter and Gwen's relationship, Peter's old friend Harry returning, Peter finding out more about his parents, and Peter dealing with Electro and Rhino. Last film just had Peter and Gwen's relationship, Uncle Ben's death, Peter's search for his parents, and Peter dealing with The Lizard and they couldn't even get that focused without Peter's parents getting pushed to the wayside, Gwen's father's death carrying less weight than it should, and messing with the Lizard's connection with Peter. And here I'm to believe they have even more there and they'll completely turn the problems from the first one around after this news???

i guess what's more interesting is whether or not woodley comes back for tasm3.

if she does, we could get the porch scene between her and gwen as a flashback. it could work well if done right. it would be nice for mj and gwen to have interacted.

if they get a new actress then mj will have to be introduced afresh in tasm3, which is fine, but would have been nice to have had her setup.

lol, well i guess her not being in this film makes that more likely.

i assumed a variant of the line would have been said when mj gave peter a lift on her motorcycle after his car trouble. different dynamic, sure, but a nod to the fans.

Maybe Aunt May will still mention Anna Watson and her niece who moved in with her to peter and how they should get set up (when may can tell peter is having girl problems) setting up a nice nod again to the comics without yet showing MJ

It all depends where the second one ends. At this point only the first seems somewhat possible, the second "doesn't May know I'm with Gwen???" kinda awkward.

Im too tiired to think but I would like to see the open door scene and with her standing there and her line but as that not sure maybe that one first then GG but idk at the moment, it all depends.
