I'm pretty sure I recall MJ showing up very scantily clad and hot to a party (possibly in issue #5? I know it was within the first 40 issues or so), and all the guys took notice. Flash Thompson even hit on her.

So there you go. MJ is hot.

It was never a question of whether MJ was never hot, just that she wasn't always a supermodel. Whethr or not you think Shailene fits the definition of "hot" is your opinion, so I won't get into that. But my point was that MJ wasn't always portrayed as a supermodel, sometimes she was just a regular, hot/pretty/what have you, teenager.

Plus he's a teen, so he's not gonna wear generic walmart clothes. He's gonna have his own thing going on, nothing wrong with having your own unique style.
"Hipster" has become just as typecast and ignorant as "emo".

Hmm...I never said how I feel about how Peter was represented, did I? I noted that some fanboys complain that Pete looked like a hipster or whatever (and they do). I don't agree with that though. Yes, many fans make ridiculous, uninformed claims/arguments and should not be listened to. Where did I contradict myself?

Alright then. My apologies for that false assumption.

MJ was drawn exactly the same way that every woman in comics was drawn (as a Raquel Welch-esque supermodel) with the sole purpose of appealing to the male adolescents. Male viewers might want to watch that sure, but nowadays, these characters have to appeal to a WIDE audience. a sexy supermodel as the teenaged girl next store Mary Jane? I don't think so. We're getting a much more realisitic and down to earth interpretation of MJ here (Thank God).

She wasn't just drawn that way for the sake of being drawn that way. It was also a part of her character. She is a supermodel within the universe while many other comic book women were just drawn like that for the sake of being drawn like that.

You can maybe argue that her being written as a supermodel was also done to please the young male adolescents reading their books but you can't really argue she was just drawn like that for the sake of being drawn like that because it was a part of her character.

As for a more realistic MJ, you can still have a down to earth MJ that is very attractive. She doesn't have to look like the hottest girl on the planet but at the same time, she would be pretty attractive. Not that Shailene isn't attractive but she just comes off as cute to me and looks a few years younger than Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone.

But like I said, I will judge her portrayal when the movie comes out. These are just my first impressions based on everything I've seen and based on everything up till this point, she seems miscast to me.

That is definitely Peter and it seems like Peter carving out an identity for himself while still having a dark edge. It seriously feels realistic because of that. Grown up with the edge there. Just without the winter jacket.

I had a cool idea for them to handle the Gwen/Green Goblin situation while reading the Iron-Man boards;

Prolouge: Rhino
Opening revolves around a nab of a robber known as Rhino. We slowly catch-up from where we left off with Peter.

Act 1/Act 2/Act 3: Electro
Introduce/Create Electro, foils, then captures. Once, everything is all right once again and Peter thinks he can take a breath... ->

Epilogue: Green Goblin
A mysterious character (whom the GA might not even know, but we've got even more Norman backstory throughout the film) swoops in, kidnaps Gwen and we see him flying off to the bridge... and we see Spider-Man take off after them (cliffhanger).

Prologue/Act 1: SM battles GG but GG kills Gwen.

Act 2/Act 3: Peter avenges Gwens death, deducts who GG is. Leads to falling out with his friend, Harry. It all comes to a head during the final battle. Ends trilogy with Peter reflecting on his losses (uncle Ben/Gwen) but looking hopeful on his gains (Harry/MJ).

Then, a fourth film with Garfield (possible second trilogy) feels fresh and different with the relationship with MJ, going through College, and starting on a whole list of new rouges to battle.

*This then will allow Gwen to be in all 3 films and not "killed" in a rush at the end of II.

I'd be hesitant at showing Peter in college, in a film that, at the earliest, would be 2018. When Andrew is 34.

I think, should the series not end with the third film (and I really would like it to continue, I'm sick to death of trilogies) they may skip forward in time a bit.

Look at TSSM, yeah sure in the flashbacks he was dressed like a 60s a super geek, but once he was Spidey, there was barely any geek left. I'm fine with it.
