Yeah, I dunno about that. If Raimi directed another Spider-Man, he'd need to at least hire Webb's team to write it.

No more dopey Parker. No more needlessly pissy MJ. No more cornballing.

The suit is fine, but let's not go giving Raimi credit for more than he deserves. Hell, did he even design the suit? What about the art and design team? How involved was he? Did some of the same team members shift over from Raimi to Webb, as happened with the aspects of the WB Batman films?

Exactly! Some people really have a distaste for Raimi, but if it weren't for that saint, Spider-Man wouldn't even be here.

Well there were a suspicious number of cranes in TASM...

Maybe repairing the damage from a superhero team fighting some aliens a few months prior?

Still, the tone of the two franchises are vastly different. A much darker a bit more realistic Spider-Man with a "fun-screw-reality-type of franchise" would not mesh well.

I could see Raimi's Spidey in it, but Webb's? Not so much.

I think the tone of TASM2 will be much lighter than TASM, while still maintaining the realism to a lesser extent.

Don't forget that the first Iron Man started off with some dark moments as well. Plus, it also had the realism thing going for it just like these movies.

I don't think that will be an issue if they ever integrate Spidey into the MCU.

Don't get me wrong. Would love to see Spidey in the MCU, just not this Spidey.

I'd love a frame by frame live-action recreation of the Amazing Fantasy origin.

I'd love to see an origin in where Ben and Peter don't argue before Ben dies, but that ship has sailed.

I can only hope, though.

In your honest opinion, though, does this Spidey have any indication that Aliens are an accepted concept by the populace?

In my opinion, these are too vastly different to even exist in the same world, let alone the same universe.

In the next Spidey, sure go for it.

I disagree that the tone of the MCU is much different than that of ASM. I think people really overestimate the darkness/seriousness of ASM because its not a camp fest like the raimi flicks.

The thing is they just looked like a typical middle class family. You had that basement flood which was nice Parker luck but that was about it. I just hope they struggle more in this one. It gives more of Aunt May to do, and it adds a different dynamic now that she knows Peter's Spider-Man.
