^ Def. Guys and girls love Emma Stone. Girls of all ages fell in love with Garfield. And who doesn't wanna see Jamie Foxx in a Spidey movie?

Plus it's Spider-man. Everyone loves Spider-Man. Superman and Batman have their share of dislike, but I've yet to meet someone who doesn't like Spidey.

Many people are saying the mixed reaction of TASM will effect TASM2 box office wise, what does everyone think?

personally i don't think it will

The first one was surprisingly well recieved critically and financially for such a quick reboot (not to mention another origin story). General Audiences enjoyed it. Polls from larger comic sites indicate fans liked it. Yeah, I don't see the second hurting much because of the first.

The EW cover came out on July 10. It's officially been a month of drought. That's good! I'm only counting official things.

I don't think it will. Transformers 2 had a negative reaction from the fans but the third still made a billion dollars.

Really? Guy has a different opinion than you and you start saying stuff like this?

I really wish the Spidey boards weren't such childish **** now.

Trust me, well aware what I said was childish and immature, but I don't post enough on here to care about my 'reputation,' no offense. I do however love coming on these boards and reading the conversation, so when Vid randomly comes on here and posts what he just posted, I'm more than happy to play the immature a-hole board member and call him out. It's not like I do it often, I've only ever posted constructively about the movies, both positively and critically

But if you think I'm posted my immature remark just cause I disagree with him, respectively, you're extremely mistaken. Coming on here and making that post about how ****** Webb was over a year after TASM had come out is borderline sociopathic. Some of my best friends hated TASM and I have no problem with that. I enjoy different opinions, just not presented in any kind of manner like that

Edit.

And it is kinda crazy to think other than the cc Electro footage, we haven't even gotten a teaser. It's kinda maddening, but builds the hype that much more for sure. Maybe they're more confident at this point not trying/needing to promote that much?

^Nope. I think the GA for the most part liked TASM.

TASM had a positive but uneventful impact on the public.

Agreed.

If you don't find anything wrong with what/how he came in here and posted, even being on his side in thinking TASM was complete garbage, then no offense something's kinda wrong with you as well

So, now you're insulting people who are defending his right to have an opinion?

That gif = :lmao:

And Vid, yes, coming on the thread just to say Marc Webb's efforts were a steaming pile of garbage IS negative. Confused as to why that needs clarification.

Not at all. If anything, my comment and the Neil Blomkamp quote is railing against the studios , who hire young, talented, capable directors who they can and do take advantage of (and while I may not think Webb was 100% perfect for Spider-Man, it certainly doesn't mean I think his efforts were garbage).

This is what happens when the executives and studio heads start trying to call the creative shots. "Trim this down. Remove this character. Add this character. This story element needs to go, it's too confusing for the audience. We need more action, etc..."

For me ASM wasn't bad, it wasn't great it just didn't offer anything new. It had some good performances, particularly from Garfield, Stone and Sheen but nothing in the movie felt particularly different from SM1 so I'm guessing some people share the same "meh" reaction that I had to it. But with the origin out of the way and everything I have seen thus far I'm awaiting ASM2 much more than ASM1.

I had to watch TASM twice to really like it.

First Viewing was okay, I guess.

The second viewing was awesome.

I was really disappointed my first view viewing. My second time I liked it more but I still felt the movie didn't bring anything new to the table. I was disappointed that the "Untold Story" that was hyped about in posters and trailers was forgotten midway through the movie.

Lol I go here and I see TASM 2nd on the polls in ranking the spidey films. I go onto the front page of Shh and after BB, TASM gets the best reboot for SH's. 4 star rating on RT User and Top Critic- (same average score as SM2) and people here call the reaction "mixed"? What... The... F*** lol. TASM was really liked, not loved. It was not a revolution but a good and quite possibly a great film. SM1 was loved but it didn't age well and is now just "liked at best". I wonder if because it was put inbetween two of the biggest CB Films of all time that people compare it's success to that?

*Untold Story Begins* ;)

Vid- Webb giving a "mediocre effort". Even if you felt his humour didn't work well for you Atleast he gave a damn. As much as I like the Rami films I felt that at times he didn't give a S***. There was like "here's your change!" And that was it. He totally screwed over all the villains in SM3 and took a dump on Venom. Peter Parker looked and acted borderline special in 3. I personally found Mary Jane annoying. By 3 I wanted her to jump off a cliff.
That is all my problems with the Rami films lol.

He had to take a dump on Venom. He was forced to put him in no matter what.

Saw a great quote by Neil Blomkamp of District 9 fame:

"When a young director gets hired by a major studio to do a 125 million dollar film based on preexisting intellectual piece of property, they are climbing to the meat grinder and what you are coming out on the other side is a generic, heavily studio controlled pile of garbage that ends up on the other side of the burger king wrapper".

Just felt this was the appropriate forum.

Sounds like an excuse on his part; I'd expect a film maker worth his or her salt to be able to take garbage given by the studio and turn it into something good. Sam should've been a big boy about the Venom thing and reworked his story to fit all 3 characters, or cut one of them.

Yeah I hate that though. Hyping up the one movie as the Untold Story and then spreading it out onto the other ones is almost trolling to me lol.

Always said that it would only begin though. After a 2nd viewing I felt that it said enough. We know about his Dad's work on creating the Spider's. We also know that they left as someone was trying to steal the research.

Sally Field is a GILF

Especially in the scene where they're watching the TV and Capt Stacy is issuing the arrest warrant. She's in this like stylish plaid shirt..hahaha. Seriously, check that scene out.
Nah I mean, she's attractive. I hear she was a babe back in the day.

My woman is Diane Lane. Back off, nerds.
