He had to take a dump on Venom. He was forced to put him in no matter what.

*yawn* being forced to use a character doesn't mean you just dump on them because you don't like them. It's a directors job when forced... to still make the best damn movie they can, and RESEARCH about a character they don't understand :o

They should get Tobey to have a cameo with him walking down the street dancing

I always thought that guy was Asian and had alien rings.

yes... but he's also very much a business man and has also been given the extrimis ability before as well...

that being said.. this also isn't the Iron Man forum

I've tried this argument again and again..some will hear you and some will ignore you. Big hollywood studios force things on directors at times, it comes with the territory of investing all of that money into a movie, the trick of the director is to make something out of it even if he doesn't like a character or agree with said characters inclusion. At the end of the day, your name is on it as the director and in some cases, the writer. So do something dope with it, not understanding it or liking it isn't an excuse

indeed, people seem to think that just because someones directing a film, suddenly makes it "their" film. which really isn't the case with major blockbusters unless you're Spielberg or Cameron who often enough produce their own films as well... Sam Raimi isn't exactly a huge named director.. he can't simply always do what he wants... and with a character like Spider-Man, he's HIRED by sony, to give his vision and special qualities as a film maker to tell the film THEY want.

Producers in most films have quite alot more control then some people wish to think or understand

Word...not to mention Marvel, a studio fanboys hold in such high regard, puts A LOT of input in their projects and often don't let their directors do what they want, whether that's right or wrong. They have their ideas and their stories they want to tell and they work in conjunction with the writer and the director to tell those stories...it's no coincidence that directors have left Marvel projects and not returned for sequels, stuff happens and when you're investing that much money into a project, on the real, I feel like it's your job to exercise SOME form of control, because that's just good business.

i believe tobey maguire deserves a cameo at some point. just so the fans could look around and ask if they just saw tobey

Nah, that would be like Sean Connery making an appearance in a Roger Moore James Bond flick or Pierce showing up in a Daniel Craig flick...it takes you out of the movie and is winking at the camera too much

why was it denied? i would like it alot if that happened but like maybe in tasm 4 or a spin off of venom or whenever the daily bugle is heavily involved like jameson is looking for peter to take some shots of a GG fight or sinister six fight and he cant find him so hes like "hey you you know how to take a picture" and tobeys like yeah ive had some experence! then it goes back to the fight. i would love it

Well they probably are thinking they want to do their own thing and move away from the past without outright dissing it and secondly it's probably what I said: it's too meta, too self referential and takes you out of the movie. You're already trying to create a reality where a guy gets bitten by a spider and gets powers, the last thing you need is to be pulled out of that reality. Like I said it's the same reason old James Bond actors don't make cameos in the next guys movies.

I remember when George Lazenby's Bond said, "This never happened to the other fella," referring to Sean Connery. That took me out of the movie.

Lol me too! I remember seeing that as a kid and thinking "how can James Bond reference James Bond?"

well i think it would be cool but youre right it probably would take me out but i dont think it would be dissing the old franchise. but yeah after i would probly be thinking about it all day

If anyone should make a cameo... its the one and only...

Bruce Campbell

I'm not saying that would be dissing it. I'm saying you have to find a way to create distance from the past and I don't think that does it. That's all.

I really don't want any cameos. I want this series to live on it's own merit and let the past be the past. Just how I feel
