It wasn't good enough for me, it was one 5 minute scene in a 2 hour film. He should have done more. I don't mean just quipping either, just more talking in general. It would of been great if he talked to himself when he was going down into the sewer.

Ah yeah. Classic.

I had no problems with the quips in TASM. They were pretty funny.

The quips in ASM were good. Considering we mostly got a smartass vigilante mode Spidey that hadn't really blossomed into the swashbuckling type hero yet. He talked plenty imo although a few more lines here and there i.e sewers and final fight would have been better. It's still miles ahead of the heavily muted Spidey we got from Raimi. ASM had Spidey in the right direction and they just need to push that further with the sequel.

to much joking about takes away the Seriousness of the situation, its pretty much why i think raimi had rare to no quips in his films

when you have a time limit to stop the city being turned into lizards i don't think he has time to goof around and annoy the lizard, just like in the final battle with electro i doubt he will be joking loads

and the sewer scene worked better being silent for the most part as it gave it atmosphere and when the lizard did appear he had his hand around spideys throat... again not really joking times

Spidey isn't all about just cracking one-liners and telling jokes but even telling jokes in some of his most dangerous and serious moments is an integral part of the character. He's incredibly verbal. Look at the HS fight for example--it's not as if he was cracking jokes the entire time. He was talking quite a bit though i.e. trying to make Connors listen "Let's talk this out." Although a few humorous quotes were thrown in there, "Don't...make...me...have...to....hurt you! Ahhhhh!" and then of course there was him just voicing his thoughts, "Uck, that is disgusting!"

Spidey talking or even making jokes doesn't necessarily take away from the seriousness of a scene. Being verbal in any situation is a very important part of his character and one that needs to be utilized imo. Raimi hardly used it and his Spidey suffered because of it. Same with not using practical webshooters per his reasoning.

Damn.

In the commentary for TASM during the sewer scene, Marc said that originally he had Spidey say the Lizard looked like a goomba. I have no idea why they took it out, maybe certain issues?

Because like, 99% of the audience would have no idea what he was talking about.

I hope the comedic dialogue is improved some, make it a bit more clever. There were a couple of poorly written scenes in the trailer, like the flag one. Also, did anyone else think the scene where Spidey is talking to Max felt way too short? Because to me at least, the whole "eyes and ears" line felt sort of random. I hope it was just shortened for the trailer.

Maybe it was meant to be short.... He did just have a mysterious flying car heading his way

Pretty sure it was shortened just for the trailer.

Can't wait to see the creative fights between electro and spidey.

According to Sony Imagework's official instagram, they "wrapped an important sequence" today.

Place your bets! This here and the general lack of news points to a trailer releasing in September/ Early October!

I actually liked the flag scene. Especially on repeat viewings of the trailer. It's nice, fun playfulness between Peter and Aunt May and Andrew's expression when he says "alright laundry sheriff" really sells it for me. Now, I'll shut up about the laundry scene before someone tells me to stop talking about it.

Yeah seriously. This past month of drought wasn't horrible, but I can't imagine a three month drought. Whew. Brutal. I am officially waiting til October for something.

That Danger High Voltage shirt is awesome.

This is an incredibly boring time lol.
Is there a Blu-Ray/DVD discussion thread for TASM?

Just stumbled across this animation reel. Looks like Peter was supposed to say "The hell is that?" during the bridge scene when he first sees the Lizard (the ASM portion starts around :47).

that could work as inner thoughts when Peter is fighting ,or not i recently saw the movie again with a commentary of the CBC , they hit a good point in my opinion written Spidey humor comes out as little bully-ish but is more evident when is live or animated.

That wouldn't stop it from being pointless. In CBMs, it usually done by acton. In comic books, they can use dialogue that can be quite dumb at times.

And besides, the last battle is NOTHING to joke about.

The only times in which Peter isn't joking while fighting a villain is when he's angry, and he's not angry regularly. Having Spidey making quips even during a serious situation is normal.

That's good for the comics (not really), but in the movies and one where he's just a rookie superhero, I doubt he would be talking in a serious fight.
