So that line got to you, but not "It's my birthday. Time to blow out the candles!" Or just Dillion just straight up saying "I'm Electro!" Or the cliche "Who I formely was is dead now!". Sounds like a pretty huge double standard to me, but why am I not surprised?

The same people who accuse others of being biased with the Raimi movies are in turn biased by the Webb ones. I guarantee you as such. Though I have noticed that Webb fanboys seem much more deluded than Raimi ones, maybe because the first two Raimi movies were legitimently well made.

I'm not picking on anyone who likes the Raimi films, I love them... Well, the first 2 anyways. I'm just defending Giamatti's scenes in TASM 2, that's all. I'm not a Webb fanboy or a Raimi fanboy, I'm a Spider-Man fanboy. Thanks.

Again it seems like you can't make a post without mentioning the other films, let is go GuestStar. It looks like you have some sort of vendetta against the films.:funny:

I thought Giamatti's role in the movie was really fun.

I can see the criticism against Aleksei, I even mentioned it in my review that he's a cheesy character. I was laughing through out the chase sequence. I wasn't laughing at the end though.

Thank you! I don't get why that's such a bad thing on these boards lol?

I can understand the criticisms but I thought it was fun. The least of the movie's problems I think.

So Raimi doing the raindrops wasn't a bit of fun to show how good Peter's life had become?

and that couldn't have been done with less? lol, toby over played it and the music took it to new levels and the end freeze was just..., i seen TV ads less cheesy

The montage is not even comperable with the dance number in SM3. The point is, it's fine to have preference but don't put down the other films to justify how good the new films are. Raimi is a campy director, that's his style. Worked up until SM3 where it seemed like he was saying **** you to Sony.

it was, the montage was like Raindrops mark 2, raimi often stuck to formula with his movies, aunt may gives peter advice which helps him, MJ gets kidnapped, i am pretty sure the street dance was mean't to be SM3's version of Raindrops

I thought the scene was funny but it was soooo cheesy and I can honestly see where the B&R comparisons come from. There's a character in that movie that reminded me of Kafka, that guy who worked with Poison Ivy before she turned evil.:oldrazz:

oddly all i could think of was every villain in Captain america: the first avenger

Being "fun" and being a caricature of a russian mobster aren't mutually exclusive. Two things you should try to avoid in your movies. Sterotypes and heavy handedness, and this movie has both in spades.

Can't wait for the double ham sandwich in TASM 3 the movie will start out with. :woot:

It's supposed to be a scene of blissful ignorance, that's the whole point. Bright, cheery ignorance. It sure as hell jelled a lot better with the movie than the cheese in this, and felt a lot more heartfelt rather than borderline immature. I don't have any problems with immaturity, but go all out on all cylinders if you're going that route.

I really hate the whole 'vs' crap that always seems to come up between the franchises. I can't wait to come in here after I've seen the movie and be labeled just cause I either liked or hated the movie :whatever: Cause you know, there's no way I could possibly enjoy it or hate it without being a loyalist of some kind.

doesn't change the fact it was cringeworthy cheesy in SM2

Haven't you heard? SM3 happened and Raimi took his cast and walked away.

And the feud between Kobe and Shaq was so bad, Shaq was traded. The Lakers still retired his jersey and acknowledged his contributions. I'd expect a studio not to act like a jilted ex and do what's best for business. Dividing the fan base won't net you more money. Reminds me of the braintrust and Brand New Day.

See I don't have a problem with you disliking the film, it's teh fact that you need to tear down the Raimi flicks inorder to justify how good Marc Webb's films are. It almost seems like you don't have a good enough counter argument against the criticisms people have on this franchise, so you lash out on the Raimi films.

You mean for a film set in the 40's with a deliberate pastiche of that era's serials...?:funny: What does this even have to do with Cap?:dry: Again you're bringing other films to justify the decisions Webb made in TASM. Try again.

Yeah, there were definitely tonal inconsistencies.

What other things did you not like?

Max Dillon's character?

Hmm. I didn't really have an issue with his character, I just thought there wasn't enough time devoted to developing him before his Electro transformation.

Sony, like any other studio, wants to make money. If, let's say, Disney had a very good director that delivered very good movie , but after a flop, walked away and tool his cast with him, Disney would still reboot the franchise. And that goes for ALL studios. They can certainly acknowledge the director's contributions, but that won't bring them money. A reboot will.

I haven't read this whole thread, but I'll say this. I was very critical of TASM and hated Garfield's Pete/Spidey. But, I just saw TASM2, and he is MUCH better in this one. The humor as Spidey is handled much better. And Pete's whole, screw my promise of the first one is replaced with guilt.

That said, although I like this better than the first TASM, I still had too many problems, Goblin being totally rushed, the Harry friendship forced out of left field, didn't feel much in the [BLACKOUT]Gwen death scene[/BLACKOUT]. Side note, a key element in the comics is the mystery of Goblin's id (and Hobgoblin's for that matter). This movie replaces it with ZERO mystery.

So, summing up, although better than the first installment, I just don't like the handling of this franchise and still prefer Raimi's take (although I do have problems with those too).

Well, hopefully you'll enjoy the sharp zing of hypocrisy once you take a bite:)

I enjoyed Rhino in TASM 2 and I'll enjoy him in TASM 3. Don't call me a hypocrite because I liked the hammy humor in TASM 2 over Raimi's series, that's my opinion and you have no right to tell me otherwise.

What else? And, are you planning on seeing the film for a second time?
