By contrast of going too far in either direction,Schumacher ended up covering his film in 5 slices of cheese in B&R and all the recent WB/DC films besides GL fancy themselves "filet mignon" to varying degrees of success.(BB,TDK did well with a limited amount,/MOS,not so much)

As far as TASM 2 goes,it's about a slice and a half of cheese.Probably an over compensation for TASM being a plain generic hamburger devoid of pickles,tomato and condiments.

Well,I've watched about 45 minutes of it,and they basically prefer Raimi & Maguire,so I'd say I agree with most of what they say.

If you mean overall critical opinion, TASM2 was rated a mere 6.2/10 (I think) on RT before American critics got a hold of it. The RT meter was higher, maybe 75% or so, but American critics merely moved the meter closer to its rating.
 
Yeah, critically.

The US has definitely been harder on the movie.
 
The US are harsher with every Superhero movie. If the movie was good enough, it wouldn't be a problem.
 
I just watched the WLF podcast and it was a wasn't of time they spend to much time joking about things like how does electro get his suit who cares. I disagree with them so much. What subplots where left underdevemopt? Peter found out what happened to his parents and really that was the only subplot other then maybe the plutonima thing. I do agree with the pltonima why was it being stolen? They say Andrew is to much of a jerk and to cokey I couldn't disagree more. How is he a jerk? They say that he has to much cokeyness has Spider man. In the comics when he is in the suit he is more confident and after he because spider man he becomes a little more confident has peter to. In the movie peter is still shy but a little more confident and he comes off has a good person and far form a jerk. He is funny and he injoeys being spider man. It was a nice change seeing him injoying being spider man for once. In the comics even though he has trouble with being spider man he injoys being spider man most of the time.
I don't think this guys understand who spiderman is.

Where in spider man 1-3 he don't real see that much. Yeah so what if he didn't thorw has many punches has in spider man 1-3 he used his webs and agilty more then he did in those witch makes the fights different but still great. His webs are a big part of spiderman and so is his agilty. They talk about how in the gobin fight he just uses his webs. He couldn't though a punch he had to try to hold on to gwen. The power plant fight is right there with the train fight for a close second best fight. The say he didn't learn any thing ether again not true. He wanted to stay away form gwen but realy loves hear. You could see the struggle but he is human what is he supposed to do stay away form ever one he nows. They make fun of the end with rino saying that it should have ended with the gwen death. It was a great ended because it showed that spider man knows he has a responsibility and that he will never go away that he is not a quitter. They don't even get into how funny spider man is. So just a tearble review in my mind. I just wasn't like 45 minutes of my life watching this.

But it was more than a slice and a half! And junk food is junk so... :down

Anyway, the best movies don't serve the lowest common denominator, they have humour that is natural (not forced) and complex villains, not dumb, cartoonish ones... you know a Spidey movie is bad when it could easily win any worst superhero movie of the year poll, only Guardians could be worse if it is the cheese fest it seems, we'll see.

Well, personally, I consider the movie more than "good enough", and according to your sig, you do, as well.

I'm guessing you were referring to the critic's opinions?
 
I just feel Webb didnt learn from the mistakes of TASM1, if anything, he amplified them. I always thought The Lizards very cheesy plan (it was even more cheesy considering it had been done in a CBM before) didnt mesh with the serious tone they were going with in the movie.

So in TASM2, he made the characters cheesier to match the rest. I personally think Webb has gotten away with far too little criticism with these movies, as I think many of the problems come from him.

I like them, but they are middling CBM's no were near the cream of the crop for me. I put TASM2 in the same brackett as Iron Man 3 and Thor 2, good, but VERY flawed and overall a waste of potential.

it's about time i read a great point. though i agree that it should've ended with gwen's funeral making the film tragic and let me tell you that if that did happen it would've been the first film that ended in a tragic note. sure spiderman 3 did it but it wasn't an ending that quite fit.

and they also bring up alot of great points about the raimi films and i can see what they're coming from with tobey's peter but at the same time i really don't like raimi's peter. sure he's nice, resposible, a growing character, and even has a sense of responsiblity but what was missing was peter's confidence as a person. it worked well in the 60s but that's only because it took place in the 60s and his character grew during his bcollege years when john romita took over and while we do see some old stories about 60s peter most of the series throughout are always about peter parker as a person and not always this shy and awkward geek that you knew him from high school. it would've been more acceptable if it were another character but for someone like peter parker and during his time in college? uh-uh.

i also don't get how people always think andrew is this big *******. how he got into oscorp i understand. the aftermath of uncle ben's death was **** too but everything else about him was shown to be understandable and people forget that he did a couple of nice things. how he lashed out at aunt may was due to him having some stress finding the killer and getting beaten up. and also people just misrepresnet the scene when peter came home he didn't tell aunt may to shut up but he just told her to go to sleep because it's hurting him that it's huritng her and it's a natural scene about how human's would interact. he just didn't want to deal with the pressure that he caused her. he also took a beating for that kid who was bullied by flash(also does anyone find it odd how a group of students were excited how that kid was being bullied?). and let's not forget that after the kid was thrown away by the lizard peter risked his identity just to calm him down and while the car was on fire peter gave the kid confidence. he also tried to helpe cure connors and even with a bullet in his leg he still did everything in his power to stop the lizard from turning the whole city into giant flesh eating reptiles. he even tried to help save the entire school from the lizard. he also kept gwen and george out of harms way. and even when people say the delted scenes don't count it still shows that peter isn't much of an ******* that people claim him to be. maybe they expected more out of him. i mean i hated him for how he got into oscorp. i know he kinda felt bad about it but that was still unacceptable and i understand why marc webb did this because of the backlash he keeps getting pre release but the aftermath of uncle ben's death completely takes away the essence of the character. but still, overall andrew isn't a complete *****e. maybe he's missing some aspects of the development and the development was there in the deleted scenes and quite possibly the director's cut version but maybe that's what people are saying. oh who am i kidding. if that were the case they've would've been feeling mixed about it instead of claiming how much andrew was an *******.

still i do hope that sony does lose the right and/or give us those director's cuts because marc and andrew deserve better and that goes for the rest of the cast and crew. seriously, if the first one hadn't been cut it woulkd've been better than the raimi trilogy and would even make the avengers look like that old ****** JLA movie with the flash, atom, and well just go watch nash and linkara's review on it and see it for yourseleves it's really awful. but if spiderman does revert back to marvel i would love to see him team up with daredevil since they were best pals in the comics. and if spidey does appear in the avengers he needs to be written well because writers like roger stern and bendis seem to have trouble with spidey in the avengers like stern has written spidey like some *******. you want to talk about how andrew acts like a *****e for some reason the best spiderman writer has written spidey completely out of character and it's a shame how one of my childhood writers from highschool, the one i enjoy the most, bendis, has written spiderman into and immature and annoying idiot. so hopefully when he does appear in the avengers they would at least do him justice.

what do you think of them thinking about uncle ben?

I don't necessarily disagree with anything you say,but I see the Lizard's "plan" always brought up as one of TASM's negatives.Now,I make no bones about my disdain for that film,but isn't that always the Lizard's go to plan in most of the famous comics/cartoon episodes?There isn't really much more to Lizard's MO than to turn everybody like him.So I never get the criticism that they used it in the movie.:huh:

Yeah that is the thing with tobey peter parker is that he wasn't real any different about him when he got out of high school. Heck I have alrese been a shy akward guy expecial around girls but I am a lot better then I was in high school where I didn't talk to any body lol. Peter would he got to collage showed have been a little different and like I said he never really got more confident after he became spider man ether.

The thing about peter being a jerk is that he did pluty of good things. He was great with that kid in asm2 and he tried to keep ant may form knowing when he told her to go to sleep in asm1 has he didn't want her to wore about him. Yeah the police thing with the car jacker he acted a little stuck up but he had just had his uncle die and had just gotten a lot of power and he is a teenager. Teenagers can be insisitve at times and if a teenager and just gotten a lot of power and had just lost someone close to them I am sure that power would go to your head at first no one is perect we all mess up. He tries to stay away form gwen even though he loves her and in asm2 he goes to see harry to see how he is doing after his farther dies that dosnt sound insisitve to me. Yeah that to he stood up to a bulie and took a beating like you said instead of just being like ever one else and just stand there and watch. Also that sences with any may about your my boy showed how peter cares and appercatis any may but just fells a empty space not nowing what happened with his parents.

While with uncle ben that is one thing I like a lot more in spider man 2 is how they have that sence with him where peter is talking about how he dosnt want to be spider man any more. I do think they could have talked about him a little more but they did talk about him a few times. I do think that could have been a little better but man I love this movie! May brings him up and few times and at one point she saids something about getting ride of his stuff or something and Andrew looks conserd about that.

He didnt always want to turn people into Lizards, he was just a menace sometimes. But yeah that story just didnt seem to mesh with the serious tone they were going for in the 1st movie, I think they should have picked another story or another villain.

I just dont think Webb has a focused vision for these movies, and I think with stuff like this it shows and its the reason TASM2's response is so mixed, because the movie itself is.
 
A Sinister Six movie where they are all fighting each other the whole time...until the end where they fight and lose to Spider-Man...

So it would be like the anti-Avengers?

Would kids and moviegoers even want to see that?
 
It would be interesting to see how the fights would be choreography with him fighting 6 villinas at the same time. The most we have seen him fight at once is just 2 and that one just once at the end of sm3.

I think right now Sony is re-thinking doing a Sinister 6 movie. Not sure about Venom, that seems like less of a risk, though they need to introduce him in a Spiderman movie 1st.

completly agree, i think that they did great with spidey and every scene with him and Gwen, May or even Harry is great but when it comes to writting the villains, secondary characters and plot points, they failed today i was thnking that these writters have something with super blood ,
Khan and now spider-man
it´s sad that it seems that this year´s least liked CBM is going to be Spider-man :waa: , i hope they change writters i´m super SERIAL
