Yeah and even the worst of the MCU is better than Amazing 2.

Thor 2 is better. But the best parts of TASM2 fill me more than the ones in Thor 2, that goes a long way. There are bits and pieces of TASM2 that belonged in a much better movie. It's funny to find myself half-defending it after all the time I spent hating that first film. Now that it's dead, that entire series is currently going through the "Everything sucks!" stage of fickle fanboy pummeling, but there's stuff in it that deserves to exist and I'm glad that it does.

Wow... it's like a choice between slow death by starving or slow death by poison.

:hehe:
When people compare movies they hate to death or torture......

I always like a story Spider-Man is a part of.
Don't share the same enthusiasm toward Thor.

Comparing these two is like comparing polar extremes of two desserts.

Thor is the pinky-sized chocolate cheesecake with a light drizzle of chocolate sauce. You like it when you taste it, but then realize the overreliance on chocolate lessens the taste for you. Additionally, the portion is too ****ing small that you want more so you can actually get a better idea of what the taste is.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is a giant belgian waffle topped with oreo ice cream, fudge and brownie pieces, white chocolate chips, heavily drizzled with chocolate sauce. It has its moments when you indulge in it, but then the gigantic portion size is too overwhelming for you. You wish the chef cut down on the unnecessary stuff and brought out more of the tastes that were actually great.

It'd be a better analogy if you applied the Peter Gwen relationship or Sally Field as the waffle and all the other stuff as like horseradish, mayonnaise and everything else that shouldn't be on a waffle.

Since we're comparing the movies to food;

Thor 2 is like a cheeseburger where banana is used instead of bread. It's a tone-deaf movie made of parts that shouldn't go together.

Amazing Spider Man 2 is like a Quiznos sandwich. It's pretending to be fancy when it really isn't.

I'd put it simply like this; Thor 2 is something edible but not satisfying for your hunger. TASM 2 is inedible and will leave you feeling off.

I would say just the opposite of those comparisons. I was highly dissapointed with TDW, because I was expecting something grander and more epic.

TASM2 was the movie that didn't fit well together. Forcing the Green Goblin in where it didn't fit, just to get the Gwen Stacy Death scene. More stuff about Peter's dad we don't care about. Throwing in a useless villain like Rhino.

The Rhino in itself didn't annoy me, just the portrayal. If they did like TWS did with Bartoc in the beginning, it wouldn't have been as goofy.

I felt like the Rhino was dishonest.

The marketing implied he would be a badass in the film.

Not really.

I'd take Thor: The Dark World.

There were so much promotion and marketing for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, that when the movie came out. My expectations lowered for the final product.

I caught a bit of Spidey fatigue because of the amount of trailers, tv spots and pictures that Sony was shoving down my face.

TASM2 was awesome, despite all it's flaws. Great character love, great moments. Thor TDW was boring shallow garbage

Having just rewatched these two films, I'd say that both are bad, but I'd give the slight edge to TASM2. It's not an easy choice, though.

Thor has the advantage in Loki. However, Loki doesn't steal the show as much as I remembered. Still a much better character than any one in TASM2.

I'd say that TASM2 has more scenes that are painful to watch. It screwes over characters like the villains, as well as Peter Parker himself sometimes. However, it has a few scenes that are somewhat enjoyable to watch. Watching Thor 2, I didn't find such low points as in TASM2. However, I didn't feel that any scene was particularily enjoyable at all. The whole film is extremely dull and almost all of the attempts at humour are ill placed. While Electro, Green Goblin and Rhino are terribly written villains, I at least somewhat enjoyed Electro visually. Whereas while Malekith isn't as terribly written (because he's basically a living plot point where there's not even any attempt to make him more interesting, which would mean taking some risks), he's so grey and boring that I enjoyed him less somehow. At least Electro expresses some kind of personality, even though he's dumb.

The way I felt when Selvig was running around naked is how a lot of people claim to feel about jar jar binks.

I felt worse.
As annoying as Jar Jar is in the Phantom Menace, Selvig was just embarrassing and useless in that scene.

The Dark World, easily. Amazing 2 killed my interest in a solo Spidey for a while, while TDW was average but not enthusiasm-killing.

I haven't even bought the Spider-Man blu-ray. From me, that's saying something.

On that note, I'm a life long Spider-man fan. I own two thousand Spider-man comics, at least 70 graphic novels, and saw every Spider-man movie in theaters at least three times.
Saw ASM 2 once, and waited till the blu-ray came out and even then I was pretty torn on whether or not to spend the money. That says a lot.
TDW was the first Marvel movie I walked out feeling disappointment, but even then there's a lot to like in the movie.

imo TASM2 has higher highs nd lower lows than TDW.

TASM2 has an overstuffed story with several underdeveloped threads (similar to AoU in that way), but theres a lot of intrigue and emotional resonance. Whereas I dont remember TDW's story. It never got me to care about it in the first place.

So I'll take TASM2.

I've seen TASM 2 at least four or five times since my first viewing and walk away loving it just as much every single time, whereas I've only seen TDW once and can barely even remember most of it, it was so forgettable.

Same here, except I saw the movie a few times in theaters. I thought the effects in 3D were really well done and just watching the movie was fun for me. The flaws stood out more and more as time went by and I knew it would never look that good at home. Plus with all the drama the franchise has dealt with since, I feel totally fine not revisiting the film, so far anyway.

Spidey's best days are yet to come!
