It definitely reminds me of the last episodes of Batman Beyond when Terry reveals his face in order to save a kid from a burning building. I'm assuming since the clip was probably chopped up that the kid is spooked by Spider-man, which is another reason why he takes his mask off.

I'm still not seeing this so called "TDK vibe" that some people have been talking about. It's just Spider-Man set in more of a night time setting. The movie doesn't seem to be grounded, unless, you think a boy with superhuman powers that can climb walls, and a man turning into a huge lizard is somehow "grounded", than.....sure.

Marc Webb mentioned that he was aiming for something grounded like TDK; which is a good technical approach. The only thing that's been making me mad about the film, which isn't itself, but ALL of the comparisons and trying to live up to be like Batman: Amazing Spiderman was meant to be taken within the same approach of The Dark Knight, Andrew Garfield's portrayal of Peter Parker can be compared to Heath Ledger's Joker, and EVEN in an issue of game informer I got FRIDAY, said the Amazing Spiderman game is striving for some of the same elements of Arkham City.

It's all good that you want to use these attributes to make a better Spiderman for this generation, but it's like you're wanting to live and be raped by Batman's shadow. It's getting my nerves a little.

Nope. The preview didn't do anything for me. I do love the shots of spidey swinging though NY, though. Except the one where he swings down through some cars in the city...It looked kinda choppy.

The bridge scene hit me to the core. Andrew is spider-man. In no way did this give off a tdk vibe. It gave off a spider-man vibe. Can't wait !

LOVED that bridge scene between Spidey and the kid. Wow...just wow. Screw any of the trailers because THAT'S the kind of scene that makes me love Spider-Man.

I also agree with the sentiments about the marketing of this movie as "the untold story".

The face Pete makes after saving the kid was spot on. I actually cared for the kid and spidey. It takes an actor to make an audience feel for him. And in this one minute scene I did. Thumbs up to Webb and Andrew for the subtle acting. This and the gwen/ Pete classroom scene won me over. The subtle acting is the best kind, this doesn't feel forced.

I also really appreciated the line change from trailer 3, "how do you move on when your past is a mystery?" Much better than "finding the truth about my parents." Just wish they would have gone with that first.

I've said from the start that Sony has marketed this film very poorly. I agree with what's been said, that they're almost apologizing for this film as not being a part of Raimi's films. I just wish they would embrace the fact that this Spidey is a completely different take on the character and it's an honest to God reboot. There's not reason not to. People are going to piss and moan either way, but marketing this way does indeed cause confusion, which has obviously been the case. I have to explain to people all the time what this movie really is and why it's doing what it's doing, and why it will be better than the previous trilogy.

There IS confusion regarding this film among the GA and it's all due to poor marketing from Sony. No wonder they're going under, they just can't seem to make any decisions on anything.

Here's the thing though--that clip they showed of Spidey rescuing the kid from the car will be seen as VERY much like the Sam Raimi films, not just because of the whole holding a heavy object while suspended from a bridge but that it also revolves around him willingly taking his mask off in front of someone he doesn't know yet again. And since this is supposed to be a reboot, showcasing a very Raimi-esque scene as a way of promoting a movie is seems as counter-productive as you suggest. Overall, I agree. Very mixed messages about how they are trying to promote the film overall.

When I went to see the avengers from what I was hearing people seem to dig the 2nd trailer. Most of the audience laughed at the small knife line. You guys sound too worried. I don't feel a raimi vibe at all. It's more stylized than the raimi movies, and intentionally funny.

I don't think the general audience is that dumb either. I'm just saying that the way Sony is showcasing this movie, the tone is all over the place. Most of their trailers have suggested a "darker, more realistic" tone. Then we get preview clips which put emphasis on humor (and I agree, I did chuckle at the "small knives" line too, even though I think the dialogue has been edited from the original clip where that scene comes from). And then we have this scene from the preview which is a "suspenseful but inspirational" scene that was very reminiscent the Raimi films, minus the American Flag waving in the background, of course. t: The tone of the movie one is trying to promote is important, after all.

PLUS, Webb has already acknowledged that the tone feels different from the beginning of it looking like an indie flick to a full-on CBM with spectacular effects. I'm sure Webb understands what this film is trying to do and is fine about the many "aspects" that the film will carry.

Even though the Dark Knight wore different hats, it's basic and predominant tone was one of "gritty realism" to match the idea that it was essentially a "suspense-driven urban crime noir a la Heat with Batman in it." And if that is indeed the approach Webb is going for, hopefully that transition from "indie flick" to full on "effects driven superhero hero action movie" won't be too jarring.

Batman Begins really had the same tone from the beginning.
