The cinema studies major said he liked the Hurt Locker more than Avatar. Another friend replies that he likes Avatar a lot more. The guy who studies film said that the other is wrong simply because he is a cinema studies major.

He's not that jerky though haha...he is a film student but he just prefers certain elements over others...he generally dislikes superhero films but really enjoyed TDK. We dragged him to TF3 when it came out just to torture him. 'twas beautiful.

It's all a matter of preference.

lol my bad man, I saw it after I posted mine but hey, we agree. Forms of entertainment are based on subjectivity. Unless there's some mathematical equation to base a good movie on, we will all have different opinions. I'd argue someone to death about the Godfather being the greatest flick ever but I'm not going to have a heart attack if they just don't like it. It's too long for some people, a lot of dialogue and the gangster stuff that happens is few and far in between so I can understand their issues with it. When I was 18, Spider-Man 2 was the greatest comic book flick to me hands down...4 years later, I saw the dark knight and changed my tune. Doesn't make spider-man 2 not great just means my opinion changed with growth and what I liked in a movie vs what I didn't like. But if anyone told me they disliked either one of those movies I wouldn't hold it against them

No. You didn't explain the novelty of Spider-Man. You just pointed out the novelty of all superheroes.

Superheros are awesome not just because of the "hero" part. But also because as kids (and even adults), we fantasize having their powers. Thats not just for Spider-Man.

You dont get it,How is Spider-man different from other superheros?

He is not a billionaire,he is not an alien,he is not a scientist,he is not a mutant,or a lab rat.

He is an ordinary high schooler(Maybe a genius) but still just a teenager.The web shooters are a small part of the extraordinary superpowers he gains accidently

WTF is going on?! Seeing what we've seen, there is like zero chance that the movie is bad, I don't understand these silly rumors of the movie being bad and etc, but it's starting to spread.

WTF is going on?! Seeing what we've seen, there is like zero chance that the movie is bad, I don't understand these silly rumors of the movie being bad and etc, but it's starting to spread.

This really bums me out. I can't wait for more people (like you Tim_Riggins) to see the movie and start posting sincere reactions. But even though I want to disregard negative things like the Latino Review guy's tweets, I can't help but get affected by it. If it's a mind-blowingly awesome movie like it looks in the footage I've seen so far, then the buzz around it should be "Saw it, it's F'n glorious." not "lower your expectations". I'm getting a little worried. I hope the buzz tide turns soon with more leaks, hopefully positive reactions.

A few people on the internet have come out saying that they've seen different cuts of the film because they're a "sony insideer" and that the film is "goddamn awful". However, doing that is just as easy as someone saying they're a sony exec and that the film is an 8/10. But of course, the negative news will always gain more attention, and perhaps have more truth to it. Any case, just really keep expectations low because in the end, it may just help you.

I don't know how the industry works, but I wonder how anyone can get to see a test screening unless they were an exec. Even if he is connected in the industry, online journalists won't get to see the film until a few more weeks which should be a better indicator how well good or bad the film is.

Also, can anyone explain why ASM is already rated on critic's choice awards?

It would be tragic for so many reasons if the movie ends up being bad, one of the biggest being how much playing Spider-Man means to Andrew Garfield, and how badly he wants to do a good job of it, not to mention how amped us Spidey fans are for a good Spider-Man film.

Despite Spider-Man 3 being a huge disappointment, I know several people who like it, or even love it more than the first two movies. Does it mean they have "bad taste?" No, of course not. I respect their opinion. I have a library of films that most people despise, but that isn't going to stop me from enjoying the movies!

I'm wasn't really looking forward to it but I always thought it would end up getting decent reviews and at least be fresh on rotten tomatoes. God, the anticipation of whether ASM will be good or bad is killing me.

On the contrary, I got exactly what you were saying. I'm not dumb.

Did you read what I said properly? You were talking about how as a kid you thought of becoming Spidey yourself. What I said was that that part is not just exclusive to Spidey. Thats the essence of ALL superheroes! His relatability however, is a different matter. Thats what has made him stand out more among the other superheros.

And the stuff about him being ordinary is beyond obvious by now. I myself said that before and its been said for decades. EVERYONE knows Spidey is popular because he is a superhero with regular problems. The accident is a very very small part of what makes Spidey, well... Spidey. Its just a plot device for Peter to get his powers. That is all.

Him getting bitten on accident or not doesnt change much. Ask anyone why they like Spidey. Its not because "oh, that spider could have bit me too". I've NEVER gotten that response. You could say the same for any other superhero that got his powers by accident (and there are a good amount of them). The way they got their powers hardly matters in the end of the day. What matters is the character and the powers and the villains.

You know, I've been thinking about what type of demographics films are test screened for and so I looked Transformers 3. Turns out it was the best received Bay film. ever.

I didn't expect Snow White and the Huntsman to get great reviews honestly.

Spider-Man 3 still managed to get a 62% on rotten tomatoes.

Men in Black III was considered unnecessary but it currently holds a 69%, which is pretty good considering the circumstances and the quality of the movie.

I don't think ASM will get an astounding 95% RT rating, but I picture somewhere around 85%. Hopefully no lower than 80...

That fact is definitely a reason to be optimistic, but for me cautiously so as I feel he has a vested interest (in whatever way). But definitely good that he spoke very positively. I am really waiting for critics and especially Spider-Man fans to chime in, as I'm sure everyone else is.

Me neither, it looks top notch in every way I can tell. They'd really have to drop the ball badly to botch this.

The thing is that he did not work on the film at all, so I would have thought he would give it a poor review, hoping that Marvel would get the film rights back. But he liked it, and has high hopes for ALL comic films, even non-Marvel ones.

ASM's first reactions (def. not reviews, but rather simple expressions if Sony will be kind enough) will hit off during next week and the one after. They're already setting up dozens of screenings worldwide (I've seen the lists and dates, just need to see how and when I'll manage to do something useful).

Judging on a superficial level based on the footage and the talent involved, I can't see this film getting anything lower than SM1 which was 89% on RT. However, as the release date comes closer, the possibility of it doing well critically seems unlikely. Because I'm pessimistic.
