I remember reading an interview with Khan in regards to a conversation he had with Webb. He basically said that he told Webb (before being cast) that he had no interest in becoming a monster of some sort. Webb told him not to worry. Seemed pretty irrelevant either way. If it were important in terms of the character or story, I highly doubt he would have been cast.

I think they changed the name because they were never going to use Proto Goblin anyways. It avoids confusion and speculation.

With that being said, there's still a lot of people who think that Khan's playing Proto Goblin...

Mohawk Peter would be a deal breaker for me. But no one in their right mind would even propose that. It'd be like giving Peter a pet Dinosaur to ride on. Too ridiculous to take seriously.

I think thy just meant Sony and Marvel shared a studio lot and the trailers for the repsective films were there.

HOWEVER, I think its in the realm of possibility that Marvel and Sony could have struck a deal allowing Spidey to appear in an Avegers film in the future or to have the new Spidey exist in the same universe.

Seeing a reference to other heroes and have a Spidey allusion in ther Avengers or having SLJ show up in an after credits scene for TASM would be mindblowing.

Nerds everywhere would have heart attacks from the epicness.

Not unless a there wasn't a reference in Avengers and rather a shield agent (Fury or Coulson) appeared in an after credits scene in TASM (which would have taken place after The Avengers) and it was the beginning of whats being called "Phase 2" by Marvel, kinda like Iron Man's after credits started "Phase 1".

If they are going the Ultimate route for the Marvel movieverse, it could tie in Parker's parents having dealings with SHIELD or other characters related to them.

To be honest, I don't want any other movie references in TASM. I want it to be it's own film, and I think it will be a different feel if there were some sort of reveal like at the end of CA, IM, and al those
