It could always take place after ASM. The Tony Stark cameo in 'The Incredible Hulk' takes place after Iron Man 2, which came out 2 years after that movie was out.

I don't get this whole "Spider-Man should be in his own universe" thing. I love it when Spidey interacts with other heroes. Also, its sort of illogical. Whenever Spidey's in a universe by himself, I always think "Why aren't there other heroes like Spider-Man out there, if all these villains keep getting made".

I agree with this, but I still want Spidey to exist in his own universe. I wouldn't object to a cameo in an Avengers movie or something, but I don't want Spider-Man movie sequels to turn into Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends.

A cameo to acknowledge that there are indeed others like him and he's not alone would be cool, but that's it.

Fanboys treat Spidey the same as Bats because they are honestly their respective label's flagship characters. Superman is basically the pinnacle, so he would always be a linchpin in someone's book.

I'm glad he said this. As he even said, Spider-Man has too big of an universe to be merged with the MCU. His rogue gallery beats Iron Man's, Cap's, Hulk's and Thor's combined.

I deleted that part, haha. Re-read what you said and just noticed that you said you liked that he said it though, haha.

I don't like him for what he did with Spider-Man 3, but....it wasn't all his fault, so I have no problem with him. Much like I don't have a problem with Sam Raimi. I just have a problem with Spider-Man 3.

LOL. It's all good.

SM3 was a 'team effort' in the fault dept. but that's not why I don't like Avi. Something about the guy just bugs me.

Columbia Pictures has released the official synopsis for director Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man, opening in 3D, 2D and IMAX theaters on July 3. This is how the studio describes the film:

One of the world's most popular characters is back on the big screen as a new chapter in the Spider-Man legacy is revealed in "The Amazing Spider-Man." Focusing on an untold story that tells a different side of the Peter Parker story, the new film stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, with Martin Sheen and Sally Field. The film is directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay written by James Vanderbilt, based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Laura Ziskin, Avi Arad, and Matt Tolmach are producing the film in association with Marvel Entertainment for Columbia Pictures, which will open in theaters everywhere in 3D on July 3, 2012.

"The Amazing Spider-Man" is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance – leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

Was just about to post it, you beat me to it. Sounds good. They really are focusing on the parents side of things quite a bit.

I dunno I just feel like were retreading water here, just a different take. We all know how peter becoems spiderman so just get into it with the lizard. The character was in 2 spiderman movies and all they need was alittle more story and were good to go. Im completely over tobey and sam and thought they needed new blood but not an entire redo. Hey I was worng about First class last year and maybe Ill be wrong again. This could be first class or it could be green lantern.

Avi Arad isn't shooting the lastest rumor down. That's from July 2011.

There has been no response from the studios on the latest rumor.

You mean the latest rumour about the prospect of a Spidey cameo.... that he already shot down? You really need him to say it every time someone starts the same rumour?

No. I'm just saying that that particular response to the question is not recent like many people think though it does confirm what we knew from before this film was even planned, Spidey won't be in the avengers.

I just reviewed SPIDER-MAN 3 last night. Just to see if it's still bad.... Funny enough... it still is!

That movie failed so huge, that it almost brings tears to my eyes. That movie is the reason they chose to reboot the franchise. YES! It is the reason, so let's not get in to it. Yeah, But Raimi was forced! It's not the movie he wanted to make, blah blah blah. Never the less, it stunk... The whole series just went tired. Such repeaters in so many ways that it got boring, like hell.

There are many things/pieces within spidey 3 that I could take out which was freaken awesome, oh yes! The same I can say about Superman 3 - But as a whole, they are just a mess and pretty bad.

Can't wait to see Webbs Spidey, and can't WAIT to see Garfield unfold as Peter Parker aka Spidey! Cause this franchise needs fresh blood.

(I'm actually quite glad the trailer didn't hit the past week while I was in New York. I wouldn't have been able to see it)
