how about we all get back on topic of the new film and stop defending or *****ing about the raimi films before the mods crack down on us?

You should still have a say so, even in negative, if you cherish the character so much and you dislike the movie so much. Nothing wrong with that.
I agree it's defiently ok to talk about it because it shows how much you care for the character, I'm just surprised people can explain in detail why they disliked it so much after all these years. I mean, there has to be a way you already expressed your feelings by now right?

Personally, Venom should not have to team up with anyone, lol.

But yes, we do need to see the symbiote return, but I can't see it happening with the reboot series. Sure, Venom may have a huge fan base still, but that shouldn't be the reason we see Venom, imo. If anything, and this is the sad part, it'll make more sense to do the Ultimate symbiote for Webb's series...and that sucks.

I see no good reason to use the Ultimate Venom suit.

The Chapelle Show is hilarious!

awesome to find ANOTHER Chappelle show fan lol..so, I'm assuming Sony has someone my age, early to mid 20s, running their Facebook page for Spider-Man..geez he or she needs to get on there and be a bit more interactive lol..Although they proudly retweeted Stan Lee's picture with Avi on set

C'mon now, you just don't want to hear anyone complaining about any of Raimi's trilogy :oldrazz:

Well, there are some people that can remember easily, lol. Even after just watching the film twice, I do still remember how bad the film was, and what made it so bad. Thus, I will add in my two cents if the topic comes up, haha.

I see no good reason to use the Ultimate Venom suit.

I see plenty of reasons to use Ultimate Venom, even if that isn't the better choice.

1.) Webb's series already seems to be showcasing a more science-like atmosphere; which not to bash against Raimi's because his was the same, but I just feel like Webb's will have a stronger impact on that level.

2.) With Peter's parents working for OsCorp, then that could quickly work into Eddie's parents working alongside them which could lead to something like the Venom arc in the Ultimate comics.

3.) It may not be a great reason, but with the alien symbiote having been used in Raimi's series, we could very well see that take on the symbiote and Venom to just be different. Heck, we've already seen this with the suit looking different just because of that. Now, granted, Webb's suit has some liberties which makes it more simple and also more realistic, such as the gloves and webshooters, but it obviously was made to look different just because as there is no other reasoning for the boots, the stripes down the legs, etc.

Although, a great way to keep in the science aspect is to have the symbiote, but perhaps something that was found twenty years ago or so and Peter's parents, while working with Eddie's parents, were testing it, seeing how it works and what not. Either they were testing it to see if they could duplicate it as they think it could be an asset for the military, or what have you, or they were secretly doing experiments on it in thinking it could make OsCorp better since no one knew that had taken this life form.

Andrew Garfield Interview from SFX:

On Tobey Maguire:
I loved Tobey Maguire's interpretation of the character. It's one of the things that reminded me how much this character means to me. When I watched that first Spidey film, I lost my mind and I watched it back-to-back - I watched it twice in a row when I first saw it. And I had the wonderful fortune of meeting him after we finished shooting. I didn't seek him out but he sent a very, very, very nice email once it was announced, basically giving me his blessing. It meant the world to me because I respected him so much as an actor generally, and now with the role that I am assuming.
On favorite Spider-Man comics:
The Todd McFarlane comic book series was one of my favourites. I love the Ultimate Spider-Man. I only got into the Ultimate series during research for the film but that was a really great source of how I wanted Spidey's body to look.

I loved Mark Bagley's artwork in that and how lithe and how skinny he was because I'm skinny. I love the idea of a skinny teenage kid beating the crap out of huge guys. What better way to do it and give other skinny kids in the audience a chance to achieve that?
On the day, when he was cast as Spider-Man:
I was in Cancun at a Sony press junket for the Social Network, waiting to hear about whether or not I would be able to fulfill a childhood dream - which wasn't annoying at all to be waiting for that knowledge! I was surrounded by people who knew. I was looking around, reading every eyebrow twitch or lip curl that might have given away whether or not I'd gotten the role and everybody was incredibly pokerfaced.

After the press day of talking about the Social Network, Amy Pascal's assistant came and got me from the room I was in and he said, "Hey, Stoneface, Amy wants to have a quick word with you up in her suite." And I thought, "Okay, fine, she's going to let me down easily, that's really sweet of her, to tell me personally that I didn't get the role."

So I went up and then I walked into her room and there was a flip video camera set up on record on the door as I came in - but the person that answered the door was Marc Webb (the director of the Amazing Spider-Man). And at that point I was like, "This is going to be the most defining turning point in my life." There was champagne and there was sweetness and lots of love in that room and I'll never forget it. And then we went down the back of the hotel we were at, through the kitchen, where everybody was really confused because I was being treated like Elvis but I looked like a skinny little spider-monkey... everyone was baffled by who I was because I looked like a member of the staff!

They just took what he told the press at SDCC and printed it. Thanks for posting it, anyways.

Is this franchise confirmed to be a trilogy? If so, does anybody think the entire franchise will be set in high school? I enjoyed Spectacular Spider-man a lot, and I wouldnt mind it being so.

It's gonna be a "series of films." So, that's just more than one, haha. I doubt the whole series will be in high school. Garfield can only portray a teenager for so long.

He probably could pull off the next movie in high school too.

Not that I want him to.

At the very least, they're planning on going forward with a sequel.

When they hire the writer of the first film to come back and write a sequel, I think it's pretty safe to say that there will be a sequel. :cwink:

Even if the studio plans on sequels that doesn't mean it'll happen.

If the movie performs badly at the BO it definitely won't happen. It's all dependent on box office numbers.

I've lost count of the times execs have said they plan on making sequels for the first entry that hasn't even been released yet and once it does and performs terribly any talk of sequels goes to the wayside once the movie is yanked from theaters.

If it does well it will obviously get a sequel and if it doesn't then the whole franchise will be up in the air especially considering Sony Pictures financial situation.

OK, OK. Fine. Lemme rephrase my statement.

There.

Sony made another Ghost Rider film with Nicolas Cage just to hold on to the rights and that was a niche Marvel property, with a first film that wasn't well received.

Spider-Man is not only a billion dollar property but it's Sony's flagship franchise (and Marvel's flagship character). They'll make more just to hold on to the IP.
