The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The Amazing Spider-Man - Tie it in with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

I think if Spider-Man was going to be in the MCU, it wouldn't be until phase three IMO.

Speaking of which, how many "phases" of movies will the MCU have? What are your guys' speculations? Only asking because AT SOME POINT, I do believe that Sony will no longer have the rights to Spider-Man. Unless they continue making movies every 5 years for as long as they are in business.

Didn't separate studios team up to make Alien vs. Predator?

I don't know if Spider-Man will be in Avengers 2 but I bet everything he will be in Avengers 3.

Marvel has 3 phases planned out over 15 years I believe. Phase 1 was completed with Avengers.

Do they know exactly what they want to do with the MCU, or do they just know that it will span 15 years?

I think they are thinking out the story arcs in phases. It will be interesting to see how things work phase 2. I don't think they know yet what will happen with phase 3.

I'm hoping for a Daredevil and Punisher film now that they have the rights to those characters.

Marvel said Phase 3 will be mostly films about characters not done in live-action yet. Other than Ant-Man, Doctor Strange is also confirmed for Phase 3 (no release date yet though).

is spiderman in the MCU really a huge deal that needs to be kept secret though?

I want my Punisher movie :(

IDK how interested I am in a Dr. Strange film. Black Panther or Luke Cage on the other hand...

Phase 3 most likely looks like:
Ant-Man, Nov 2015
Dr. Strange, April 2016
TASM 3, May 2016
Thor 3, Nov 2016
Black Panther, 2017
SHIELD (TV), hopefully running throughout

I would not be surprised at all if TASM2 is somehow referenced in some of the upcoming MCU films or vice versa.

I don't think they have an "ending" in mind - I believe they plan on it going on indefinitely like the comics...or the James Bond franchise. Afterall, as a studio, these are the only movies Marvel has. It's not like Sony or Fox where it's just one brand amidst dozens and plenty of regular ol' films. Sure, they'll want to start doing some original, more indie-esque movies at some point and will eventually want to reboot the MCU once they grow stale with the general public - again, like Bond - but I don't think they expect that to happen any time in the foreseeable future. They're just gonna keep bringing in heroes from the comics to start new franchises, expanding their universe and telling their stories in these arcs/"phases." THOSE will have endings (I'm guessing the end of Phase III will feel like a conclusion of sorts with the original group of Avengers), but I don't think they intend one for the MCU itself. They wouldn't have established their own studio for this if they were only planning a finite story.

In other words, prepare to start hearing about "Phase IV" in the next couple of years, lol.

I imagine Avengers 3 is the end of the road for Downey, Evans and maybe Hemsworth.

People will probably lose interest after Phase II,It cant go on indefinitely

I think it could be much earlier for Downey,I wouldnt be surprised if he is recasted after TA2

they won't recast Downey if he doesn't wanna stop doing it

and its hard to say how downey feels about it, he seems to like the role alot from what it seems like

I think Spidey is the only viable replacement for Stark. I think IM could get killed off at the end of A2 or A3. Or IM4 if that's in the cards. Then bring in Garfield's Spidey with hopefully Hulk still on the roster. That's the Holy Grail of Marvel right there. I don't think you can top that before it starts getting silly, with the likes of Wolverine, Spidey, CA, Thor, IM, AND Hulk. That's just overkill.

I think we need a Stark Industries teaser in ASM 2. Just an easter egg to wet the fanboys pants. Then go full scale MCU in ASM3, and involve the SHIELD and potentially other Marvel characters, especially if the threat is the Sinister 6. It's probably too soon for that so maybe save that stuff for ASM4.

Honestly, I am not going to cry if Spidey doesn't show up in Avengers 3, but it would be advantageous for Sony. If I were Sony, I'd agree to it if I could take some other characters as collateral. I'd like to get DD, Punisher, and Blade from Marvel along with Ghost Rider and tackle some darker material. Ultimately I don't think a deal will be worked out between the two studios when all is said and done, but I believe the two universes may eventually coalesce into the same world, especially if Garfield does a 4th or 5th movie as Spiderman.

I'd go:

2016: ASM 3
2017: Thor 3/Cap 3/IM 4 (any 2/3)
2018: Avengers 3
2019: ASM 4 (Sinister 6 or Venom)
2020: ASM 5 (Part 2 of Sinister 6 or Venom)
2021: Filler year for other characters
2022: Avengers 4 (Spidey officially on the roster)

i think many want to see spidey and iron man in the same film, and i think marvel would like that also

but you seriously think they will kill stark off? i have to say i have a hard time believing they would do that

infact why does everyone think downeys iron man won't be part of the avengers one day, downey seems happy with the role

really it would be the best idea to bring spiderman in for TA2

Agreed. I feel like they are going to have to pull Iron Man back as the face of the MCU when Downey is finally recast.

They are going to need another character/actor to step up during the transition period and perhaps beyond.

I think Spidey is the best choice.

Avengers 2 can be a passing of the torch film, with Iron Man/Tony helping Peter reach his fill potential.

Evans and Hemsworth? Yes.

Downey? He won't make it past Avengers 2.

why? downey keeps goin bck to the role for a reason.

Jackman keeps returnin for wolverine so i don't see why downey would wanna leave the role

i really have no clue why people think he will leave after the avengers 2, even if he doesnt make an iron man 4 he probably would be in the avengers 3, which means he has a few years rest from role before avengers 3.

Downey has to much star power to throw away

He's just getting up there in age. He'll be 50 when Avengers 2 comes out. meaning, he'll be nearing 53 when Avengers 3 hits.

He might stay on after Avengers 2, but I doubt we'll ever see him in another solo IM film. His role will likely be reduced to that of Nick Fury or the Hulk, appearing only in crossovers or specific film appearances when necessary.

I could be wrong, but I just don't see him continuing beyond Avengers 2, Avengers 3 max. Though TBH, I fully expect a wide "reboot" of the MCU following A3 anyways. Same continuity, but refreshed. Probably with new actors brought on board.
