I don't think we're getting Ben Reilly back. The Jackal's two henchman are Kaine and (most likely a clone of) Steve Rogers. I don't think there were anymore.....
 
And I think the boat may have passed on him; I'm not really sure what role he'd play in the Spidey-verse today. If they bring him back and do it right, then I'm all for it, I enjoyed him back in the day, but I'm just being cautious.
 
I really could care less if Ben was back or not. If it were up to me :rolleyes: I'd bring him back just to make the fans happy (I mean, his fans). Dan can make Ben Reilly work. I always imagined Spider-Man having a Spider-Family, like Batman's Bat-Family of characters. Spidey, Spider-Girl, Spider-Woman (a stretch), Anti-Venom, and Black Cat (hell, throw Venom in there, I dunno). And then there's Ben. But I still would rather have Dan bring Debra Whitman back.
 
You know, I think Peter is going to take up the mantle of Scarlet Spider since there's been all this talk about the end of Spider-Man. Just be forewarned die hard Reilly fans....
 
I have a question for Dan... if he wants to answer it...

Back in the day, there were claims that Avengers: The Initiative #7 would play an important role in Spider-Man's identity thingamajiggee...

I remember reading the book, and then waiting... OMIT came a few years later, and I saw no relevance to ATI #7 in regards to the "explanation" story...

Was there a change in ideas that make ATI #7 insignificant? If so, what was the original pitch? Or am I just not seeing it?

That's an interesting theory. The other possibly is that this Scarlet Spider (although, are we sure he's called that, considering the teaser shows that this guy doesn't look all that scarlet in color) is really Kaine. This teaser just has that character written all over him.
 
Ben Reilly is the ****! I love that guy. I actually started "collecting" and this whole comics business when he was Scarlet Spider and it was announced he was the original. So this is the Spidey I grew up on. I hated seeing him go out like a b****. But thats cool, that was probably just a clone of him anyway, haha. I'd love to see him back! But what to do with him after? A back-up strip/mini would be nice. Set him up in Chicago or something, although there isn't any city quite like NY.

I'd like to see a more espionage oriented Spider-Man actually. Working for whatever replaced SHIELD, or the Secret Avengers. I've always wanted to see a Spider-Man: Agent of SHIELD storyline.

Nope. In my mind, his parents were scientist...accountants...Wal-Mart employees, even.

Agents of SHIELD? Uh-Uh.
 
Yeah, I kind of agree. They should just have been scientists that helped SHIELD out once, and it got them killed. I don't like the idea that they were actual, James Bond-esque spies.

Man, that Newsarama article shows a new (or maybe the old) Nova, which is really exciting to me. But it has to be by Loeb and McGuinness. I hate them so very much.
 
....you Ben fans are going to be very disappointed. I'm surprised I'm the only one seeing it.:dry:
