Marvel Now - Part 2

What is happening to Luke Cage? Is he still an Avenger?
Not sure. Cage and family were last seen walking off talking about a new heroes for hire so its possible Marvel might bring out a new comic of that.

So far the best books of Marvel Now are Thor God of Thunder and Indestructible Hulk. Everything else has been "Meh" or completely awful.

Not at all. Fantastic Four was even better than IH. And Cap was a really good start as well.

Plus most of the books with the best writers - like Slott's Spider-Man and Hickman's Avengers - haven't even come out yet.

That's why I said "So far" and I didn't like Fantastic Four at all. FF was entertaining and I might give that a shot. Deadpool was also a bit entertaining and the Tony Moore art is always welcomed.

Thor and Hulk are just easily huge standouts for me to add them to my pull list. Plus I already read Spider-Man anyway.

Everyone on SHH is so critical. It's like perfection is expected :o

All New X-Men has been getting good reviews.

X-Men Legacy has not.

Those are my two cents.

At four bucks a pop these days, they'd better be good, right? Geez... :p

I agree that All New X-men has been good. I passed on Legacy, not being a Legion fan, and I guess it was a good choce.

I didn't like All New X-Men that much. I'm not a big X-Men fan so it would take a lot for me to get into it. What confused me was the continuity gap between Uncanny Avengers and All New X-Men. I mean...Cyclops WAS locked up, right?

You gotta read AvX Consequences to see how Scott got out. Good book too.

Yup, I enjoyed Consequences more than what came before (AvX) and after so far (ANXM). It was like an add-on to Gillen's Uncanny run, which I loved.

I don't recall them showing/saying how Emma got out though? I'm assuming Mags & co broke her out of jail, but I don't think it was covered explicitly in Consequences or ANXM. Did they include it elsewhere or did it just happen off panel?

Good point Squeek. Gosh, the American prints have so little and are so expensive. The UK CEs are £2.70 for 70 (sometimes 100) pages per 4 weeks (2 weeks for Spiderman). I find that expensive!

Even worse when they double ship. Yikes. :(

I finally caught up on all the books I care about in Marvel Now. Damn, they've got some good stuff going on.

Cap was awesome, Thor was awesome, Hulk was awesome.

I love the interconnected stories of Fantastic Four and FF, and both of those books were solid.

Iron Man was just okay, but I enjoyed All New X-Men more than I thought I would. I picked it up mostly for Immonen, but the writing was better than what I expected

I think the only book I've been completely disappointed in was Uncanny Avengers. And I'm not even sure why. I think it's because I don't care much about Rogue and Wanda, who are getting a lot of focus.

Just like with DC's reboot, I'll be picking up more Marvel titles than ever. Hopefully the quality will stay up, unlike DC.

Shame, I really liked Iron Man. The new suit is still growing on me though.

The first issue was way better than the second. That whole little tournament things just to get to one of the Extremis kits was stupid. And I'm not quite sure who that redheaded girl in the armor was supposed to be, even though they clearly wanted it to be a shocking reveal.

I thought the way he destroyed it was pretty clever. Haha, yeah I felt bad not knowing who that ginger lady was, but I got the feeling I was supposed to gasp and tweet about it.

My NOW purchases thus far have been Cap, Thor, Hulk, and UA. Remender, Aaron, and Waid - there's so little chance for disappointment there.

I'd really like to get All New if only for Immonen, but Bendis is a little bit of a deal killer for me to spend $4, and recent X-books have pretty much put a stop to me ****ing myself out for them. Even with the first issues looking promising from a writing standpoint, the back of my mind tells me that, sooner or later, it's going to turn disappointing.

Honestly, I liked Hulk a lot, but I don't quite see why everyone's going so crazy over the first issue.

All it really did was announce that they are discontinuing the most integral plot line in Hulk's history. I mean yeah, it's definitely run its course, but it's not they supplanted with much outside of Bruce Banner copying Peter Parker's current gig.

Which I'm sure will be good later on, but it's not like we got any of th's payoff to that in issue 1. At least with books like Cap, UA and FF we got more of a bevy of new situation and plot lines thrown at us.

I haven't got any 'Now' books yet, but I'm really looking forward to Hickman's Avengers and New Avengers. They look awesome.

Other than them I only really want to get Uncanny X-Force and Fearless Defenders.

I agree that All New X-men has been good. I passed on Legacy, not being a Legion fan, and I guess it was a good choce.

I actually LOVE Legion but the story has been very wordy without a whole lot of interesting to it. The second issue was better than the first but it all just feels like building so far. Legion took a more confident twist in issue 2 so hopefully that'll take the book in a better direction. Plus, the X-Men, and most importantly Chamber (:awesome:) are starting to get involved. I figure I'll give it another 2 or 3 issues. If it doesn't get much better by then I might drop it, but it has potentially to improve.

So these "new" X-Men... the younger versions... are they from a different timeline? Or the same ones from the past?

And if the latter, then do they say "when" they make this jump to the future? (in regards to the early issues of X-Men)?

Please advise...

:yay:
