Well that should make him easier to ignore then. The new premise to Secret Avengers (the whole team being mind controlled or something) sounds lame so I probably won't pick that up.

I do hope Coulson shows up in more books. No such thing as too much Coulson.

So it seems like this New Universe revival is actually happening. Now I'm gonna have to learn more about this stuff....

I'm unclear on some of Marvel's choices, like attempting a second go at new universe so recently after it failed under very top talent.

Then we have what they did with or didnt do with CrossGen and Ultraverse..not to mention Miracleman.

So Captain Universe in AVENGERS?? Ha! In some ways it's cool..but I think there are several undeserved members on this team..it may be too much.

I'm not sure why Hickman/Remender wouldnt want to use characters like old Spidey Cast offs (like Prowler) ,New Warriors, obscure Defenders, T-Bolts, or Initiative members over several new characters and really difficult characters like Captain Universe.

I was hoping to see some of Hickman's Secret Warriors characters on a roster too.

I can never guess why Marvel has doomed some characters and insists on using or beating others to death.

Nevertheless I do look forward to Hickman's run..it looks really epic.

I don't think it's Marvel pushing the New Universe again so much as Hickman just wanting to use it in his story.

I'm torn, as usual, on Hickman. I love the sense of optimism and epicness and earnestness he fills all of his stories with, but his big ideas have a tendency to meander. I'm looking at that "previously on Avengers" pic thinking, "Really? He's counting the f***ing beginning of the universe as a major 'recent' event for his run?" But he'll probably pull it off somehow, and I'll definitely be there for it. For all the drawbacks to his love of retcons and jamming history's square pegs into the round holes of his concepts, his work is usually worth checking out just to see how it all ultimately connects, if nothing else. Also, I'm hoping he does for the Avengers what he did with the FF and inserts some really tender, heart-warming interpersonal stuff amid the crazy epicness.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think Jim Shooter launched New Universe right when Marvel became a negative place under his watch and he ended up having his budget ripped out from under him.
