The amazing thread of Uniforms and Logos - Part 2

Saints "Color" Rush uniform for tonight is pretty sweet. This should be their full time road look. (Panthers will be the same one they wore last Thanksgiving)

and now the Red Wings....

The Red Wings NHL Centennial Classic™ uniforms pay homage to the beginnings of the franchise and the NHL’s 100th anniversary season. The color silver is used throughout the uniform as a nod to the League’s milestone season, most notably in a special version of the Winged Wheel front crest that incorporates silver tones into the normally white areas. Additionally, silver is found in the top stripe on both sleeves of the jersey, along with the trim in the uniform numbers.

The silver stripe found on both sleeves honors the 11 Stanley Cup® Championships in Red Wings franchise history. Each individual championship season is listed in the silver stripes, with five championship seasons honored on the right sleeve (1936, 1937, 1943, 1950, 1952) and six on the left sleeve (1954, 1955, 1997, 1998, 2002, 2008). The four red stripes on both sleeves are a tribute to the original Detroit Cougars, which prominently displayed stripes in their jersey designs. The pants will also feature a version of the letter “D,” similar to the design worn originally by the Cougars during the team’s 1926-27 season.

The new NHL team in Las Vegas has announced they'll be known as the Vegas Golden Knights and will have steel grey, gold, red, and black as colors.

Why the heck is their an Ice Hockey team in the middle of the desert? Shouldn't Hockey heartlands say in Canada get a team first?

that logo reminds me of Magneto.

Also "Golden Knights" is a stupid, generic, college-sounding name.

That's because it is. University of Central Florida is the Golden Knights

Uh oh, looks like Bill Foley may not have gotten the Army's permission/blessing on the "Golden Knights" name...

A National Hockey League expansion team that plans to call itself the Golden Knights has caught the attention of Army officials because of the parachute team that goes by the same name.

The Vegas Golden Knights, who begin play next year, announced their moniker Tuesday.

The U.S. Army Parachute Team, which is based at Fort Bragg, has used the Golden Knights name since the 1960s, said Alison Bettencourt, a spokeswoman for the Army Marketing and Research Group in Arlington, Virginia. The group serves as the Army-level headquarters of the Golden Knights.

The Army parachute demonstration teams perform at more than 100 events per year, according to the group's website. The teams have appeared in more than 16,000 shows in 50 states and 48 countries, the website says.

Bettencourt said the group learned of the NHL team's name through media accounts Wednesday.

"We're reviewing the situation and figuring out what the way ahead would be," she said.

I feel like that comes up every year around this time and it's always false. Although the Thunder probably have the worst logo/identity in the four major pro sports and could desperately use some kind of rebranding. The "generic basketball team" look they've been sporting since moving from Seattle is BAD.

We're like one step away from ads on uniforms

Under Armour Inks Deal to Place Logo on Front of MLB Jerseys

https://www.businessoffashion.com/a...ks-deal-to-place-logo-on-front-of-mlb-jerseys

The 10-year partnership, in which Under Armour will provide on-field uniforms and training gear for MLB players, will begin no later than the 2020 season, according to the league.

The agreement will put a logo on the front of MLB jerseys for the first time — on the right side of the chest, just above the team name...

When Majestic, which is owned by VF Corp., decided to end its partnership, the league looked for ways to make the deal more valuable, and one big change is moving the logo to the front of the jersey, according to MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred. That helped MLB more than double what it will earn annually from the license, he said.

Chiefs will just be wearing their standard red jerseys and red pants, with red socks this time, nothing special uni wise, which feels like a cop out really.
