These kinds of threads are always very interesting, sometimes more so than individual fan reviews.

Still have to wait two days to see it, but I'm dying to hear about some reactions.

everyone in my theater marked out for the "you're locked in here with me!" line from rorschach. Also tons of gasps and groans when awesome bones were popped out of flesh haha

When I see the film in about an hour I'm expecting lost of immaturity to Dr M's dong and the sex scene. Maybe some "oooo!'s" and "ahhhhh!'s" when the violence occurs. I've never been to a movie where some people would stand up and cheer(excpet for when TDK ended, me and a few other people clapped).

i'm a sophmore in high school and i didn't laugh one bit at Dr.M's dong all over the place, but the 20 somethings sitting next to me couldn't help but giggle like school girls every time it poped up (no pun intended), thats not to say i won't make the occasional Dr. manhattan dong joke.

Everyone were really quiet. Some giggling here and there. Nothing else.

A lot of people in my theater were fidgety...taping there feet, yawning, standing up and leaving and coming back, I think mostly because it was Midnight. Other than that everyone was pretty normal. No one in my theater laughed at Dr. Manhattan's dick, but they did laugh at Dan's ass when he was looking at the suit. They also laughed during Nite-Owl and Silk Spectre's sex scene because of the music and the flame. Also, a lot of people cheered and clapped when Rorschach screamed "You're all locked up in here with me!"

pretty much the same in my show--some stupid guys laughed when The Comedian started punching and kicking the Silk Spectre.. but, other than that, pretty normal reactions expected in the expected moments :hehe:

Basically what I went through. Hopefully there will be a better crowd when I see it again tonight. Last night, there weren't too many people at the theatre.

The people in my theater were yelling, "Where is the *****ing Squid?!!!"

^ Great sig, waits is the man

Everyone was quiet. Paying great attention. Loud laughter at appropriate points.

'Rorscach dropped him down an elevator shaft' got a big laugh at our showing, you could tell from that the audience were really starting to get into him.
Also, when he began explaining to DrLong why he didn't like him teh audience laughed when he said 'you're fat', there was enough of a pause to make the uninitiated think this was going to be his full answer to that question.
There were a few walk outs during ours, earliest was two scuzzy looking criminal types early on, during the funeral scene I think. Another two guys left not that long from the end, maybe 5-10mins from the end, I am more puzzled by that one, if you've made the haul that far why not go the whole hog?
Also, laughter when Archie's flamethrower climaxed, they were laughing with not at, the sex scene in Archie didn't get any derisitory laughter iirc.

I was at the first daytime showing, there was no talking or mocking during the film, I imagine because folk who make the effort to go to the first showing are there for the movie, not to make themselves the movie. I was half expecting some blue penis commenst or laughter in that direction, glad there wasn't, most of the guys in the audience were probably intimidated by it and kept their traps shut about it being there at all.

Lots of laughs for the Captain Carnage joke, and Dan's impotence. Rorschach prison scenes drew big applauses.

Lot of gasps when the Comedian tries to rape Sally and when he shoots the pregnant Vietnamese woman. I think after that happened the GA knew what they were getting themselves into.

I saw a 4 o clock showing today, so it wasn't too crowded. Most of the people in the audience were probably in their 20s, as I am. There was one family with 2 girls, both around 10 years old, and another kid who looked about 13 or 14 with his brother I'm assuming. There was also an elderly couple. The kids actually were quiet the whole time. I heard one of the girls say "gross!" the first time Doc's wang showed up. And the old folks left about an hour into the movie.

One guy sitting near me knew a lot of Rorschach's lines; he also pumped his fists numerous times during the prison scene.

Quiet thank god. We got into a good showing, with mostly college students, most of whom took the material seriously. No giggles over the blue cock, which was a relief. Some groans over the excessive violence at times though and of course, Rorschach's line about "you're locked in here with me", got a big laugh

There was lots of chatter every time Dr. Manhattan's Hiroshima was on screen, and there was laughter whenever someone's ass was on the screen. However, overall the movie seemed to get the reactions that the filmmakers were looking for-- people cheered during action scenes, laughed at the humor, and were mostly quiet during solemn scenes. Surprisingly though, there was no applause when the movie started rolling, and there was relatively little applause at the end (I was the first to clap, but everyone was already getting up when I started). I think the audience liked it, but they weren't quite as enthusiastic as when I saw The Dark Knight or Iron Man in terms of applause.

A good audience reaction.

Points that got a lot of laughter:

-The first few times Dr. Manhattan let his warhead hang out.
-When multiple hands were feeling Laurie.
-When Dan and Laurie meet and 99 Laughballoons starts playing.
-When Dan and Laurie recount the "Captain Carnage" incident. "He dropped him down an elevator shaft.
-When Veidt is asked for some new ideas for a villain toy line he looks at the oil executives and says "I have some ideas."
-When Rorschach said "You're fat" to the psychologist.
-When Rorschach kills the midget and Dan and Laurie wait impaitently.
-When Dan is impotent with Laurie.
-When Dan and Laurie have sex they laugh WITH the movie.

Moments that got loud reactions:

-When Dr. Manhattan obliterates that dude in his flashback.
-When the assassin shoots through Veidt's assistant's leg (she gets off better in this than the book)
-When Rorschach kills the pedophile got a lot of gasps and shocks.
-When Rorschach burns the prisoner it got a lot of gasps and then cheers when he said "You're locked in hear with me!"
-When Rorschach gets the fat guy's hands cut off got a mixture of laughs and cringes.

The ending had surprisingly little reaction, but maybe because there is not a whole lot to cheer about during the ending.

My theater had a good reaction. Cheers for "you're locked in here with me", obviously. Laughter at all of the funny parts, like Captain Carnage. People clapped at the end, too.

There was some uneasy snickering during the movie but overall some people were confused but the people who were into it kept their mouths shut.

Yeah, pretty much. and the people laughed at some of the funny stuff.

i love hearing the reactions of crowds. I'm going to see the movie tomorrow to report!

Yeah, that entire scene with the hot fat got the audience excited. The alleyway fight scene definitely opened some eyes.

Yep. I'd say, since the midnight show was 80% full in a 500 capacity theater, every time Jon's dong showed up in any shot, you'd hear some giggling.

Yeah, I think in some of these midnight shows, most people are already a little tired, but it's a big pet peeve of mine during movies like these where you have that one guy that keeps making those loong, hard, exhales while watching as if he's getting bored.

and it's weird how any time a man shows his bare ass, everyone laughs, but no one ever laughs at a woman's bare ass/tatas.

Yeah, I was surprised. The elevator shaft line got a good laugh and so did the Dr. Long comment. The Archie flamethrower "climax" was one of the biggest laughs during the show.

Everyone loves a good fist pump.

People were really tense when the movie started because there was a long pause before the bright yellow shot approached leading up to The Comedian's reveal, so, people were excited, but they weren't getting exceedingly rowdy. The opening fight scene really got everyone pumped up, but yeah, the end of the movie received applause, but not as much as TDK.

Yep, those all were received pretty well. Of course, Dan's line, "Just give me a couple of minutes". Yeah, the Veidt assassination attempt scene was pretty nicely done. Good reaction.

No kids! Thank god, but there weren't too many people in the theater. 40-50/150 seater.

The violent parts got some oooohs! No wang laughs.
I laughed during the sex scene so I couldn't tell if anyone else did.
At the end, no one spoke or clapped. People just walked out.

cheers at "youre locked in here with me" laughs when he kills big figure and gasps when he kills Roche

I liked the deep silence in the audience before, during, and after the Jon/Rorschach scene at Karnak. It showed that the scene really worked and it's one of the things that the movie did better than the book.
