That review from fanthefire is so hillariously obvious. Just the name alone tells you the type of contrarian reviewer he is. I just chuckle.

The FantheFire reviewer liked Green Lantern. Nuff said.

..........I liked Green Lantern....but I like alot of movies most people don't.

I really don't like too many Critics. I still say if you want to see a movie go see it don't decide based on a "critic's" viewing.
Personally I go by what most FANS say about the film over any critic, and even THEN it doesn't sway me from going to a film

As for the fantheflames (*snerk*) review: I don't object to people not liking the movie, obviously. There are just going to be folks for whom it doesn't work.

But the guy deserves heaps of scorn for the baiting quality of that review. Good lord, the whole "fanboys will only SAY they like it" thing? It doesn't get much more childish than that. I have a particular problem with people whose arguments consist of "I didn't like it and nobody else is allowed to have liked it either".

But apparently the reviewers for Variety and The Hollywood Reporter are fanboys who are just saying they liked it in order to maintain their fanboy cred! Who knew?

Guys, come on. He's allowed not to like it. Look, Green Lantern is not a good movie in the slightest, but I enjoy watching it. There's just some moments in that film that just click for me...and that's just the nature of film criticism.

Some things work for a particular person. That same thing might not work for another. Who's right?

Green Lantern is like a Tootsie Pop with a green apple coating. There's good stuff if you dig deep down enough, but you can't bring your self to get through the rotten outer shell.

I had the same reaction to it, as I did to Wrath of the Titans. There's a really good movie somewhere in Wrath of the Titans, mired in sloppy execution and horrible editing. They had a beginning and an ending, and decided to screw the middle part, just get to the interesting bits.

Opinion is one thing, but a critic has to admire film-making first and foremost. Green Lantern is a horrible film, from a film maker point of view. It's poor, it's sloppy, the director was asleep at the wheel, the producers didn't care, the actors clearly didn't care, and your left with a CGI nightmare that makes the Phantom Menace look brilliant by comparison.

I hate the movie, No Country for Old Men, but I admire the film making, even if I hate the story.

I didn't realize how many people didn't like Thor.

Ebert hated it, fanthefire hated it...hell, just the other day the singer in my band told me her boyfriend thought it was the worst thing he'd ever seen.

Liking Green Lantern is one thing, but he also had a rather positive review and score for Iron Man 2, the butt monkey of Marvel Studio's films. So his scathing review for The Avengers is baffling, to say the least.

I can accept the fact that movies in general can have a couple or several bad reviews, people have different tastes in movies and that's understandable. But ****ting on a movie just because you want attention is just plain stupid.
