Because the movie side is running out of big heroes to use and at some point they're going to want Daredevil, Iron Fist, The Royal Family, Ghost Rider, The Runaways etc.

Personally, I think the events at the end of GotG had more of an influence, for Thanos to become more proactive in attaining the stones.

For what it's worth, after watching Thor: Ragnarok I totally understand Marvel wanting to hold off on showing the IW trailer.

It could very well be that...I have to admit, that's a strong & more plausible speculation...however, I just think, they will find or create an opportunity, to show the power of the gems; and in this case, the Time stone....which is one of the reason why I think they would use it, to replay moments in time, seeking answers to something, that may turn the tide against Thanos.

Then it begs the question of if Cate Blanchett's Hela will be back for Infinity War? I mean considering that they completely changed her backstory and made her Odin's daughter making her Thor and Loki's sister it would make sense for her to show up especially given the Thanos connection to Death and if Cate Blanchett is Death she is the Goddess of Death after all

Another villain who should be in Infinity War should be Chiwetel Ejiofor's Mordo especially if Mordo wants to rid the world of sorcerers and if Strange is out there as a sorcerer working with the many heroes in Infinity War it would make sense for him to show up if anything as an ally for or to Thanos

I never got the feeling that he would appear. I just think he is a solo villain and probably wouldn't want to take Strange out based on Thanos.

They likely wanted to wait until Ragnarok is out before announcing him. Though with the gem and time travel it probably wouldn't have spoiled much.

With Star Wars is still my pick. I expect another BP trailer too, the last one was decent but didn't get me out of my chair like previous MCU trailers.
