If Coulson turns out to be Mar-vell, I may have to make the crazy-eyed lady gif my signature.

Huh, not quite following the latest bit o' speculation. Something or other about Coulson being Mahr Vehl
(which would be funny, cause I made an offhand joke about how cool that would be to a buddy of mine who loves that actor and wishes he had a bigger role)
ID of the invading force?
I'm trying to go back through some pages, but my device is not cooperating consistently and the base computers have these forums blocked.
Any kind soul PM me if I missed anything juicy?
Grassy-@$$.

I'm saying to listen to him because hes legit too.:word:

Shame on yous, you know it's easier for people to make up and believe completely unfounded theories because it fits what they want to see rather than listen to people in the know.

Hemsworth is on set rehearsing so I'm thrilled that the pissing competition is still going on in this thread and distracting me from any potential news that might be posted.

No it was me. Devin's article was published May 2011. Mine was May 2010: [BLACKOUT]http://bit.ly/q7jUjY[/BLACKOUT]
I'm sorry, but the mention of Kevin Pennington in that article does not do anything to instill confidence in these sources.

The truth is, and I'm willing to bet on this, that nobody here knows anything. Internet rumors and listening to "sources" have proven one thing in the past: THEY ARE NOT TO BE TRUSTED.

I guess I'm in the minority. I just want this to be one big, badass Skrull invasion. I really don't want all if this other speculation to be true. Plus, I've never been that big of a Mar-Vel fan. Seems like I'm the only one, though.

All of the speculation is fun, though.

Heh. Empire Mag, Total Film, Coming Soon and ScreenRant have all mentioned that dude in their articles. Guess they can't be trusted either, right :awesome:

But, yeah, I do believe the same as you regarding unnamed insider sources. I've been burned in the past with those

Cool news - Hopefully we get some shots of Scarlett and Hemsworth on the sets.

Any shots of Kevin Pennington on set with Scarlett and Hemsworth?

LMAO! :applaud

I'm pretty sure Poni's "sources" had Pennington up for at least two dozen roles in The Avengers. He must have sucked ass because it seems he got none of them. I'll believe these things when we hear from someone official, not a couple of dudes on a forum claiming to have inside info just so they can lord it over everyone else with their "wait and see" attitude. It's easy to be SO vague that you can later say, "Oh look, I was right all along". :whatever:

That's actually true. However, no one's really forcing you to believe this stuff, so waiting for something official is probably best for you. :cwink: We all have somewhat reputations in this "entertainment news" industry, so why lie? But again, you can never go wrong with "official" news, so that works best:word:

Actually that source was Kevin himself (who also said the same thing to the guys at ScreenRant). I have no problem saying that now because I don't believe him any more (haven't for awhile). And I wish I could be more specific about this stuff publicly. I have been with plenty of other Avengers related stuff recently. I also have no problem speaking in detail about this or other films in private to people on this messageboard I've known for awhile and that I trust. Thing is, I don't want some random site or blog to quote me for a scoop that I'm not at liberty to divulge publicly. If I was, I'd post it on my site. Not trying to twist anyone's arm, and I completely understand those who are very hesitant to believe anything they read online. That's actually the best mentality to have nowadays.

I don't see "The Avengers fighting a vague alien threat that we won't show you" working out too well as a marketing strategy. This isn't Super 8 or Cloverfeild.

I wasn't saying that, I should've been more clear. I just meant for now. I'm sure as the film draws closer we'll know more about the villians.

Ed Zachery. the only reason to lie about this stuff is to get hits (revenue) so discussing it first and foremost on a messageboard is counterproductive. I just like actually discussing this stuff with people who give a damn about it since most if not all of my friends could care less about comics films lol

Seriously, Coulson of Mar-Vell would make me hoot louder than anything else in this movie and I know I'm not the only fan to think that way. I would so freakin' annoyed if that rumour about
Son of Coul dying
came true, purely because I think when you have a character, with no comic origin, who is beloved by so many audience members, having a secret reveal where we find out he's greater than all that, and has been all along, that's a more awesome twist or turn than any "I was evil all along!" or other twist could ever be. It would be a totally missed oppurtunity.

You're definitely not the only fan thinking that way.

Though, with respect to Whiskey Tango (many pages ago): it's not that I would mind if Coulson turned out to be "nothing but" a human guy who is quiet but very efficient and kick-ass in a quiet way. I think that would be cool, too. And, after all -- the perception of him as being that way is what has gotten so many fans to love him, after all.

But part of me also just thinks it would be awesome if this quiet background character we've had through most of the movies suddenly turns out to be something bigger and unexpected.

Wolvie: given that the director is Whedon, I think a lot of us have been worried about what's in your spoiler tag, there. And unfortunately...

...Coulson is the candidate who makes the most sense. There's no way Marvel would let Whedon kill off a named char from the comics. And we don't really have anyone else who Whedon could kill who means anything to moviegoers.

However, what I've also been thinking is this:

I'm hoping that because Whedon isn't working with his own creations, but with Marvel's, that they simply won't let him pull his usual "dramatic death" schtick. That, plus the fact that because it's Whedon, everyone expects it now, and I'd rather be surprised by his NOT doing it, since I sure won't be "surprised" if he does.

... So what if he pulled a fake-out? What if the rumors about Coulson's "death" actually wound up being related to a scene or sequence in the movie where Coulson appears to die, only for that to be the way he is revealed as more than human? Getting hit in a way that a human couldn't survive, but a disguised alien could, would be an obvious way for his cover to be blown.

And Whedon could still get to play with the "omg you killed Coulson!" thing, if there is a gap in time between the apparent death and his return as his "true self".

... I know. Going WAY out on a limb, there.

lmao Yeah, that's true too.

EDIT: But still, I can't understand why someone would be so skeptic of info that they're hearing from someone else whose proven credible. But I suppose, it's different for those who don't know.
