if the levaithan is foom/migard serpent... i think that means we're less likely to see Skrulls and Thanos, and more likely that the "aliens" are all Asgardian (trolls, elves, etc...)

If it's Foom then Loki could still be in league with the Skrulls and Thanos, because Foom is an alien from another planet not an Asgardian creature.

Since snakes are a pretty strong imagery for Loki I'm going to have to go with a giant snake. Of course if that's the case I'll be thinking a lot of Dragon Wars, which featured an evil immature dragon that was basically a snake. The story was pretty much crap but the snake dragon rampage was pretty awesomesauce!

And not in a good way. This might as well be a comic book overdose.

Well............ it is the Avengers it should be an overdose

I would be OK if it was just called the Leviathen, doesn't have to be Foom per say.

I just want some valid explanation, and I want it to be very hard to destroy.

Why am I getting Godzilla vibes here? I believe the Big G does predate Fing Fang Foom too. :p

REALLY? OMG I NEVER KNEW... *sarcasm*

they're not going to put a giant talking green dragon from outer space in an Avengers movie... let alone the very first one. It's far more believable that they'd just combine the migard serpent and foom together (it eliminates his cheesy name, and still makes him an alien). there's never going to be a movie devoted to the Foom-er, so we don't need to know he's part of a race of alien dragons... at all.

and even if they had all these cosmic (non asgardian) aliens... there's no way they'd even explain foom.. you'd just see this creature wreaking havoc, and probably getting destroyed ...

Sure

It should be interesting to see on how most of the Earth Based Avengers react and first approach dealing with cosmic beings/aliens/monsters in this film given that this will most likely be their first experience on encountering such individuals.

The Hulk and Thor are the only ones who have had experience on encountering either monsters or outer worldly beings/creatures.

I just don't think Fin Fang Foom would fit the feel of that movie if their goal is more espionage based. I think it would make it something else, entirely. Not to say FFF can't work in an Iron Man movie, just not one where they're emphasizing espionage.

I see where you're coming from, but I think that even if a lot of the film is espionage thriller there is still need for a major final battle. Having FFF come out of the blue for a major battle could be awesome.

If it is FFF then the movie will never have that name spoken in the film. MARVEL STUDIOS is careful and intelligent enough to eliminate cheesy sounding names. What you will see is a large reptilian dragon-like creature with other humanoid reptilian aliens.

We will know it's FFF and that will be cool for us; the GA will see a spectacular VFX alien creature that kicks @$$!!!

So.... We have Loki team-up with Thanos, the Skrulls and Fin Fang Foom.... What's next? The Beyonder?

Sure, but do we know for a fact that we're getting these guys in The Avengers? Let's not jump to assumptions so soon, don't want to get anyone's hopes up.

Yeah, I'm not jumping to *any* of those conclusions. In fact, I'd be willing to bet that the Skrulls and Fin Fang Foom aren't in it at all (Foom, possibly as a hybrid with the Midgard Serpent), and Thanos is not "teaming up" with Loki, but simply showing up in a cameo to make some shady deals in the outer cosmos with him to offer some powerful henchmen in return for a nifty one-size-fits-all gold glove from Odin's treasury.

That would be cool

I just don't want them to overdue Cap giving the Avenger direct orders, because some things should happen naturally since each of the Avengers are fairly experienced themselves.

I don't want it to seem like they can't do anything effective without being "force fed" what to do.
I wouldn't think that they're being force-fed, but rather that these guys aren't taking it down as efficiently because they're doing everything their own way. Hulk's a loner, you saw how Thor acted on Jotunheim with teammates(before his change), and Stark's a "one-man army". With Cap's coordination and strategy, they could use their abilities in unison to make more of an impact on the threat.

That seems very plausible, we'll see.

I don't know if it has been already posted, but there will be a special 6 minutes preview of "The Avengers" this weekend at Luca Convention
http://avengersuniverse.blogspot.com/2011/10/anteprima-di-avengers-lucca-comics-2011.html
"Lucca Comics & Games" is the most important Italian exhibition dedicated to the world of comics. The event will take place from Friday, October 28 until Tuesday, November 1 & will also have a never-before-seen 6-minute footage of "Marvel's The Avengers"!

Among the official guests of the convention is a famous artist, illustrator & designer Adi Granov. It will be possible to meet him at the Loggia Panini Praetorian booth at 15:30 on Sunday.

I'm curious to see how much tension stems from the fact that Loki is (one of) the big bad(s)? Given that Thor has a personal stake in this, will that cause tension to rise between him and the rest of the team.

After all even though his brother tried t kill him at the end of the Thos movie he was still quite broken up over Loki's "demise"

Pretty sure either Iron Man or Hawkeye will bring it up. They are asses :)
