I don't understand why some people hail Norton as the definitive Bruce Banner. I thought he was fine in TIH but nothing about his performance really stuck out to me that made me think he was THE perfect choice for the role. Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, and RDJ all proved themselves in their respective movies but to be perfectly honest, I don't think Norton brought anything to it that someone else couldn't have done just as well.

^^This. Norton's performance was good but hardly definitive, like the leads of the other three Marvel films. There were a couple of scenes in which I thought Norton's performance was lacking (with Betty at the motel, and aboard the helicopter).

Most of Norton's performance was sadly edited out. And I'm not being coy about that either, there are some truly great scenes with Norton's Banner in the deleted scenes of TIH that made me completely rethink the character. TIH has so much more going for it than what's initially on the surface.

I'm not saying that no one else couldn't play him, I'm sure Ruffalo will do fine. But I really enjoyed Norton and I think Marvel messed up by letting him go. The guy isn't exactly a box office nightmare, he'll definitely pull in a crowd.

Didnt TIH come pretty close in box office to The Ang Lee version?

TIH did a lilttle better than Ang's Hulk.

I agree on that Norton wasn't perfect or anything, in my case I just wanted to see the Avengers assembling just the way it was intended and to keep the continuity of the MCU. When I was watching TIH I was thinking "cool, Norton and Downey Jr together". But that's all. I like Ruffalol, and I'm sure he's gonna be a great Banner.

Tbh, I thought Norton did a fantastic job. However, I think Ruffalo will do great as well.

I agree. Norton was awesome. Though I will give Ruffalo a chance and besides he's not that bad of an actor.

Not going to lie, I liked Eric Bana in the role.

I'm with you and Juicy. I enjoyed Norton, and thought his Banner was much better than Bana's, but he wasn't so amazing that he can't be replaced.

Only problem with replacing him for me was that its kinda hard to watch tih now knowing he wont be in the avengers. I know ruffalo is gonna rock though.

Can blame Fiege and Arad for that mess. They wanted to keep a straight vanilla action flick. I still can't believe they didn't like that scene with Norton ready to shoot himself. There was such depth to it.

That is what is somewhat strange about Ruffalo as Banner should Marvel attempt to unspool another Hulk solo film.

What I loved about that scene is that it showed not only that Banner hated the Hulk, but that the Hulk hated Banner. That would have been hands down the best scene in the movie if they had left it in. Friggin' morons.

I also liked the conversation between Banner and Samson at Betty's house. They cut a lot of good stuff out of that movie.

I thought Eric Bana was a great banner... he's such a critically underused excellent actor

I think Eric Bana is a great actor, and even thought his acting was very good in Hulk, somehow I couldn't see him as Banner. Maybe it was the whole movie around him, but there was something missing from the character.
To be honest, I didn't think the movie was THAT bad, is just that it isn't very rewatchable.

And funny enough, due to the actions of a certain producer, we didn't even know that the person Betty was dating was actually Samson! They completely left his name out for no good reason. I can't for the life of me understand why.

In the future i hope there is a way to have the deleted scenes played into the movies

People.

As a witness of what they showed at NYCC, and there was a LOT of Banner. Let me assure you, he will be a fine Bruce Banner.

And my input on the other 2 actors. Eric Bana was cool but not all that memorable in my opinion. He was good in the role but he didn't stand out in a way that I'd remember him 10 years from now. It's almost been 10 years, and I've almost completely forgotten about that movie. Edward Norton was a step up and he was great but again, he didn't do anything particularly memorable to the point that it felt like he embodied the role like other actors did with their characters.

Seeing how he was on the set, I'm sure he was a dedicated mofo but he wasn't THE BRUCE BANNER.

I thought that Bana's Banner had a darkness to him that fit the Hulk to a tee. There was something about that guy that was always on the verge, skating on the edge of madness. He knew it, too, and embraced it, which made him seem a lot more dangerous than Norton's Banner.

I just have to break this up to comment on how hilarious this picture is.

Clark Gregg seems like the exact type of actor who would mesh well with Whedon's style, so I'm not surprised that the two of them have gelled so well.

LOL, poor Evans always seems to be in the dorkiest of poses when people snap photos of him. :funny:
