Batman was MIA in the comics between Returns and Forever.

Also, Bruce was "dead" after TDK hype...

I don't know, it's different for Batman. He's ALWAYS been popular. Thor's just now getting big among the general public.

Not sure where to start. There's definitely a large group here of continued disappointments and it seems that only recently there's been improvements to the genre.

I must go deeper.....

I think its safe to say that '07 was probably the worst year for Marvel adaptations, with '05 coming in second.

Something to change the beat, that I cooked up here at work. I was just missing that badass Hawkeye shot from the trailer to complete it.

Lookin' back, its still that they've adapted so many of the characters.

How is Avengers 3 going to be made BEFORE Avengers 2?

That still from Maguire (the one from 2004) is one of the reasons I hated every time I saw the character crying or... doing that.

2006 only had one adaptation & its not the terrible film the fan community makes it out to be.

To the GA, X-Men: The Last Stand is a solid action flick. Elektra, Ghost Rider, Fantastic Four, Rise of The Silver Surfer = TERRIBLE movies. They didn't work for neither the fans or the GA. Spider Man 3 whilst a step down from SM2 wasn't terrible but definitely bloated & a missed opportunity. It still made alotta money though.

Perhaps '05 was worse than '07 because not only were both the Marvel films bad, but they made very little money when compared to WB's [excellent] Batman Begins. Then again, a year where all three Marvel films are critically disappointing... yeah, 2007 takes the cake.

Not sure it actually reflects the qualities of the movies but I actually enjoyed Spider-Man 3 less than Ghost Rider and FF2. Probably because I had no expectations at all for the latter two and pretty high ones for SM3 (despite that I find Venom boring). It might very well be different if I watch them all again though but the only one I've seen twice this far is SM3 and it was as bad as the first time, if not worse (which is bad for a movie where you initially were disappointed due to expectations).

I have no interest in watching Electra.

Basically everything from Blade Trinity to FF:ROTS was pure awful. Thank god for Ironman.

While I agree that we're now in sort of a Golden Age of comic-book movies, I don't agree that everything before 2008 was bad. The first Blade, X-Men, and Spider-Man movies were all pretty good, and X2 was great. The Director's Cut (not the theatrical version) of Daredevil was decent. But aside from those, yeah, things really started to improve once Iron Man came along.

All of those statements are, of course, merely my own personal opinion. YMMV.

No. I didn't mean all the movies before 2008. I meant all the movies in between Spider-Man 2 and Ironman. 4 out of those 7 movies are Fox movies. First Class is the first good movie they've made since X2.

I'm going to sort of miss the Sam Raimi styled Spider-man movies. I mean Spider-man 3 was mediocre at best, but I don't think it was bad enough to have ruined that continuity like Batman and Robin ruined the Burton/Schumacher continuity.

spider-man 4 would've been bad enough to ruin the continuity.

From the sounds of how SM4 was shaping up, it's a good thing Raimi walked.

And is it just me, or does anyone else ****ing love that shot of Tobey in SM1 in the 2002 column? It's such a great moment when everything else is chaos and Peter is the only one composed and focused.

You know, my wish was for Venom to have been the main villain for Spider-man 4, but that was slightly ruined by the fact they gave my favorite Spidey villain such small screentime and then unsatifyingly killed him off. They should have let Raimi stick to his plan of using Sandman and Vulture and left Venom for the fourth movie, perhaps just introducing him at the end of 3, but that's all water under the bridge. Hopefully this new continuity will get it right and do Venom justice.

The first Spidey 2 movies are iconic, period.

It's certainly better than this one...
