I for one could not be more excited for Amazing Spider-Man, I feel like that film can do no wrong at the moment. It's also the clear underdog for next summer which makes me root for it all the more. Avengers has so much potential and I really do feel like Marvel can deliver especially seeing as how this is what they've been working up towards since '08. Time to see if all that build up will pay off. And Ghost Rider? "Oh it's awesome!" :woot:

The film I'm most excited for is The Avengers, with Ghost Rider:SOV in 2nd place and Amazing Spider-Man in 3rd place.

I'm sure TDKR is going to be a great film, but it just doesn't look "comic booky" enough for me to get excited for.

I think that's what's so crazy about Nolan's Batman-verse in general. It's the least comic booky of all the CBM's out there, but I guess that's why they're so critically acclaimed and well received by the GA.

I have been reading a lot of the new 52 Batman comics lately, and I have to say, even the comics don't feel comic booky. But it's like I said in that post, Batman is a very different character in a very different universe and the Marvel characters are quite often the polar opposite, and I like seeing the distinction between the two. They work well in their own elements.

Villains like Killer Croc, Mister Freeze, and Poison Ivy definately made Batman seem far more comic book in the comics & animation that he does in Nolan's films.

I'm not saying Nolan's films not being "comic booky" is a bad thing, I'm just saying that it's not what gets me excited.

Very true. That's why I wonder about TDKR and the potential of Ra's al Ghul coming back. That would mean the film would abandon the realism of the last two in favor of throwing the mystical side of Batman's world in to the mix. And Bane is definitely one of those villains that I think has more of a comic book feel to him, if nothing else just for the sheer size of the guy after he venom's up, but I think they were going for an aerosol version of it in this film. I seriously wonder if he's going to bulk up like crazy or if it's going to be more of a stamina thing.

Oddly enough, I think TDKR has the potential to be the most comic booky out of all 3. I guess it's hard to say, but it definitely has a lot of the elements of a more comic book driven narrative. But I won't sit here and pretend to get inside Nolan's brain. I'm pretty sure it's impossible.

Yeah I was pretty glad to hear that Bane was going to be the villain in TDKR, I'd rather see him bulk up when using venom rather than it just increasing his stamina.

I know Nolan hate's CGI so his "venom induced" muscles are either going to be done with practical effects or he's going to remain the same size throughout the film (I hope it's the former).

2011 was the best year for comicbook films in my opinion. marvel films at least. :cwink:

since it's a slow news day i guess this is something. the mma fighter don frye was on insidemma the other day and said he did some stunt work for the avengers last week or a few weeks back.

Judging from Hathaway's Catwoman costume (which has a very Halloween outfit feel to it), I agree that TDKR seems quite comic booky. Nolan has been avoiding most of the campy elements of Batman, and maybe in his third and final Batman movie he will finally embrace some of them.

I'm pretty sure Michael Caine used inception to plant the idea to cast himself in all of Nolan's films. :o

:oldrazz:

@Gamma, this might surprise you, but I actually used inception to put that joke in your head.

Yes. Back to the Avengers. So nothing yet, eh? No news. Nothing. hmph.

I don't think Nolan would have a problem having Bane's venom induced muscles being mostly CGI mixed in with some practical work. Two-Face was done the same way, wasn't he?

But yeah, can't wait for The Avengers.

I hope he doesn't, but we'll find out pretty soon.

well maybe CGI muscular bane won't look that bad maybe they can use a trick like how they did skinny steve but instead of skinny they make Bane Muscular
