I don't do Facebook.

Oh c'mon ... where else can you get a lifetime supply of pictures of people making kissy faces while throwin' up a sign for the scissor gang mafia?

The narcissism and shameless self-promotion on it is seriously getting worse by the day .... and if I read one more post where somebody says something like, "Hey Monday, I'm going to defeat you" I'm gonna go postal .... or better yet quotes on how to live life by people who clearly don't have their own in-check.

Heh.
Song Lyric Statusi make me go berserk for some reason.
(Also: Duck Face pics.)
I actually use FB as a repository for news links and comic and movie posts and pics.

There are people who use Facebook properly, aka me. At least it's not Twitter

People are complaining about duckface pictures? What is this, 2007? Did you hear they're making an Iron Man movie?

I'm glad I have a facebook. Made one last year before college started and it helped a lot socially. I think making one in high school would've helped a bit as well. It's also great for networking, especially when it comes to the entertainment industry. People are so quick to write off the pro's in favor of con's. And if this is about the upcoming trailer I'm super juiced.

My god, how people managed socially before Facebook, I'll never know.

It's tough when you're not very outgoing. Using a not-as-confrontational means is a good way to build up to more personal encounters with people who are mere acquaintances without overstepping boundaries. People say it takes us backward, but it brought me a helluva lot forward so I don't buy it.

Anyway:
Remember when I was talking about people basing snooty opinions on "warped reality?" This is a perfect representation of that-
I just watched BB and TDK together and judging from what we know about TDKR it almost feels like TDK is the odd man out. Like BB and TDKR are one large story and TDK was just forced in there to take up a spot. Not that its a bad movie IMO TDK is better than BB. But thats neither here nor there.
Its almost like BB and TDKR is the story Nolan wanted to tell and then the studio told him hey, we gotta have a Joker movie. So Nolan made one for the studio...
Anyone else get this feeling?

Facebook is what it is. I'm annoyed by it and ignore it more often than not but when I need it it's invaluable.

:wow:..... *hides Twitter handle* :o

But seriously, I used to use Facebook, but I never kept up with it and every time I did log on it felt like it always gave me another reason not to use it. I just think it's a nuisance I don't need.

Twitter I find fun because I'm anonymously saying very stupid things or I follow people who I find interesting or the odd company whose products I like (mostly games companies and some game designers).

I coulda swore you were gonna follow that up with "then I took an arrow to the knee"

*in best comedy Schwarzenegger accent* Let me guess..... someone stole your sweet roll?

I'm not sure what's worse. The internet meme or the NPC's saying it every five seconds or so.

edit: You know what else is annoying? Seeing that meme run into the ground then mistakenly hitting Aela and making her hostile and witnessing her killing your weak ass Werewolf with.... you guessed it. An arrow to the knee.

I hear that. I'd get a lawyer to look anything I'd sign like that. If they don't allow you to take that contract WITH you to have it looked at then I'd completely skip that company.
Thinking about it now, those Contracts Marvel used to use were standard Freelance Contracts.....Glad there are artists unions these days lol

The industry was a lot different back then. The books themselves didn't make huge bucks, and the Movie Studios were not exactly lining up to pay big bucks for adaptations either. 'Work For Hire' was the standard of that day, as that's all the publishers could realisticly afford and the writers & artists all knew that going in. Kirby himself ran his company doing the same thing.

The trade off was that the talent would get paid even if the book tanked (A creator owned project back then was published at the creators own financial risk, that's why Siegel & Shuster, who created Superman outside of any publisher, sold the rights to see him in print). As for Gerber's beef with Howard the Duck, well it could be argued that another of his creations for Marvel bombed to their expense (Omega the Unknown). He got paid for both regardless, and didn't launch a suit for ownership of the latter.

Anyways, the industry now comes with the all the extras beyond the printed page (movies, merchandising etc) so a half decent agent/lawyer can wrangle a much better deal for the talent. The mistake I think some fans make in condemning the publishers for past 'sins' is that they don't acknowledge how different things were then and judge it based on how its run today, and how lucrative it can be today. Sure, it wouldn't hurt the publishers to help the old creators out but they aint legally obliged to at all.

from what i hear, the trailer is supposed to release next week.....

^^ Indeed.

Good to hear; especially since that's the one thing that I've been looking forward to for quite some time. Heck, is it sad to say that I was looking forward towards the release of the new trailer more than I was for Christmas?lol
