In their minds tdk has the crown in terms of CBM achievement. At least in terms of BO gross THE AVENGERS has a chance, albeit a slim one, of taking that. Also by the very nature of its existance (an amalgamation of 4 CBM franchises into one mega-franchise) it effortlessly overshadows nolan's so called accomplishments. If it fails critically/financially then in their minds this will not be the case. Also there is plain old MARVEL vs DC rivalry.

i wouldnt say it effortlessly overshadows anything...the avengers has its hype and its well deserved but when i went to go see MI4 at midnight..some people only went for the prologue and then got a refund as soon as it finished...TDKR is the most anticipated film...not saying it will be the better film but its clearly not being overshadowed

Yet all they've done is hurt their own cause. They not only dog Avengers but have taken cheap shots at the Cap and Thor films on other sites. All this did was agitate Marvel fans. It really didn't effect my enjoyment but it did make me vow to NOT pay one cent to see TDKR. I'll see it, I just won't PAY to see it because of the cheap shots. This coming from a guy that paid to see TDK many times and owns multiple copies on DVD. Congrats to them and their efforts, I hope more true Marvel fans join me.

Well I probably will not be watching tdkr in theatre but it will not be because of annoying nolanites (as much as I despise them) but simply because I'm not a fan of nolanverse. I respect other people's right to like tdk but I didn't at all; I saw it once in theatre and considered it a waste of my money. I haven't seen anything in tdkr to change my mind about the franchise or raise my ineterest.

So I guess by default I'm supporting your cause.

I'm sure all of the people involved in making the movie will support your cause of not paying them for their work which you can afford and will enjoy either way because of something completely out of their control that you can simply choose not to read when you're online.

And right there you've just countered your last post.

I was going to reply to your last post that you don't understand how beyond annoying nolan-worshippers are in their attitudes, but you've just demonstrated it.

You guys cannot stand to hear anybody put anything above your beloved nolan-stuff...and when people do you must intrude and shoot it down.

My comment about overshadowing has nothing to do with anticipation...it was about accomplishment. tdkr is just another Batman movie to most people outside of nolan fans. And when it's done it's done and the franchise will fade away. THE AVENGERS is a cinematic accomplishment in terms of achieving a coherent interconnected cinematic universe and the merging of four franchises into one. And it's only the beginning....it's a launching pad for limitless possibilities.

On a more general and non comparative note;lol, I just realized something interesting...

It seems like ALL of known Comic Book films that are either filming or in post production right now have seemingly one thing in common (if anything):

The heroes in the films of:

1. The Avengers
2. The Dark Knight Rises
3. The Amazing Spiderman
4. Man of Steel

All have some type of potential army that the heroes of the respective films must conquer and defeat instead of the standard dozen amount of goons that are typically dealt with within a minute's notice.

The Avengers have Loki's army to deal with, Spiderman MIGHT have to deal with some SWAT members that have been transformed into Lizards by the Lizard if the rumors are true...Batman has to deal with Bane's Army of Mercenaries, and Superman may have to deal with what's bound to be something unearthly given the motion capture individuals we've seen in the film being in combat with him.

He started his post well, but after the 'prologue' story...

You know what's more tedious than obsessive Nolan fanboys? Avengers fanboys being outraged and trying to understand the Nolanites.

Let's rise above it and talk Avengers, instead of this inane "They're STOOPID" chatter, where we're basically just fuelling the fire. People are entitled to like whatever the hell they want but unfortunately some people are just idiots. That's the long and short of it.

a cinematic universe that only real and true fanboys would care about...just like u say TDKR is another batman movie to most people...i can easily say the avengers is another superhero movie to most people as well...i'm not here to try and put one film over the other..believe me i will be there on opening night for both movies and i hope i will enjoy them most...and i agree...nolan worshippers are annoying....in there own eyes the guy can do no wrong...there are already a few things i'm not liking about this new movie but u know what...i've only seen a 6 minute trailer...a teaser trailer and a 2 min trailer so all i can do is reserve my judgement till i finally have watched it...i'm a batman fan first before nolan and the guy has a couple of his movies in my fav films section already...believe me i'm not shooting down anything or anybody...but to easily say that the avengers easily overshadows TDKR for any reason at all is just silly...both films have there hype and both films are highly anticipated...i prefer to just leave it at that...i spend most of my time and the bat boards and believe me its filled with morons...this board is filled with them too...just like every board on this site is...too bad we cant all just enjoy movies.....this aint no penis measuring contest:dry:

Better talk about the Avengers, before nolanites turn it into another war.:thor:

not my fault every franchise has its dedicated beloved followers..i was hyped for the trailer too but still also wanted to see MI4...lets not act like the avengers doesnt have a moronic following as well just TDKR or Spiderman have

Well said.

I love both franchises, and this bickering is quite tiring.

Anyway..

I just noticed this today. Apparently, Red Skull will be included in the Heroclix releases for the Avengers.

http://www.**************.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=51231

Charging straight out of theaters and onto your tabletop, the Avengers Movie HeroClix set features heroes like Captain America and Thor as they battle the villainy of the Red Skull and Loki! Each Counter-Top display includes standard one-figure boosters as well as new three-figure “Team Packs”! Team Packs are designed with strong thematic undertones – play a Hydra force or defend freedom with a S.H.I.E.L.D. team pack! The Avengers Movie HeroClix expansion includes over 40 new figures total to add to your collection! Featuring an impulse-friendly price point and unique content, the Avengers Movie single-figure boosters are an excellent product for new and established players! Each Single-figure booster and team pack also includes an exclusive code for HeroClix Online content as well!

While I would love for this to confirm Skull's presence in the film, I will not hold my breath.

Fair enough. The lack of news right now allows us to be easily distracted.

I really hope that french trailer description is true; it was sooooooo EPIC!!!

The "Nolanites" :awesome:
Sounds like the kryptonite for good and argumentative statements.

Lots of epic stuff! Too much to list here. Go to the site that shall not be named and go to their AVENGERS section and search through the archives.

Just curious, but do you guys think that 2 years is enough time for Asgardians to rebuild the Bi-Frost bridge?

They live a really long time, so years probably fly by, in 2 Earth years they're probably just starting about thinking about considering rebuilding it. :oldrazz:
