Alot of the promo art for this flick has Cap with ears exposed, I'm thinking we may get both in this movie, maybe the coverings are so he can comunicate with the team, some kind of radio, but it's all we've seen so maybe not.

You can't judge the helmet as a whole just based on set pics and promo pics, they wouldn't have went with it if they didn't think it'd look right. I could just as easily say it looks awesome if I only went by these pics:

The neck attachment is different, too. The opening seems to go down much lower, to the middle of the neck, in the promo shots. I think that adds to the awkwardness.

I think the promo art is just that:
Promo art.
I'm thinking Cap will only have the covered ear look we've seen in the live action shots.
Remember CA:TFA?
Most promo art had pseudo-chainmail padding from neck to shoulders and helmet strap that fastened under the chin, leaving his chin exposed.
A lot (most) of the merchandise box art used this template.
Even the Marvel Select Figure was patterned after it.
But it was not the final product seen in the movie. (thicker padded shoulders and an actual 'over the chin' strap)
So, for my part, I'll use this as a precedent to believe that the covered ear look is the only one we'll see in the movie.

I adore Cap's costume, cowl and all, when he's on the set and filming. In the promo shots, I do agree that the ears should be uncovered.

But that's barely a complaint. Just adding my $.02

Well even in the trailer in the case we see the different mask with holes for the ears. I imagine they tried it at first and changed it at the last minute.

Also other discrepancies. Like the action figures have the back star and back stripes while in the movie it looks like he doesn't have that.

Well if we are talking helmets. What do you guys think of them STILL not putting a helmet on Thor for combat? I dont care how "dorky" it will look, Thor needs his helmet, its a Part of who he is. Agree?

He doesn't need to wear it that much but it's a miss if he doesn't wear it at all. Even if for one combat scene it would be nice to see.

I love Chris Evans, but I'd be lying to myself if I said I didn't want John to be Steve Rogers. The guy has chops and charisma. It was a close competition, but we could only dream.
