no? how do you not understand that? if you give every character equal focus you get something like the recent rash of holiday romcoms. you have a story, and you choose your leads based on which focus best serves the story. hawkeye is my #4 favorite avenger, but an avengers formation story told from his POV isn't nearly as interesting as one told from cap's, or thor's, or ironman's.

and being a supporting player isn't a bad thing, it's a situation in which hawkeye, black widow, and the hulk thrive. they are unburdened with having to carry the story and are allowed to show up, be badass, and then disappear until needed again.
Yeah, this is how all the best team books work. Granted the longevity of comics allows everyone to get focus at some stage but if you're going to tell any one story it has to be this way to be engaging.

Also, how did Iron Man not burn Cap's shoulder when he sets up between Cap and Hulk in the bad ass Avengers Circle Shot? Sorry had to say something

repulsors are more like force energy than heat, right? he didn't set his desk and papers on fire or leave scortch marks on the cars when he hovered over them while testing his first suit.

ok I got ya... fair enough

good point

Its not a silver mask or silver armor. They show him attack the ships in the air clearly wearing the gold and red armor, then he gets hit, he falls, and is caught. Same armor

I love how the Hulk catches Iron Man mid air. I can't wait to see how Tony reacts to it.

It's pretty sweet. It's nice to see Hulk save someone other than his girlfriend for a change. A couple of people IRL have mentioned that part stood out to them, too.

I'll admit I was skeptical about his inclusion initially but everything looks like he'll be integrated into the team pretty well.

[BLACKOUT]And if that 'Hulk Smash' line from Cap is half as awesome as it is in my imagination then hoo-boy![/BLACKOUT]

When I saw the catch, I literally said "holy ****, that was awesome." Not only because it was a sweet piece of action, but because it's just about the only thing we've seen of the team together in action.

Everything we've seen of multiple Avengers together has been showing them fighting amongst themselves, or just striking action poses. Seeing two of them working together in the middle of a battle was thoroughly bad ass.

Nobody really gives a rats ass what you want out of this movie.

Guys, seriously give it a rest for a day. How much more can we possibly analyze this movie???
Dude, come one. That's pretty much completely uncalled for. All anyone on this board does is talk about what they want out of this movie. Why would I, or you, or AB be any different? All the things he listed were actually completely valid requests and not at all off the wall.

This is a board completely full of Avengers fans and you're asking them to stop analyzing the movie they're raving about? Why? That's all there is to do! It's pretty much the sole reason anyone comes here in the first place.

AB, you are some kind of wizard, because no matter what you say it has the innate ability to bring the absolute worst out of some of these people. I'm literally astounded.

I mean really look at your response to his comment Rock. Did anything he say in that post really warrant that kind of reaction from you? Anything at all? Because all I saw were a couple of hopeful requests for a science-fiction movie, and all completely sensible at that. I just can't make sense of it.

For one thing, Odin hasn't had the Cube in his possession for over a thousand years. It first sat in that tomb in Tønsberg, Norway from 965 AD until the Red Skull found it. After that, SHIELD took possession of it. Ever since I first saw CA:TFA, I've wondered why Odin didn't recover the Cube because it is one of the most powerful artifacts in the Marvel Universe. Hopefully the movie will explain Odin's disinterest.

One possible reason could be that the Cube is so immensely powerful that Odin preferred to leave it in an obscure Midgardian town, where few knew of its existence. So long as humanity had only primitive technology, the Cube would have been relatively safe from exploitation. Once technology advanced, however, the danger would become greater. A thousand years isn't long for an Asgardian, so perhaps Odin took his eye off Midgard and wasn't aware of the potential harm that could come from leaving the Cube here.

That's kind of the equivalent of leaving a gun and clip full of ammo hidden in a child's room, don't you agree? I'd expect a bit more wisdom from Odin.

What about Thor helping Cap up? Or Cap shielding Black Widow from the explosion?

Same here.

I'm kind of astounded that you manage to get so defensive on his behalf literally every single time anyone says anything to him

And lol at "the absolute worst [in] people". Melodramatic much?

I have been out for over a day, so I will respond to what I felt I wanted to..this is gunna be long, sorry guys :)

I just want Thor with chain mail legging like his arms and in the comic books, rather than just striped pants.

This is by far my faavorite appearance of thor, I would have no problems with plate mail on his legs.

Not a loss when there are still Nova, Dr Strange, Hercules, Moon Knight, and heck Blue Marvel got the chance.

Not Hercules, I bet. He is more known as a mythology character I think, and his own tales of mythology, and movies, I think he will be left alone.

Avengers 2 Lineup:

Captain America
Thor
Ant Man
Wasp
Hawkeye
Black Widow
Ms Marvel

How is it? Missing 2 key personnel, add 3 more including 2 more females.

I think this is absolutely disgusting, sorry bro. haha

Avengers will need to hold up without Iron Man and Hulk. Ideally the Avengers should have rotating rosters where the team is more important than each member. In reality RDJ may want to step down after IM3 or Marvel will need to pay up a heftier new contract. Hulk lives on TV.

That's been said, I think you're right losing IM and Hulk will be a big loss. But to me the addition of Ant Man and Ms Marvel present a dynamic better than the loss.

Strongly disagree, I dont have a problem with their addition, but replacing Hulk and Ironman with Hank and Jan for me is a no, and I will be very, very disappointed.

No it wouldn't, because Ultron is able to hack into every computer system in the world, meaning he could turn the entire world against itself.

Nah I don't really care about seeing the army of Ultron's used as support and I think Ultron would be best suited for Avengers 2 with Thanos or Kang being the villains Avengers 3

Thats what I think.

Thor is easily the least popular of the main four, I mean seriously if you go on youtube or The Avengers facebook page hardly any of the comments are about Thor.

You'd think a guy with an interesting mythology and a power set as cool as his would be alot more popular.

I know, he's the only main avenger who actually really exists outside of comics. Not literally, but he goes back to Norse Mythology.

This is an iconic image -

WHy have the helmet if Thor won't wear it? :(
It's The Big Three :applaud:cap::applaud

^ That doesn't really mean much. It's a C-list alien race like the Alpha Centaurians or the Sons of Muspell or the Knights of Wundagore. It won't mean anything aside from "Hey, guys, they were in the comics!". Their basic function is blow stuff up and fight the Avengers.

I don't know man..there's a lot of evidence pointing to Skrulls at this point.

I think the Alien Race is being over analysed. So far we have evidence of the Knights of Wundagore, Fing Fang Foom, Dark Elves, and the Annihilus. I believe Marvel are putting together an Alien Horde of characters that comic fans will recognize. Characters that have a long standing history in comics but would never have the chance of being in their own move. So while we may know that the creature is Fing Fang Foom it won't really be called that or even discussed. I see it as a tribute to fans while giving all these baddies a chance to shine.

Like I said, there is a lot of evidence pointing to skrulls.

Dude I dont even know, it looks like there are ***** in their mouths.

Damn, I wonder what that is? haha Super Skrull :X

hit the nail on the head.

Ive watched that scene a good 4 times per trailer view.

What about Thor helping Cap up? Or Cap shielding Black Widow from the explosion?
Thor helping Cap up wasn't an action piece. It was just Thor helping Cap up. Nothing too exciting.

And the Cap/Black Widow thing makes me feel the same way. It was mostly something that made me say "yeah, that's kinda cool." From the trailers, we only saw one angle for it, and it showed me more about Cap's bravery than the Avengers' teamwork. He was using his shield to protect her.

The Hulk/IM shot just shows us our first glimpse of how they work as a team during a battle.

I hope the thing Nick Fury is firing his rocket at is the leviathan

And I hope there's a line about a snake somewhere in there

WHy have the helmet if Thor won't wear it?:csad:

No one ever said that he wouldn't wear it. He wore it in Thor. He just didn't wear it into battle. It maybe the same way with Avengers. When Thor is introduced he may be wearing it.

Buddy, I don't care who it is I'm sticking up for, I'm gonna call BS when I see it, and that was clearly BS. And I don't literally stick up for him every single time anyone says anything to him, he's a grown man and can fight his own battles.

Everyone here can justify why he's the brunt of so much persecution all they want, but the fact of the matter is, it's never going to change anything. I knew a guy like AB on the very first forum I ever joined. He had a way of getting under a lot of people's skin because he said things that were unpopular and not always the consensus of the whole, and he would usually say it in an "in your face" kind of way. I found myself butting heads with him a few times, but I came to find out that he wasn't really out for blood or intentionally trying to antagonize people by saying what he wanted to say. He just said it in a way people didn't like to hear.

And then I started to realize that this guy was the only guy who could actually spark any kind of meaningful debate or conversation on those boards because he was one of the very few who could actually talk about something other than, "well wouldn't it be cool if this happened?" I started giving him a lot more credit for his knowledge and we eventually got on the same page a lot more often. Point being: I decided to hear what the guy had to say rather than fight back over something that's virtually unimportant in the long run. These are just movies after all.

So, sorry if I seem to be rushing to the man's aid, but I'm not gonna sit here and act like there's nothing wrong with wanting to shut someone up who has something intelligent to say. It's kinda dumb.

You kind of do. And I was thinking the same thing, that's he's a grown man and can fight his own battles. The way you go about posting in this thread, seems you feel differently

I'm not a bit surprised and it doesn't take a detective to figure out why.

And it really is *every time*, isn't it?

Guys, seriously give it a rest for a day. How much more can we possibly analyze this movie???

You mean in the Avengers: News and Speculation Thread? So much more. Why do some people still act surprised over stuff like this? It's what we do, get over it. If you don't want to analyze it then why ruin others' fun? :whatever:

So, if I had to detail as to what "emotional problem" each main character will have in this film, would you guys think that this list would be accurate?:

1. Steve Rogers (Captain America): Man out of Time; Lonely.

2. Thor: Having to confront his brother as his enemy.

3. Bruce Banner (Hulk): Having to deal with the two sides of his personality.

4. Tony Stark (Iron Man): With Captain America being her, having to live up to his father's reputation/legacy.

5. Hawkeye & Black Widow: Learning how to keep up and feel adequate in a group filled with physically superior beings against a threat that they weren't trained for.

6. Nick Fury: Having to learn that he can't control everything as he had hoped (ala the Cosmic Cube)

7. Loki: Finding his place in the universe.

What would you all do, like, if on the 2nd of May, there is this terrible storm that hits the USA and knocks all of our grids out, and it'll take months to get the power back on, making the wait for The Avengers that much longer.
