On another note we really need to get the Iron Man, Thor, and Cap boards merged in as sub-boards to the Avengers

I hate having to click around so much :argh:

Maybe once Marvel formally announces Black Panther and Ant-Man movies they'll realize it's dumb to have a separate forum for every Avenger who gets their own flick

That's hot.

i dislike this plan, i want to keep my distance in the cap boards from other boards that would be in this avengers lump. i feel it's better for both me and the patrons of the other section

If they never make a proper Cap 2 and he's only in Avenger flicks, all Cap:TFA threads will just be merged in with the Marvel Movies board, where topics go to die. Like TIH before it

Is that really a better fate? :o

It'd still be a sub-forum, like how all X-spinoffs are under X-Men banner. You could just avoid the other sub-forums

MIND BLOWING!!!

So Loki goes toe to toe with every avenger. so which fight is everyone most looking forward to seeing?

For me it's definately Thor vs Loki again, as I think that'll be the most emotional battle, and then Cap vs Loki. I'm excited at the thought that each one of them will try taking him down individually only to realise that he can't be beaten that way.

I agree, though you do kind of have to reach a breaking point usually to make things as difficult as possible. Just no need for a "turn of the tide" moment where a character catches a break, it's becoming too standard issue for action movies.

I think a good example to follow would be MI4, where [BLACKOUT]they have that moment where "The missile has been launched" and all is lost, but instead of catching a break the team kicks it into high gear and goes for it anyway. There's no glorious comeback, things are still made difficult as possible, especially in the automobile place the final fight is in. Hell, up till the very last second it's a struggle, with the abort button not working.[/BLACKOUT]

That movie was great with just continuously adding obstacles at every turn.

Agreed, I loved the constant struggle in the climax of MI4 and I'd much rather the team kick it into high gear when things get stuff instead of someone catching a break and turning the tide.

People seem to forget this isn't Loki forces vs the Avengers. This is Loki's Army vs the World and the Avengers are just one unit in the battle. Earth as a whole can be losing the war and the Avengers can just win strategic battles that turn the tide of the entire war. If this is a global threat, then the avengers can't be every where. Loki's will pretty much dominate 95% of the globe.

Don't know that that will be the case at all.
"Loki's Army" apparently doesn't show up until roughly the midpoint of the movie, or maybe a third of the way in at the earliest. The storybook which was leaked early contains a lot of details, but Loki's Army isn't present at all yet. Just Loki. So it's safe to say that Loki doesn't hatch his plan for conquest, and doesn't gather an army until well into the movie. And with him apparently gating them in, odds are that we're looking at a "Gangstas of the Nine Realms" motley crew after all.

In which case, the battle *does* take place entirely in NYC, as the jumping-off point for Loki's invasion. And if the Avengers presumably save the day there, then the battle begins and ends in NYC, with Our Heroes stopping the war in its tracks.

^ Yeah I think people who are expecting Loki's army to attack countries all over the world are in for a disappointment. I'm fine with the final battle taking place in NYC because that's where the invasion starts and The Avengers will be effectively stopping the invasion at the source.

Season 2 hasn't aired yet. They will start airing episodes in April (DisneyXD). So you have a few weeks to catch up :woot:

BTW - I just saw John Carter and LOVED it!! Go see that movie folks, I want it to make money so they green light the sequels.

Sorry to disappoint but with the abysmal BO opening weekend that, sadly, doesn't look likely.

Yes, it's just a coincidence. Do you know what would happen if other studios found that to be true? They would not allow Rotten Tomatoes to represent their properties, or at the very least take Time Warner to court for damages, which would destroy any credibility (and income) RT generates. It's bad business.

Sorry, but how could the studios 'deny RT to represent their properties'??? RT isn't representing anything. They are simply reporting reviews. And there would be too many loopholes for that lawsuit to work.

Sorry I think the painting was one the wall. They were waaayyy too enthusiastic about posting up the bad reviews and broadcasting it on twitter and when they had no choice and put up all the good reviews they went very silent about it on twitter.

I noticed in the "Loki's Army" thread someone threw out the Levians as a possibility. I did some research and discovered that the Levians have a ship called the Levianon.

The Levianon was the starship home of the Levian race. It carries approximately 5 million Levians at present. Although it was originally an advanced insterstellar vessel, generations of neglect have rendered it unable to chart its own course, and it currently drifts aimlessly, the Levians now unable to make repairs themselves. -Thor I#256-257

What does it mean? Probably nothing lol

Leviathan is also just a word that means large thing

Yeah, agree with this. It was always obvious, too be honest.

Yeah, think that was me that randomly threw that name out.
I was just thinking of random humanoid races, and recalled that one from old reprints I read when I was younger.
That name kinda got brought back up in my mind 'cause it sounds close kinda to the word 'Leviathan'.
We'll see how obscure Joss is willing to go if the invaders aren't some new creation for the film.

The Levians came to my mind too.

But for me, Alpha Centaurians and Pheragots are the top contenders.

But then there are also the Baluurians... a race from the Negative Zone. Most prominent members are Blastaar und Burstaar.

Pros:
- They have blue/grey skin.
- They have a certain savage look, like the creatures from the trailer.
- They come from the Negative Zone and someone said a few days ago it would be logical that Loki had fallen into the Negative Zone at the end of Thor 1.

Cons:
- They have five toes.
- They are a lot more hairy than the creatures from the trailer.
- Whedon said he does not use the Kree or Skrull as they have too much background. The same would be true for Blastaar and his Baluurians. Besides, Blastaar is a classic Fantastic Four enemy. And Baluurians without Blastaar...:whatever:

The Negative Zone is the key IMO. I'm positive that whatever the threat may be will be coming from the negative zone

I like tying into the N Zone.
Of Course Whedon could go the obvious/obscure route and just use a repurposed/refashioned version of an alien race the Avengers faced in their 2nd issue:
The Space Phantom.
(I mean, he/they really didn't have a backstory 'till WAY later, and Thier race essentially look alike)
Heck, if that were the case, even one of the Avengers could coin the phrase "space phantom"

Saw the new Avengers trailer in IMAX 3D tonight before John Carter.

It looked really good honestly, a little better than I expected. The Iron Man flying scene is really busy and could be tough to look at if your to close in 3D.

It was awesome though.

well I saw the same movie. JC was not bad. The 3d was not that impressive. trailer wise I got the shaft. no Avengers

The 616 Captain Marvel has a different bio. But, there are some similarities with the Ultimate version, and the EMH Mahr-Vehl also follows the Ultimates.

-616 Mar-Vell took the identity "Walter Lawson" and worked at NASA when he first got to Earth.

-Ultimates Mahr-Vehl was "Philip Lawson," as was the EMH version. From Philip Lawson to Philip Coulson is not a huge leap. Now we have the name of the Ultimate Captain Marvel's father, Geherenis Kohl HalaSon, to add to the mix.

This is either a massive red herring, or a coincidence, or Marvel had plans for Phil Coulson that go beyond being an unassuming SHIELD agent. Given what Marvel Freshman has posted, it seems toy they may have wanted Coulson to be:cwink: connected to Mahr-Vehl at some point. Who knows if that's still the case.
Very cool.
We've speculated for a long time that he might be
Mar-Vell.. If he is then i hope one of the seemingly random female Shield agents is named Carol ;)

There's still hope. We've had movies with weak openings that later do well due to positive word of mouth. Blade and the first Matrix come to mind. John Cater deserves a sequel. Its a great movie.
