I'm just curious - whatever happened to that rumour concerning Kevin Pennington up for a role in the MCU? Was anything ever clarified/confirmed/denied back then or more recently?

Twas just that, unsubstantiated rumors that he and his publicist came up with to get him attention. He was probably looked at (auditioned for) a few roles but that's it. PR game to the max.

Wherein really gets it. I have complete faith that he didn't screw it up. It's nice to see that he is really passionate

People keep mentioning this Pennington guy. Who is he? Is he known for anything?

Have Whedon, Feige et al. even been specifically asked about Thanos in interviews?

On the twitter convo it was asked several hundred times like spider man, yet no answer. Just remember I was the first to let you know.

It's a joke from a couple years ago when they were casting Avengers. Every few days a new piece of "news" would come out (usually on CBM) about a role Pennington was "up" for. Captain Marvel, Iron Fist, Quasar, Human Torch in a F4 reboot, Iceman in an X-Men reboot, etc

Interesting (sad?) thing to note: Two of my friends saw John Carter this weekend and reported that a handful of people actually left the theater after The Avengers trailer (two different theaters, two different states). I'm guessing they were there to see other movies and not JC, but, regardless bounced after the 3D Avengers goodness.

Season 2 hasn't aired yet. They will start airing episodes in April (DisneyXD). So you have a few weeks to catch up :woot:

BTW - I just saw John Carter and LOVED it!! Go see that movie folks, I want it to make money so they green light the sequels.

I totally agree i saw the midnight screening and i loved it. I really don't understand the ratings that it is getting on rotten tomatoes.

Get out!
Nah
really?

Is this also in the 616 bio?

The 616 Captain Marvel has a different bio. But, there are some similarities with the Ultimate version, and the EMH Mahr-Vehl also follows the Ultimates.

-616 Mar-Vell took the identity "Walter Lawson" and worked at NASA when he first got to Earth.

-Ultimates Mahr-Vehl was "Philip Lawson," as was the EMH version. From Philip Lawson to Philip Coulson is not a huge leap. Now we have the name of the Ultimate Captain Marvel's father, Geherenis Kohl HalaSon, to add to the mix.

This is either a massive red herring, or a coincidence, or Marvel had plans for Phil Coulson that go beyond being an unassuming SHIELD agent. Given what Marvel Freshman has posted, it seems like they may have wanted Coulson to be connected to Mahr-Vehl at some point. Who knows if that's still the case.

....people seriously believe WB has influence over RT ratings and reviews?
The same was said when News Corp (parent company of Fox) owned Rotten Tomatoes.

It's always been bologna suggestion.

I'm actually kinda sad to hear Joss specifically dismiss the Kree and the Skrulls outright, but it didn't make sense that the Kree would ally with Loki anyway. They may be *****es, but they can at least recognize a just and righteous cause versus an evil one, and they would've seen Loki's scheme as pure tyranny.

True. The questions chosen for the Twitter chat were screened to keep out real spoilers. What I was referring to were the interviews Whedon, Feige and others have given to the media. I can't recall any reporter or blogger asking either of them about Thanos. Maybe they have requested that topic be off-limits because one would think it would come up otherwise. There has been plenty of Internet chatter about the Mad Titan, and even though most reporters are clueless about Marvel history one of two must have picked up on it.

I've seen one reporter ask Feige the Thanos question flat out and he got the good old eye roll.

Most reporters who interview Avengers cast/crew are very well aware of the latest rumors and many are comic book fans themselves (hence, why we sit on a computer all day writing entertainment news). The thing about interviews is that you are only allotted a very small timeframe (usually 5 -10 minutes) to conduct it, and you don't want to waste questions on stuff you know they won't answer. When you do on set interviews for big films (like for Avengers) you're given a cue card with hot topics to either try to bring up or stay away from.

I don't know about the majority of fans and/or fanboys but even as a journalist I like going into a film with the element of surprise looming overhead. Especially for a film I'm really looking forward to.

Nice.

Hawkeye is obviously going to be the least important Avenger, but he looks cool. I'm hoping for a SHIELD spin-off where Black Widow and him take center stage.

I am sure there is an innuendo laden comment I could make here, but I can't look away from those arms enough to be able to think of one.

Anyways, I'm not the kind of person to collect cans, but I think I'll make an exception here. Good thing I like Dr. Pepper.

When i went and saw JC, people were basically laughing AT not with the MIB3 trailer.

well I saw JC in IMAX and there were no Avengers to be found, I did complain and got a free popcorn out of it but was still very disappointed. The Avengers trailer was not "unlocked" for my showing since another company not Disney handles what trailers are attached to their films. Yeah JC was pretty good but if I had seen the Avengers on the big screen(NOTHING beats seeing a trailer in the theater nothing)

I mostly just commented b/c i've seen a lot of speculation lately of who's going to get more screen time and who's going to be the baddies and what not. Which i know is a make or break for a good amount of people. I just wanted to throw the main majority's 2 cents in on what most people probably expect.

I honestly can say I'm a bit of a superhero dork, but it's mainly started from Iron Man1 and the after credits that got me interested. I don't really know the history of the avengers or who fits in properly and who doesn't. But from a viewer standpoint I like what they've done so far.

I honestly have no Clue about Antman/Giantman and Wasp and Ultron, but I plan on watching A:EMH because from what I've picked up on here it seems to do an alright job of giving a bit of a background similar to what's going on in the MCU a little bit.

May I ask. If you are not a big comic book reader, and aren't a fanboy like myself, what is it that got you so interested in marvel recently? Just curious :)

Honestly if its not the kree or skrull, I dont care who it is. lol. A huge majority of the races we've mentioned just arent really importantnt. I just wanna see the avengers fight something. :p
Same

This is the guy who posted that fuzy picture and said he works on set, so I am taking his word.

I believe you

I would have been not pleased

I have never understood how people could pay to see a movie only because they wanted to see a trailer before now. The first time I heard of that happening was when the trailer for The Phantom Menace was attached to some movie -- Meet Joe Black, I believe. Obsessed fans went in droves, only to leave the theater as soon as the trailer played. Back then I thought they were crazy. Now I kind of understand.

You think he's going to be less important than Black Widow, shouldn't they be about even?

Saw the new Avengers trailer in IMAX 3D tonight before John Carter.

It looked really good honestly, a little better than I expected. The Iron Man flying scene is really busy and could be tough to look at if your to close in 3D.

It was awesome though.

It happens. I did this only once in my life, and that was when I saw the opening midnight showing of Second Hand Lions just to catch the first ever trailer of Return of the King. Luckily, it worked out for me because the movie ended up being pretty good, and I bought it eventually.
