The marketing for this film began fine with the teaser "A" poster & the banner of Cap, Ruffalo, RDJ & Thor. It went to **** once they released the new poster with "ROBERT DOWNEY JR. 'THE AVENGERS'" and made Cap into a background character. Then came that absurd Japanese poster with RDJ's giant head. I keep saying it, its okay to let Downey get top billing & be the central focus of the marketing campaign, its just not okay to take it to the level they've taken it. A buddy of mine saw the new Avengers poster when we went to see Wim Wenders' PINA & he said to me " Why is Cap all the way in the back?" I replied "Because the people marketing this film are idiots." They're turning off the fanbase, which can only hurt their BO.
What sort of idiot is going to skip this film because RDJ is at the front in a couple of posters? It's not an issue at all. He is the biggest star and iron man was the first movie
