I´ll be frank with you, probably in the minority here, but i loved the Earth segments of Thor the most.

They were quite funny! Glad it was done that way so we can see more of the 9 realms in the next round.

There wasn't anything wrong with them because they fit the story. But Thor would have been on Earth twice to handle big events after this movie comes out. Enough is enough. Not even the Enchantress and Skurge (whereever that rumor came from) would be worth seeing as villains. Surtur, or someone of his magnitude and power level.

I think Surtur should be saved for the 3rd movie, ending the possible trilogy.

Loki can't be going after the mind control gem unless they depowered the hell out of it for the MCU. If he has the mind control gem then he wouldn't need an army of aliens to distract/defeat The Avengers. The mind control gem can turn the will of entire civilizations all at once.

How about the rumor that Hawkeye helped Loki to break out of the prison because he was mind-controlled? That seems to point to the existence of the mind control gem.

I'd prefer to see future Thor movies taking place mostly in the Nine Realms, too. Having him spend that time on Earth is a complete waste when there's so much more to him that sets him apart from the average run-of-the-mill superhero. Instead of running from that they should embrace it. Go all out Lord of the Rings with the next two movies, while his Earthbound adventures occur in future Avengers movies.

Loki was shown to be controlling Selvig at the end of THOR. He doesn't need the gem to control Hawkeye.

Loki doesn't want an Earth full of mindless people bidding to his will. He wants to RULE them. He wants Earthlings to willingly kneel before him as their ruler. Thanos wanted the mind gem because all he cared about was universal obedience.

Loki controls different Avengers throughout the film. He basically goes from one to the other. That's what makes Captain America stand out in their fight. He "can" control Thor but it doesn't serve his purpose.
