ok I'm just gonna throw this out there, just for fun! Loki is a master of magic. He can control quite few minds, but then he needs something to get total control on a global scale (gems)hehe.... and he uses his army to destroy all those who it doesn't effect, ie; the avengers, shield, military etc. :)

Hmm question, is there any mention anywhere of someone who the gems don't effect?

Err...

Loki controls different Avengers throughout the film. He basically goes from one to the other. That's what makes Captain America stand out in their fight. He "can" control Thor but it doesn't serve his purpose.

Wait, so does that mean that Loki is incapable of controlling Steve, and hence why he stands out?

Honestly I'm not convinced the gems are in this either, but it is fun to speculate, so don't think I'm serious when I'm truly undecided. :)

Now that sounds like LOKI! :woot:

Any more where that came from?

Thor 2 should be nothing less than LOTR styled battles AWAY from Earth. And give me Surtur. That's a villain you can team everyone against including Loki. Anything less will disappoint.

Nah, I'm hoping they save Surtur for Thor 3. For Thor 2, they should use someone else. Malekith, maybe, or the Enchantress and Executioner. Or both.

The small res version fits perfectly into Facebooks new banner function.

Wait...wait...
Since when has Loki been able to mind control Thor? If he could do that, why didn't he do that to his brother when Thor became King? And why wouldn't he take control of Thor and have him do horrible things To further destroy him? If Loki could control Thor, having him not do it would make no sense at all. Especially since one of Loki's prime aims is to cause his brother pain.

Also, I don't recall Loki controlling Thor in stories before. Though I'm by no means a Thor buff

It's not so much that he can or can't, it's that he more than likely never tried. Up until the events of the Thor movie Loki didn't do anything inherently evil or cause major mischief, so in this film especially he's "spreading his wings".

Also, he doesn't want to control Thor. He never has. Humiliate him, yes. Make him do his bidding willfully, yes. But control him? Not his style.

Pretty sure he doesn't mean mind control but he means that Thor is his brother so Loki has some emotional control over Thor

Is there any particular reason why Loki decided to attack NYC? I know it makes it far more convenient if all the Avengers were together in one city to do battle against Loki's army, but I'd like to know if there's a plot that explains Loki's motive for concentrating his forces against one city instead of the whole world.

There's something in Stark Tower he needs

In the comics? Na, when the gems are together on the gauntlet and being used by someone who knows what they are doing ie Thanos, the user is pretty much omnipotent.

The only beings who have control over the gems/gauntlet are the Living Tribunal and The One Above All.

Not his style? I'm pretty sure Loki would control Thor if he had the power. Loki wants to screw with his brothers head. What better way then, say, controlling him and making him kill Jane? Or just on practical purposes alone. Thor is one of the two "heavy hitters" the Avengers has. Take him out of commission, or turn him on the team and he wins much more easily.

I don't think Loki has the power to use mind-control on Thor though, because Thor is a fellow Asgardian. And like I said, if he did have that power and he didn't use it, it just wouldn't make sense.

That would make sense except Loki isn't an Asgardian in any incarnation

Don't Asgardians have a level of natural resistance to telepathy/mind control anyway?

Yes, to an extent. It has to do with their placement in the Nine Realms. Asgard being more towards it's center make it's inhabitants closer to "perfection" while Midgard is centralized it's far below Asgard (linearly) and the further away the fringe Realms are the more basic and animistic their inhabitants are.

That being said, Loki is the most powerful other-worldly magician in the MU. I'm sure if he wanted to he could control a few to an extent. But mind control all goes down to forcible willpower, the lesser you have the easier you are to control.

Essentially Hawkeye has no willpower. He's always been easily manipulated by women. That's how he started in the comics. He was the attack dog for Black Widow.

I want to know Poni Boy's source.

Being manipulated by femme fatales doesn't necessarily mean you have no willpower. It just means you think with your penis instead of your brain :D

Hawkeye's a soldier first and foremost. We aren't known for having strong independent will as we are following orders. Knowhatimsayin?

Being able to mind contol someone and Easily Mind controling someone are 2 diffence things. Loki mind controling Thor may require more efort than normal and he may not be able to mantaine it for long peroids of time.

Is there any mention of Loki's mother in the MCU? We know who his pops is, but could he be half Asgardian or even human? Since he's "small for a giants offspring"? Like you know cause the giants were on Earth for a time and Loki was a baby at the end of the war...
Also why pick Earth to rule anyway? ......Chocolate? Coffee? lol ....Seriously why not another one of the lesser realms, aside from we have the cube and such, is it like a jumping off point for him, spread out from here? Or is it just to steal cube and maybe annoy Thor? Simple plot.

Yahtzee. It's not always black and white
