Soooo, next topic....To 3D or not to 3D. I fully intend to see this both ways, but should I see it in 3D first or not? I can't decide. Recommendations?
I'm seeing it in 3D first (mainly because that's what my theater has available for tickets on opening day right now). I'm usually iffy about 3D - but this one I'm willing to give a shot. I'll probably see it the next day in 2D (and any subsequent times after that will probably be in 2D)

I always skip 3-D whenever possible(which is most of the time). I've never seen it add anything to a film that made me glad I payed extra for it.

Is there any chance it gets 2D on IMAX? It seems like all new IMAX movies are only 3D.

I tend to agree with this

I refused to go see Avatar

the first 3D I ever saw was Tangled and it was only because I was going with my daughter and the 2D was sold out and a 3D was showing only 20 minutes behind it -

THe lantern seen at the end kinda sold me..... it was very cool, and made me interested enough to see the Lorax in 3D..... but bottom line it's only things that float that really kinda pop in 3D ..... like snowflakes falling or flower petals

not enough to make it a mainstay every time IMO

You can't really compare animated 3D movies to post production live action ones. The former look fantastic because they are designed that was from the ground up.

That being said, I hate 3D in general. Only Hugo and Avatar have impressed me.

Probably not. Tho the cosest Imax to ME is 3 hours away. Tho our town has a 24 screen multiplex at the north side of town and another on the south side both owned by the same company. We get many movies in both 2d and 3d.
Up north of chicago our Imax near the house had all different runs if they got enough requests. Example they ran the LotR EXTENDED back to back.

Just an FYI I was directed to keep out from this thread by someone I work with because apparently either Disney or Marvel has a plant here to gather news on leaks and spread disinformation.

I told a few people via PM last night and had planned on staying away, but that's not my style. Especially because it's pretty obvious who the plant is

That is all

The only 3D film i've really enjoyed was Tron Legacy. That was awesome. It doesn't appeal to me in a grounded, real looking environment. It worked on The Grid because it was so fantastical, it was literally like a different world.

But i don't really like the whole concept of wearing those glasses for 2 hours. In ten years or so, when 3D evolves into proper, fully realised holograms without the need for glasses? Yea, that is when i'll be all for it.

I'll see it in 2d first, then in 3D.
I'll more than likely get to see the 3D prescreening, since we guard those alot and we've already guarded a roughcut viewing. (missed out on THAT tho :cmad:)

heh Why wouldn't there be one in the First place Poni? Have you ever know these boards NOT to have a plant of some kind?
I'd rather have one than not. This way they can go back to Marvel and tell them how we LIKE things.

Corpy and I both paid to see that too, but WE wanted to see the Thor Trailer and MY theater didn't have it! Still liked Tron tho lol

Go watch Hugo Cabret.
I hate 3D with a passion and find it incredible unnecessary, but Hugo was the first movie that showed how 3D can add to the movie rather than distract.

I can't imagine how awful it must be to work as a Marvel plant on these boards. They must report back the same thing every day. "They're *****ing about minutiae. Also cite lack of new things."

I have no idea. It obviously makes sense that that happens but, man, I got reamed out last night for "arguing" with the info they are trying to put out.

That's why I won't stay away, no studio owns me or tells me what to do. I'll leak the whole goddamn movie if I want to (with spoiler tags of course)

Agreed, was brilliant. Saw it three times in theaters. Scorsese deserved the Oscar.

missed that I guess, But as long as you're "safe" about it that's fine but if WE at the Hype are told to take it down we'd have to.
Just like showing Bootleg, and WHY I can't say anything about the Rough cut, because my BOSS saw it and signed documents we ALL at the Security company would stay mum.

Haha I meant that figuratively, not like I have plans to :oldrazz:

But, yeah, NDAs are a *****.

I thought Thor's main weakness (like Superman) is that he's vulnerable to magic? He's forever getting mind-jacked by Enchantress. Why wouldn't Loki be able to do it?

Thor's not vulnerable to magic. Quite the contrary, he has pretty hefty resistance to it. The Enchantress can mind control him semi-regularly because he's a horny alpha male, and she specializes in emotion control. Even so, I think its been decades since she could actually get him to do anything by means other than ordinary persuasion; he's just too suspicious of her for her magic to influence him much.

Haven't seen Hugo, Wishin' I did tho. I agree tho 3D has it's place, and can should be used more as an added enhancement.
When Joe was talking about First Avenger I was happy he didn't want to over do the shield coming at you every two minutes.
lol It worked too, cuz the one scene where Cap after the motorcycle hits the door and he's fightning and the shield bounces off the truck, I jumped! lol

Every fan forum I've ever been involved with has been infiltrated by reps from the media companies controlling whatever we were discussing, whether it was a TV show, a movie or a popular singer. It can be interesting, or it can get to be downright threatening if they feel inside information is being leaked.

The presence of a plant explains how that one guy who worked for a toy company was busted for posting images of the Helicarrier here within minutes of having done so. Well, that and the fact that someone from voldemort.com copied and posted them on the front page over there with a big, screaming headline.

heh Just wish my boss knew more about comicbooks. what I could get out of him by simply showing pictures was minimal anyway lol

On A:EMH she didn't seem to have a problem controlling him with hallucinations. I don't profess to be a Thor scholar, but if he's not weak to magic what IS his weakness?

Thor's learned how to fight them off. Tho Hulk's mind is a bit simpler and easily duped by those magiks.

Edit: tho WEAKNESS for Thor is more or less knowing when to STOP fighting in a fight. lol

His humanity- Donald Blake

There is also getting smacked around by something bigger and mental manipulation. Weakness to magic is iffy, depends on the writer and the story.
