Oh, and having read the last couple of pages - about this supposed 'death'. What if it's not actually a death per se, but simply the metamorphosis of one character to another, with the 'death' simply being that we wont see that character [as we've come to know them] again?

I'm thinking [BLACKOUT]Coulson becomes Marv-ell[/BLACKOUT], given those rumours from a couple of months back.

Interesting thought.

Has there been any real inside info suggesting a death or are we just theorising based upon JW's propensity for killing off characters and this has now taken a life of it's own???

I wonder why they never comment on the fact, whenever going through an official round up of the films that came before "The Avengers", that Ed Norton was Bruce Banner first in TIH. I mean, I know that he's no longer playing him, but would it be that bad for them to acknowledged that he was a part of the universe before dropping out of the project and mark coming on to fill in the role.

Also, I wonder what their definition of success is since while TIH may not have bombed and that it made more money than "Hulk", it was not the success that the other MCU films have turned out to be.

nope...

I think its likely they believe there's no need and the character is bigger than the actor

like Odin going into the Odinsleep?
Yeah I doubt they'll kill off a major Character unless the character's meant to die, but Mar Vell did die of cancer yet YEARS after he was a superhero on earth.

Didn't Mark get booed at Comic Con last year when he was introduced as Bruce Banner/ Hulk? LOL that should have been a big warning sigh right there for Marvel. I really enjoyed Ed Norton in TIH and its a shame him and Marvel Studios Kevin Ferge didn't get along.

If Fury "Dies" it almost has to be an LMD that gets destroyed. I, for one, would like to see the Life Model Decoys in this movie in some form or fashion.

THAT I could See MK. How many times has that happened at Marvel with and LMD lol
It'd be a great way to end the film and lead it into Avengers two!

Edit: can't really say the "Butler did it" Jarvis is a computer...yet not Ultron yet :D

I thought TIH was one of Norton's weaker performances. He was kinda just, there.

To this day I still don't understand where you get that.

The guy was a MASSIVE Hulk fan. He put a lot of time and energy into the character. It's not like you were watching a piece of dead wood out there like Channing Tatum.

lol tatum is more dead wood than schwarzengger ever was:-)
no seriously...
edward headed for some other direction than what the others had in mind...
not better or worse ...
i kind of liked his ideas, like the cut out opening scene, i guess he wanted it to be more mature with but what the studio didnt wanted cause of business strategies...
so i guess having a great actor in a non pleased enviroment wont bring the very best out of him...

It was a bit of knee-jerk reaction from the studio to cut some of the drama as 2003 HULK was over-drama-ed to the point of boredom for most viewers.

But the film flows beautifully in the final cut and Norton did a fine job; no complaints about his perfromance.

I really wish he could have swallowed his pride and put his ego aside for the franchise but c'est la vie.

I wonder though, would he have really brought more star power to THE AVENGERS cast line-up than Mark Ruffalo?

MR has been more in the spotlight recently with his Oscar nom IMO.

I like Norton more as an actor but I like the fact that MR resembles Bill Bixby and THE HULK.

That hopefully means they will be doing this for each Avenger. Nice.
Agreed... it'll be nice to have one for each avenger (and maybe one for Loki too? :oldrazz:)... what would be even nicer is if we could get an English set of these character trailers.

There's one for Iron Man, Cap, Thor and Nick Fury. We're just missing Hawkeye and Bruce Banner.

Yea, and being a massive Hulk fan maybe all the crap going on behind the scenes effected his enthusiasm. It was like he sleep walked through the movie. He didn't really have a great screen presence and just seemed completely devoid of personality or emotion, even in the scenes with Betty.

Compared to his other roles like in American History X, Primal Fear, Kingdom of Heaven, Fight Club... it was a nothing performance.

How do you go about comparing a character like Bruce Banner to any of the guys you're referring to in those movies? I think the distinction needs to be made because it's not apples to apples. Alas, as we saw, Marvel did not allow him to weave in some of the more dramatic moments they shot.

Thor is wet in that shot where he summons his hammer. He's also on the helicarrier. Maybe the hulk knocks him off into the water and he flies back up and now he's really mad?

Yes they are different roles and characters, but that doesn't mean you can't compare them to a certain degree. All those roles Norton has a strong presence on screen, he makes the characters believable and full of life, whether they are Neo Nazi nut cases, Leprosy afflicted Kings, or quietly disillusioned yuppies.

His Banner didn't have any presence or real character/personality at all. He seemed jaded, not very enthusiastic. Like i said, maybe all the behind the scenes arguments effected him. I bet people don't even remember he played Hulk.

I don't think most people complain about Norton's performance in TIH (which I thought was fine/good) but at the same time the constraints of the film don't allow him to show his best. RDJ for example is able to show himself near his best as Stark and although he could probably pull off other roles in the Marvel films, they wouldn't give him a chance to showcase his best skills.

I really only think people want Norton in the Avengers based on his prior work/performances and not necessarily because of his performance in TIH which was not one of his better ones.

I felt we should've gotten better (not a very good follow up to RDJ's performance).

I will say that Norton did give a godd performance but he could've done alot better but also alot worse.
