Yup, I can't wait to see how each character is going to be put through their paces. I hope (and sure) there will be a couple heartbreaking moments between them, or at least a tear given.

If he can pull that off then the battle will be truly amazing. If it comes to the point where you fear for Hulk and Thor, then it's really serious.

Here's the interview Whedon did with NYT:

Q: How did you pitch “Avengers” to them in that e-mail?

A: I was like, I don’t know if I want to make an “Avengers” movie, so I’ll give you some ideas about where I think you might go with it. If it’s about the origin of a team that doesn’t make sense together, and they really don’t, then you have to use the “Dirty Dozen” model, which is an hour and 40 minutes of training and 20 minutes of Nazi-killing. So I laid out my ideas, the biggest one being, I think it’s a war movie. That’s the only way you can make these people feel like they might lose. You can’t just create six exact matches but slightly bigger, six Abominations – you can’t do that. What you can do is put them through so much that you get that feeling of, I don’t know what’s going to happen to them – they might not all come back from this. And I felt it even more strongly when I watched “Black Hawk Down.” I was like, O.K., that’s the movie I want to make. My first memo was 3 or 4 pages, and from that, they started to get excited about what I was saying and I started to get excited about what I was saying. I was like, Oh, this actually sounds fun. These people are broken. I can write about these people. They’re tortured and strange.

I'm gonna see this film in theaters no less than 5 times, I saw THOR 3 times and this is a much bigger film so I'll be sure to get my fill.

If it lives up to my sky high expectations I'll see it 3 times opening weekend and then at least once a week until TDKR comes out.

It would be cool if they eventually started doing it how pixar and dreamworks do their credits and there is a window showing teasers for upcoming films while the credits roll off to the side! (instead of the albeit funny blooper/gag reels.)

How do we know if RDJ is even being serious since he does say a lot things in jest or sarcastically? I sure hope they are because I'd imagine Marvel would also want something leading into IM3.

This is pretty much why I'm not interested in MoE; I don't like the idea of heroes having designated targets for the "final battle." There's no sense of bombardment, like they've bitten off more than they can chew.
