Any contract can be undone, all it takes is money. Disney/Marvel could easily buy the rights back to the characters who don't have movies being made. With X-men it's a little more dubious, but it should not be a problem getting FF and DD back but it will cost money.

Spider-man I think will depend on how successful TASM is.

I just want Marvel to get the F4 rights back. CouldN'T care less about Spidey and X-Men. Mainly because i believe they are in good hands anyway.

Yeah, I seconded your opinion. Although it would've been nice to see Marvel taking a crack at the mutants, the truth is that it would've been hard to focus on both X-Men and the Avengers at the same time due to budget constraint, and since First Class really wiped the bitter taste in our mouth left from the atrocious offerings of X3 and XMO: Wolverine, I don't mind if Fox keeps the rights for awhile.

Fantastic Four is different, because Fox hasn't shown that they know what to do with this franchise yet, having given a couple of mediocre-to-awful movies, plus FF is Marvel's First Family so I'd love to see they go back to where they belong. Furthermore, I think FF and Avengers have this excellent synergy between them, because both have elements of space fantasies which could work well with each other, and Dr. Doom is simply too big a villain for FF to take on alone; he'd be MAGNIFICENT in an Avengers' movie. Just imagine all the Doombots taking over the city, and Doom's combination of technology and sorcery creating havoc against the team. The possibilities are endless, but sadly unless Fox relinguished the rights, I just can't see FF going back to Marvel.

The one franchise I'd say Disney pretty much could improve upon assuredly is FF. That whole concept just always felt very Disney to me.

First Class wasn't excellent was fairly decent. Better than X1 but under X2.

That's a fair assessment. I think XFC gets a bit overrated because people equate fantastic performances by Fassbender and McAvoy as equating to a fantastic movie. I enjoyed XFC, but there are plot holes you could drive a mac truck through. It sill pisses me off how Darwin goes down like a whimp, after displaying how powerful he is.

My only problem with First Class was the kids being a bit too annoying. And the theme was a bit too on the nose.

Other than that, i think it's excellent. Great arcs and performances for the two leads. Brilliant villain. Amazing action scenes. Cool score that had an almost, 70s style Bond twang to it. Perfect finale with a wicked final scene.

I'm more in favour of Marvel buying the films in order to do crossovers. Otherwise, I think they're in good hands. Fantastic Four wasn't too bad. Then again, I don't really read fantastic four. X-Men however (life long reader) have had their ups and downs. I personally though X3 was most true to the comics. And it did have its fantastic moments...but again, it did have its bad moments.

Do you guys think perhaps Marvel made a mistake and should've premiered The Avengers on April 27 instead of May 4? With all the trailers released and reviews from other countries coming in, I can sense that a great momentum is building quickly, but the movie is still 2 weeks away. If they release the movie a week earlier, it will not just capitalize on the strong buzz and excitement over the movie right now, but it will also give them 2 weeks ahead of Dark Shadows and 3 weeks ahead of Battleship. I guess they want more time to shoot that mid-credit scene, but imo they should've moved it up, like Fast 5 did last summer.

We really don't need the X-Men back because how would they fit in the current MCU. Having Quicksilver & Scarlet Witch makes me happy, but I rather we go after selective characters from FOX.

Fantastic Four - I'm on the fence with them. While many want them back I never cared for them. Only think I would love in the MCU in DOOM.
Silver Surfer (Galactus)
Daredevil - Does he bring anything to the current MCU?

Now I would love if we could get certain mutants who I feel help the MCU

Firestar For a future New Warriors cartoon
Nitro For a Civil War storyline
Sauron for a Ka-Zar story.
Alpha Flight
Kitty Pryde Love how she's a badazz in the Ultimate Universe.
F4 are kind of a focal point for the MU. Despite the films not being the greatest I think they're possibly the most important guys to get back.

The X-universe is a bit overbearing with mutants mixed up in the general population so it would be more challenging to integrate than the rest. Saying that, although Fox have got back onto the right track I don't think they yet have the faith in the product that Marvel would have. There's no reason why a proper big budget X-Men film can't be as good as Avengers.

Spidey also is the poster boy of the MU. It's a shame not having what I feel is Marvel's no.1 character in their universe.

I wouldn't want Spidey to be an Avenger, because as far as i'm concerned he isn't a character that works on a team. But it'd be so cool to have him swing by Stark Tower or something. Just cool little nods like that.

Definitely having Spidey as part of the MCU but not directly an Avenger would be great. I want these characters to exist in the same world but that doesn't mean that they have to co-exist on the same teams. I feel much the same way about Dr. Strange, I can't wait to see him introduced into the MCU but I'm not sure I'd want him to be an Avenger.

Of course not. He's not an Avenger. Never was, never will be. But I hope and pray to the FSM that sooner or later MCU Strange will found the MCU Defenders.

Yea, it'd be cool if the Avengers have to call up Dr Strange about some mystic force or something, but not necessarily have him as a member.

I really wonder what Fox's deal for FF is. How long do they have to make another film before the rights revert to Marvel? It's been 5 years since FF2. How long of a contract can they have?

Daredevil would work better as a tv show, if Marvel ever gets it back.

X-Men: First Class was the best X-Men film yet, but that's not saying much. I didn't like the other X films at all. There is a lot of potential with the franchise. I kinda wish they'd be turned into a tv show as well. The serialized aspect of tv would greatly help with such a large cast as the X-Men have. We'll see what they do with the next X-Men movie, but I think they missed out by not making FC a complete reboot. They've used up all the main X characters with the numerous cameos and what not, so the cast of characters is dwindling. Better to start completely fresh and not try to squeeze between all the effed up continuity the films have made.

As far as I recall Ash, Fox is currently developing a new FF movie. For the expiry f the contract, who knows? haha.

Man, I woul LOVE to see a Defenders movie one day. The thing is I want Silver Surfer in it, the big three are Doc, Hulk and Silver Surfer so I hoping that the F4 rights come back to marvel ASAP

I'm surprised no one's talking about Rich Ross and what this may mean for Marvel and Kevin Feige.

Kind of like Hulk? :woot:

Beaten once again! :cmad:

I think Hulk works better on a team than Spidey because he kinda longs to be accepted. That's part of his character. He longs to be viewed as more than a monster.

Spidey? I see him as a hero who helps the "little guy" out on the street. Like Daredevil. I don't think it's in his character to be a permanent fixture on a super team. No matter what Bendis tries to say.

Who is Rich Ross and what is this news?

Rich Ross is the chairman of Disney, and he just stepped down from that position. I didn't know either but I used the power of the Google to find out.

While some consider Sub-mariner #34, which featured Namor, Hulk, and the Surfer to be the first unofficial meeting of The Defenders, it has really been Strange, Hulk, and Namor at the original core, or "big three" of the group.

Interesting. I don't see how it'll effect Feige or Marvel though, considering Avengers will probably go on to make near enough a billion at the box office. Money talks.
