It is but the WDS chairman presides over that as well so technically he's Lasseter's boss even though Lasseter is CCO of Disney Animation and Pixar.

interesting... ones a success story in live action (though not exactly critically... but financially yes) while the other is a success story (upon all acconts) in animation.

i'd say both are pretty on par. I'd assume Lasseter would be up for the position as well... it'd be interesting to see which would get it if they were/are up for it together.

Well it might not be either dude. The Deadline article throughout some other possible names.

For anyone that wants to know, It's been confirmed that the new Dark Knight Rises trailer will appear in front of the Avengers (in all formats).

That's pretty cool. Should be fun to conclude my Marvel Marathon day on May 3 with The Dark Knight Rises Trailer followed by The Avengers.

A nice bonus for those of us who are going to see this movie (which is everyone). :yay:

Wow, that trailer itself will make the Avengers experience better!

Marvel don't give a ****!

May 4th=Holy Epic Avengers Batman!

TOO MUCH TO FATHOM!

So I made a Red Baron pizza today and won a free movie ticket

And here come the "Avengers box office was inflated because of all the Batman fans paying to see the trailer" argument.

Along with the reports of people seeing half the audience leave The Avengers after the trailer plays, just as they allegedly did with MI: Ghost Protocol. :whatever:

Of course, the proper the rebuttal to that argument is "The TDKR trailer contributed as much to the Avengers' box office as Ledger's death did to TDK".

Oh my god holy lol :awesome:

Although nowadays, I wonder how many people actually paid money for a movie to see the trailer when they can see it on Youtube shortly after.

It would be a very small minority and when i say that i mean less than 10 people worldwide.

The only case i can think slightly similar is the prologue with Ghost Protocol but that was something that wouldn't be shown on the internet so in that sense its only slightly comparable.

So what i'm trying to say is whoever says the Dark Knight Rises trailer contributes to The Avengers success is talking out their ass. Over in the UK you're lucky if you can guess what trailers you'll get (in my experience), so even if it was the case you could probably only apply it too America.

[shrug] Batmoney is just as good as any other kind. :awesome:

They're morons then, that was a hell of a good movie.

I need to rent MI from a redbox and watch it again. It certainly was friggin awesome.

I don't get it myself but I know people who claimed to have done it. Back before The Phantom Menace came out its trailer was attached to Meet John Black, a truly forgettable Brad Pitt vehicle. There were fans who paid to see it, then walked out after the trailer. Or so they said. I can't imagine the stupidity of that. Of course, back then trailers were less likely to be released online and they weren't played on TV. Bet they feel stupid now.

I think the best part of this movie will be the TDKR trailer.

Jk, they both are gonna be amazing.

I'm not wild about the Civil War idea. It was okay as a comic, but we're already getting a movie where the heroes fight each other. Granted, it's only growing pains as they form the team, but it kind of takes the luster off of a Civil War showdown. At least in part, it's been done already.

Plus, they have way better stories to use. Civil War shouldn't even be in the top 5.

DING DING DING
We have a winner.

*This* is the exact reason that the MCU version of Avengers need not (and will not) feature a Civil War scenario. CW in the comics comes as a result of trying to apply the socio-political and legal ramifications of a superhero team, about 40 years after the fact. Whether you like CW or not, you've got to admit the questions Millar and Bendis asked are pertinent ones: what are the limits of a superhero's power? On what authority does s/he play judge, jury and executioner? And who watches the watchmen? It's questions that could've been asked long ago in the Silver Age when the comic book universe was first created, but back then, comic books were considered just throwaway bubble-gum entertainment for 10-year old boys --- nobody thought to ask deep questions and examine the internal logic of it all.

MCU, on the other hand, is *already* addressing most of those issues in Avengers. And the heroes are already squabbling with each other. So a Civil War becomes totally redundant and unnecessary in the MCU.

Agree! Now that that's settled they can get to work on a good Kang story. :)

As much as I like Kang and think he deserves a movie I feel like it would be a rehash of the Current avengers movie.

Not in the least.

There's a big difference between invaders from space, versus invaders from another time.

Kang would be awesome. So would Thanos. And a reborn HYDRA. And the Masters of Evil. And....and.....GOT DAMMIT TO HEL
