Which is why I can suspend my disbelief for Thor and etc, like i said ;)

As for aliens, not so much.

It's very easy for any advanced Alien species to decipher and speak your language
You have no idea

Lol...I understand where you're coming from. The Star Trek franchise featured many an English speaking alien race. No Arabic. No French. No German. I guess it's similar to how all the aliens in the old Godzilla movies were Japanese :woot:

Also, another thing I like about Avengers Hulk as opposed to TIH Hulk is that his hair length doesn't randomly change when he hulks out.

I mean, Ed Norton even got a hair cut in the middle of the movie, and Hulk's hair still looked the same. lol

Yeah sure. flickchick85 gave a pretty groovy summary:

Basically she comes to Loki in the cell to bargain for Barton's life. Or so it seems. He tells her he expected her to show up as the "friendly method of persuasion" after Fury and Co. tortured him a bit, not so soon. He inquires about her interest in Barton, asking if it's love. She says, "love is for children. I owe him a debt." Then she tells him her backstory with Barton from back when she was an assassin. She says she's got some "red on her ledger" that she's trying trying to make right. During her whole story, Loki acts sympathetic and then totally flips, listing all her past victims he shouldn't know about (but learned of from Barton) then telling (more like yelling at) her exactly the horrible death he has in store for her ad Barton. She breaks down and calls him a monster and turns away. Then he says something about the Hulk being the monster they were foolish enough to bring on board, and then she turns around...she was faking the breakdown. She says, "so Banner's the reason your here? Good to know. Thanks." Or something to that effect, then leaves.
I loved that scene. [BLACKOUT]I knew Widow was playing him all along[/BLACKOUT].

They speak english. It was one of the few WTF moments for me since they made sure to have Widow speak Russian. Oh well, just one of those "suspension of disbelief" things, I guess. A minor thing, for sure.

A little bothersome, but indeed minor. It's always been irksome for me that aliens in some films just know how to speak English out of the blue. I can suspend my disbelief with Thor and etc, but I can't pretend it's not a little silly with this. Not a movie ruiner though. :oldrazz::cwink:

My take on it is this: In order to have the aliens speak a different language, the filmmakers would have to either make up some gibberish and add subtitles or have a linguist construct an entire language. That's fine when you're dealing with Klingons and Vulcans, not so good when you have a couple of creatures speaking a few lines. At some points they have to rely on the intelligence of the audience and the willing suspension of disbelief to get past minor quibbles like that. Otherwise, every film with minor aliens in it will have to hire linguists and train voice actors in order to come up with a few lines of pseudo-alien language.

As awesome as this movie is .... I do want to discuss one gripe I have and that's how Thor arrives on Earth.
I was really surprised to see so little put into a moment full of so much prior speculation since we all know what happened at the end of Thor. Loki simply asking Thor about what dark magic the All-Father conjured up to get him there didn't cut it. Not to mention there's no scene in the movie where Thor learns of Loki's presence on Earth. Surprised to see Whedon not put more into it.

[BLACKOUT]I don't think what Loki said was What dark magic, but How Much. To me that meant that Odin had to spend a huge amount of power to send Thor back to Earth, meaning it's not something that could be done just any time and thus why they waited for Loki to be out in the open so they knew exactly where to send Thor... Plus it was a one way trip unless Thor recovered the tesseract, which reinforces again just how much power Odin had to spend.[/BLACKOUT]

I hear what you're saying, but there's an old adage when it comes to movies and that's "show me, don't tell me" ......
the whole issue of Odin conjuring up some sort of dark magic that isn't readily available is very deus ex machina and it's not a moment I would've expected to get covered in one sentence. Loki just says it and that's it. Considering the importance of the bridge having been destroyed, I just expected a lot more.

Totally get your point.
I've been wondering something else entirely. [BLACKOUT]Why can't they just rebuild the bifrost? Its not like it was a natural resource that can't be replaced. They built it before, why not again? At least a year has passed since it was destroyed, you'd think those Asgardians would've gotten around to replacing it.[/BLACKOUT]

How about some Hulk spoilers? We know he talks. What are his lines. Also, what was Banner's secret for controlling the Hulk?

[BLACKOUT]Hulk barely talks. There's one line where he's repeating something Loki said, mocking him. I don't recall any others.[/BLACKOUT]

Question regarding the Tesseract:

Is it destroyed? If not, what becomes of it?

I ask because, the presence of it would ensure that the film's scenario would keep happening over and over again.
The latter outcome would be awesome. If answering, would someone be able to put the answer in spoiler tags, as I cannot read blacked out text on my iPod (from which I post.)

Thanks a many!

It's not destroyed. Its moved to a place where it can't be used by humans anymore, or against them.

Could very well be something they'll follow up on in Thor 2. That gives them a way to take Odin out of the picture again if need be (though that device can be easily overused itself)

Well, it's not as bad as a mustache disappearing and reappearing. :woot:

Thor and Loki use it to get back to Asgard (Loki as a prisoner), so it's not destroyed, just no longer on Earth.
