The Avengers The Avengers Post Screening Review & Discussion Thread (SPOILER FILLED) - Part 5

I actually have a question about Loki [blackout]during the mindwashing what was the whole "You... you have heart(?)" dialogue about? I found it kind of cheesy. It seemed to be there just just to set up the gag with Iron Man...[/blackout]

That was how he controlled them, wasn't it? By touching their heart with the staff. He tried to do it again with Iron Man but his arc reactor got in the way.

Aye, I just think
The way he said it, like he was surprised the individual he took the opportunity to control had a heart, was what I found awkward. Surerly everyone does.

The whole cell-phone sonar thing. Batman running around with glowing blue eyes. Two-Face's entire look, which I liked as a comic fan, but was out of place in the grounded environment. It didn't need to be that grotesque.

There are moments outside of the third act too, like "Oh that's really not good!"

The cellphone thing well... that's the same kind of technology that allows Bruce to have a bat-suit, bat-car, etc etc, how is suddenly too comic booky? The glowing eyes is the same but okay, it didn't have to be like that. Now, Two-Face look was a triumph and I'm no expert on burns but I'd say 2F look was but realistic. Like opposite to Tomy Lee Jones comic bokky look.

But the fight against Joker, the Two-Face and Gordon's family scene... that was pure good drama. Comic book movies tend to be, you know, a little more of CGI fest and big explosions for the climax (nothing against the Avengers fellows) instead of a pure acting scene.

Anyways, I've heard so many "TDK didn't feel a comic book movie" guys that complaining about the opposite came up odd.

Batman fans continue to show their displeasure with Whedon's humor. Go figure.

I think he was just joking. In fact I think it made the action of touching the chest more natural. People would have been wondering what he was doing without the dialogue.

Oh my god oh my god oh my god...

I just came home from the most fantastic 2.5 hours of my life! If thats an indication that either I´v had an boring ass life or that this movie is a true masterpiece its up to you to decide.
I´v never and I repeat NEVER felt like crying of joy because of an movie but in the Avengers I had my heart in my throat a couple of times simply because of the marvelous imagery presented in front of me.

The movie is out on the net to download for those who wish so, but belive me DONT DO IT! Simply dont! Go see it in the theaters, go and be amazed, this was my first showing but I can assure your it wont be the last!

Cap, the Avenger that I had the least interest in wowed me, multiple times. I was very pleased with how Whedon used all these unique characters and everyone had their time to shine.
My favourite? The Hulk, but then again I´v been a huge fan of Hulk since I was a kid and besides the "gorilla" posture he was damn near perfect!
I loved this movie, I WILL pay money to see it many more times and I will own the blue ray.
Oh yea and when I saw myself in the movie I damn near creamed my pants :D

Let's not get into that kind of generalization. I'm a Batman fan above all else, and a fan of Nolan's films. But the humor and Whedonism are two of the things I'm most looking forward to in Avengers. Whether I'd like them in a Batman movie are possibly a different story. But that could be the difference between Marvel and DC in my eyes.

I'm not stalking you I swear. :p

I'm a HUGE Whedon fan, was defending the guy on here while others were crying about him taking the reigns.

I knew he'd be perfect for handling an ensemble film. Everyone got their chance to shine, so more than others though. :cwink:

Me too. :woot:

I still Thor is the best simply because of the story!

Same here, love Thor. Initially CA:TFA was my favourite but upon watching them back to back, Thor is the better all round film.

good news to all who seen avengers

the infamous hulk scene is on youtube
search

hulk and the puny god

no matter how many times you see it, still as funny as ever

Nah there are some who are just in love with their own voices enough that they feel the need to turn everything into an argument.

Well, some others might be doing exactly that. Creating a war where there isn't one. :cwink:

 Newsflash, it wasn't me nor El Payaso that decided to instigate an argument by bringing up the Marvel/DC thing on this page.

I could not stop laughing and I think its so cool that Hulk is
more powerful than a god

I even mentioned similar parts I had disliked in Nolan's Bat-movies. They'd better ignore that or this unsubstantiated war might never truly start. :hehe:

From what I hear he also took him by suprise, which is probably why he pummels him so easily.

what trailers did your showing have?

mine had prometheus and MIB, but no batman

Newsflash, wasn't talking about you and El Payaso's crap has been ongoing for days. Do try and keep up if you insist on playing along.

So....
I watched Avengers Assemble today, Me, the other half and the kids (aged 14, 12 and 9)
Now, before I start I have to say that Avengers is a film i've been really excited about. I love the whole build up to this movie, I love how the seperate Marvel movies have all been leading up to this movie, the amount i've been looking forward to this film made it somewhat difficult for it to live up to my admittedly high expectations.

So....
Avengers Assemble.
one word.
FANTASTIC.
One of the best (if not THE best) superhero movies I have ever seen.
The big surprise for me was Hulk.
I hated Ang Lees Hulk movie. Hated it with a passion.
I loved the Ed Norton Hulk movie but was disapointed by the CGI and how hulk physically appeared on screen.
Avengers got Hulk right. Thank god.
He looked great, he moved great... He smashed stuff. Finally Hulk has got a movie that has done him justice.

The Avengers has the perfect blend of action and humour, each character had a fair share of witty lines throughout the movie, Avengers was not as Iron Man heavy as I feared it would be in short Avengers was pretty near perfect.
I love Nolans Bat movies but seriously TDKR has got some serious work to do entertain as much as Avengers has.

Another point to make, we went to see Avengers at 1pm on A saturday afternoon. I've seen many movies at that time of day but i've not known a cinema to be pretty much filled to capacity at that time of day before.

Avengers is making money and rightly so.. Bring on the sequel!
