The Avengers The Avengers Post Screening Review & Discussion Thread (SPOILER FILLED) - Part 5

I'd watch it online if I could, and still would pay to see it in cinemas.

Good for you mkilban! You go with that will power.

I know I already know the answer to this question, but is this movie still going to feel like I haven't seen anything of it yet, even though I've watched majority of the trailers/TV spots (minus anything the past like 2 weeks) ?

Mostly. Granted, I saw the movie a couple weeks ago before a lot of these TV spots/clips hit, but I watched every single spot and clip that had been out up to that point, and I didn't feel spoiled in the least. Also, with one exception, all the actual clips they've released have been from the first half of the film, aka, the warm-up half. None of the "good stuff." I will say the last 2 tv spots have shown a shot or two I wish they hadn't, but I don't think they're particularly spoiler-y since context is everything.

I'm curious, in a lot of the trailers and TV spots, we see clips of Captain America being thrown out a window and onto the city street.

Who does that to him?

The Chitauri has a bomb that explodes sending Cap out of the window

He isn't thrown, he's taking the brunt of an explosion. It's from one of the alien weapons.

Edit: Nevermind

So this film is the best comic book movie ever.

Question

Am I the only one who noticed than Thanos looked RED when he first turns round, then once his face fully turned to the side he looks blue

What colour did he look to everyone else?

it is definitely best to have not seen ANYTHING at all

sadly i had seen and heard a LOT

but the good news is, once you watch it for second and third time, the initial disappointment at having already seen those scenes goes away, it becomes much more enjoyable :woot:

Joss Whedon does nothing but deliver. Where Iron Man, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, and Captain America: The First Avenger set up all of these dynamic characters with even more broader personalities, Joss Whedon found the perfect ways to bring them together and keep them 100% true to themselves. The action is breathtaking, the acting is perfect, the script is filled with every fine point of writing; humor being the surprising and in the end, essential key to the overall film. That may not make sense, but it will once you sit down and watch it. I was a huge skeptic of Joss, his writing, and the trailers lack of showing scenes of dialouge-only interactions between the characters, but Joss and company give you everything. Humor, thrill, excitement, passion - everything. It’s all there and it’s in the form of one of the biggest, boldest movies ever created.

Purple.

Was the iconic 'Avengers Assemble' line in the movie? Trying to think back, but i don't remember it being said

I'd place Nolans 2 Batman films and Spiderman 2 above it.

The last 30 minutes are definitely a game changer in what people will now expect from a comic book film though. I havent read a Avengers comic book since the mid80s, but for me, it was pretty much a vintage Avengers comic book come to life.

i think they are saving it for the sequel

it will work better now they have all got to know each other and become a team and taken down their first foes

In terms of what the two films tried to achieve, and how successful they were in achieving it, I'd actually place The Avengers above TDK.

TDK is pretty close though.

I don't rate Spider-Man 2 at all.

For me, both Spiderman 2 and the Nolan Batman films are clearly overrated. I'm not even sure if they are in my personal CBM top ten.

And while the Avengers is not a perfect film and not the best film I've ever seen, it is the best CBM I've ever seen.

TDK deserves most of the praise it gets. I disagree with it's current status as a deity, however.

dark knight and avengers are both great films, but with too many flaws to be considered 10/10 and up there with classic cinema

Avengers is a definite 10/10 within the comic book movie genre.
