The Avengers The Avengers Post Screening Review & Discussion Thread (SPOILER FILLED) - Part 5

I really liked the film. Can't score it yet because I missed a lot thanks to the human *****ebags behind me who found it appropriate to bring a diaper-aged kid to the theater who screamed the entire time.

I sympathize, so many theatergoers laughed so loud throughout the movie it made it difficult to concentrate on it sometimes and be immersed in it. That said, I still had a blast with the movie and am eager to see it again. I'll see if I go this week.

One little gripe I have is that there doesn't seem to be any continuity between Norton's Hulk and Ruffalo's Hulk. There were references to TIH, but green eyes didn't flicker, there was a size different and muscle mass difference and it just didn't feel "right" in a way. I know that effects become better through the years and what not, but that did bug me about the Hulk in Avengers. I still LOVE Hulk in the film, but still.

Hulk changes all the time in comics. I see no problem here.

Just got back from watching it. Incredible.

Absolutely incredible. Loved everything about it. Funny, heartwarming, tender, well acted, best action to ever grave a superhero movie. I mean just wow.

I saw it this morning, the first showing of the day. Fantastic job all around. Great casting, great acting and great SCRIPT.

I put script in bold because it did a perfect job of finding balance in screen time for all of the characters. This was indeed a TEAM movie. It wasn't like the X-Men films where everything revolved around Wolverine. Cap, Thor, IM, Hulk, Widow, Hawkeye, Loki, Fury, Hill, Coulson.....they all were equally featured.

I'm happy for Joss Whedon because his career is never going to be the same from this point. Hollywood is going to kneel before him and the town is his oyster after this one.

Now for some spoiler tags:

If I had one complaint it was the omission of the battle cry "Avengers Assemble". The final 20 minutes had 300 possible spots for it to fit in. It's not even that big an issue because this movie made up for the oversight in it's entire 143 minute runtime.

My favorite scenes.....

Thor confronting Loki on the mountain and all the dialogue within the scene. He was truly trying to save his "brother".

The end of the fight in the woods where the camera went to a wide shot and captured the big 3 looking at each other.

Cap and Tony working together to save the Helicarrier. I loved every second of that.

The Hulk punching Thor. Nobody expected it in the audience and it got a huge applause. Eh, pretty much anything Hulk related was awesome. They did a tremendous job with him.

Tony saying to Cap, "Cap you call it" then Cap starts spouting out strategy........F**KING NAILED IT.

Hulk owning Loki, the audience completely lost it at that point.

And lastly, when Loki, defeated, looked up and saw the group towering over him. His line was good too about taking Tony up on that drink now. Hiddleston was a great, great bad guy. I hope he's a part of Thor 2.

That's just wrong.

I am not a fan of people who do this, diaper aged kids should NOT NOT watch movies like this, or even TV

I LOVE LOVE LOVE packed theaters where everyone is incredibly into the movie and responsive

That's great if you have no problem, but I did say it was something that I had a problem with.

So Hulk becomes smaller in the comics?

And I said that shouldn't be a problem, because it happens in comics.
Yeah, he sometimes changes his color, size and other features.

What did Hulk say after he beat down Loki? Was it "dumbass" or something like that?

Couldn't hear him because everyone was laughing way to hard.

hulk punching thor probably got the loudest laugh where i saw it... So of course i couldnt hear what hulk said either... Getting ready for a second helping tonight

The biggest responses my theater got was Thor's "adopted" line, Hulk punching Thor, and of course the scene where Hulk rag dolls Loki.

Some dude actually screamed "YES, YESSSSS!!!" when Hulk started slamming Loki around.

Those were the exact same three scenes where everyone broke out laughing during my screening today.

Where were you the other day when I was trying to defend theater applause and general sense of fun from the sourpusses in here?

I was lurking around, but I didn't want any parts of that ****.

You know what, I'll give you this - I did clap one time when I was laughing at a joke, haha. I immediately thought of that discussion.

I could barely hear the [BLACKOUT]puny god[/BLACKOUT] line myself. I want to hear it again because I'm curious what it sounded like.

That scene in your avy, it was in the movie!. And I had 4 yes moments. The first was in the thor and ironman fight towards the end where Thor weaves under ironman's punch, picks him up over his head, and body slams him to the ground. The second was When Thor tackled Hulk, (i love how thor was just trying to calm hulk down during that fight, tries talking) the 3rd was the uppercut with the hammer, the 4th was during the final battle when we see cap doing all his acrobatics and ironman comes in, and cap puts up his shied, that was ****in awesome.

Another scene I found hilarious was during the hulk vs thor fight, i dont think anyone noticed this. But when they both went up like 3 floors, it zooms in on Thor's face, just looking, then we see hulks hand grab him, it was funny lol.

and the 5th moment was seeing thanos, my whole theater was buzzing.

I noticed that scene and it was quite funny, especially considering how big Hulk's hand is compared to Thor.

Its been awhile since I've been to a movie that the whole theater was into the movie..

Obviously with no Hank Pym, I think having both Pym and Ultron introduced in one film would be too much. So unless we see an Ant-man before The Avengers 2 I think the best way could be Masters of Evil, potentially run by the World Security Council after what Fury did.

Ant-Man is very close to be in filming considering all the interviews with Feige. Edgar Wright has been working on the movie for some time.

this is a pretty cool viral (tests to see which avenger you are)
